Love On The Run

Sarah had always been a small-town girl, with long blonde curly hair that cascaded down her back, and a mischievous glint in her bright blue eyes. She was only eighteen but she had already seen enough of the world to know that she wanted more than what her sleepy hometown could offer her. Levi, on the other hand, was a tall and lean young man with rugged good looks that seemed to have been chiselled out of stone. He had piercing green eyes that seemed to look right through you, and a quiet intensity that hinted at a troubled past. At twenty-one, he had already lived a life that most people twice his age would struggle to comprehend. Sarah had grown up in a small town called Millfield, nestled in the heart of the Appalachians. Her father was a mechanic, and her mother was a homemaker. Sarah had always been a good student, and she had dreams of becoming a writer someday. Whereas Levi had grown up in a rough part of town. His father had left when he was just a baby, and his mother had struggled to make ends meet. Levi had turned to a life of crime at a young age, running with a gang and doing whatever it took to survive. Sarah and Levi came from very different backgrounds, but they had one thing in common – they were both on the run from the law. They had been wrongly accused of a crime they didn't commit, and now they had no choice but to flee. One evening, Sarah was filling up her car at a gas station just outside of Millfield when Levi walked up to her and asked for a ride. "Excuse me, miss? Can I hitch a ride with you?" Levi asked. Sarah hesitated for a moment, sizing up this stranger who had approached her so suddenly. But something in Levi's eyes made her take pity on him. "Where are you headed?" Sarah asked. "Anywhere but here," Levi replied. Sarah gave into her impulsive nature and swiftly nodded in agreement, feeling a sudden sense of adventure stirring in her heart. "Alright then, hop in." As they drove away from Millfield, they both knew that their lives would never be the same again. They were fugitives now, with nothing but each other to rely on. "So, what's your name?" Sarah asked, breaking the silence. "Levi," he replied. "I'm Sarah," she said. "Where are you from?" "Does it matter?" Levi asked, his voice tinged with bitterness. Sarah hesitated for a moment before replying. "I guess not. But I'm from Millfield. Small town, you know?" Levi nodded, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "I know small towns. I grew up in one myself." "Really? Where?" Sarah asked. "A place called Eastwood. You probably never heard of it," Levi said. Sarah shrugged. "I've been around a bit. You'd be surprised." As they drove deeper into the night, they both felt a sense of freedom and exhilaration that they had never experienced before. Despite the danger that lay ahead of them, they couldn't help but feel a sense of hope for the future. They were in this together, and they were determined to make it through. Neither Sarah nor Levi mentioned anything about running from the law during their conversation. They spoke about everything but the reason for their hasty departure from their respective towns. Sarah told Levi about her dreams of becoming a writer and how she always wanted to see the world. Levi, on the other hand, shared stories about his time with the gang and how he never wanted to go back to that life. As the night grew darker, they came to a crossroad. Sarah had to make a decision. She could either turn left and head towards the city or take a right and continue towards the countryside. "Which way?" Levi asked. Sarah paused, contemplating her options. She knew that heading towards the city would increase their chances of getting caught, but it was also the place where they could blend in the easiest. "I think we should head towards the countryside," Sarah finally said. Levi nodded, understanding her decision. They drove for a few more hours, and when the sun began to rise, they found a secluded spot in the woods to rest. As they set up camp, Levi pulled out a pack of cigarettes and offered one to Sarah. "No, thanks. I don't smoke," Sarah said. Levi chuckled. "Good for you. It's a nasty habit." Sarah smiled, and they spent the next few hours talking and laughing under the morning sun. For the first time in a long time, both of them felt like they could be themselves around someone else. As the day went on, they continued their journey towards the countryside. They came across a small village and decided to stop to buy some supplies. As they were browsing the shelves of the convenience store, a news report on the TV caught their attention. The anchor was talking about a robbery that had taken place in Millfield, and the suspects were two young adults – a boy and a girl. Sarah's heart sank as she realized that they were the ones the police were looking for. She turned to Levi, who had also been watching the news, and their eyes met. They knew that they had to keep moving, but they also knew that the road ahead of them was going to be much harder than they had anticipated. Without a word, they quickly gathered their supplies and left the store. Sarah felt her heart pounding in her chest as they got back in the car. They were in deep trouble now, and they knew that they couldn't afford to make any mistakes. As they drove away from the village, Sarah couldn't help but think about how different her life had become in just a matter of days. She had gone from a simple life in a small town to being on the run with a stranger who she had just met. But despite all the fear and uncertainty, she felt a strange sense of excitement bubbling up inside her. For the first time in her life, she was living on her own terms, free to make her own choices and take risks. Levi seemed to sense her thoughts, and he turned to her with a small smile on his face. "Hey, Sarah. Don't worry. We'll figure this out. Together," he said. Sarah smiled back, feeling a sense of gratitude towards this stranger who had become her ally. As they drove further away from their old lives, they both knew that they were heading towards a future that was uncertain and dangerous. But they were ready to face whatever lay ahead, as long as they had each other. The sun began to set behind them as they continued their journey towards the unknown, leaving their past behind and embracing the thrill of the present.
