No one had a word to say after the bomb that was just dropped. Instead, Jade, who was visibly pissed, decided it was the right time to charge both me and my lawyer, striking me across the face and attempting to hit my lawyer.
"Unless you'd like to spend a night in jail for assault, Miss Jade, I highly recommend you not try that again," Ace, my leader security guard said, catching her wrist in his hand before she could hit Jason.
"Chris, baby, you're not going to let them get away with this, are you?" Jade asked him.
"I have no choice. She's right. I am her legal husband. Our wedding was fake. I've been cheating on her since before she got pregnant with Jessica. I took her last name, so my family couldn't find me," he said, finally accepting the blame for his actions. "However, I can't be certain that Jessica is even mine, especially since Hailey was away on business trips around the time of her conception."
"You want proof she's your child? Here. It's all in the file. I knew you'd question her paternity, especially since you've always been jealous of my relationship with both Ace and Jason," I said flatly. "I've never once cheated on you, Christopher. However, I knew of your infidelity the moment Jade's son started attending this school. I knew it was only a matter of time before you finally confessed to your affair with your 'secretary'."
Instead of waiting for his or even Jade's response, I turned on my heel to go back to my office to put the down payment on a new house, calling over my shoulder at Christopher, "I'd suggest you sign the divorce. You're not getting a damn thing from me. All of your accounts have been frozen, and you've been removed from the CEO position in MY company."
"C'mon, Hails, please. It was a mistake. I never meant for you to get hurt. Please don't do this. Don't ruin our family because of a simple mistake," he practically begged, running after me.
"I have nothing left to say to you. You have until the end of the week to get your s**t out of my house. I've bought a small apartment on the other side of town for you and your 'family'. It's in your legal name, and you can pick up the keys in my office when you arrive to clear out your belongings. Have a nice life with her. You deserve each other, after all," I said, not a tear slipping from my eyes.
I got Jess strapped in her seat and walked around to the driver's side door to get in when Jade stopped me.
"Jade, move, or I will move you," I said, not messing around.
"I had no idea, Hailey. But you can't possibly buy us an apartment on the other side of town. Samual goes to school here, I can't just uproot him from his friends like that," she said, clearly upset and trying to play the victim.
"I don't care about you or your son. You knew he was married. You were invited to our wedding 5 years ago. Don't play the victim with me. You're just pissed your little secret got called out. Now move. I have some cleaning up to do with the school and I need to get my daughter to the hospital," I said, exasperated.
Without another word, she left, and I started my car to go home when my phone rang. I knew instantly who was calling without having to even look at the caller ID.
"Hello, Dad. To what do I owe the displeasure of hearing from you?" I asked my dad, Jacob Imbram, president and co-owner of Imbram Corporation.
"Why is Christopher calling me saying you just embarrassed him in front of the school by divorcing him?" He asked, clearly displeased.
