The creature looks at my hand hungrily and licks its lips as it watches the blood pool in my palm. Will his survival instinct outweigh his hunger? It seems like forever that the vampire and I stand there in our face-off, and I’m starting to wonder what to do. “Go on,” hisses Drusilla behind me. "You can do it!" But I don’t want to join him in the shadows. I want to stay out in the daylight where it’s safe. I take another step toward him, holding my bloody hand out as far as it will go without crossing over into the shadow.
