The Countdown

Its November 15, one week until our Birthday, and by our I mean Mine Matt and Daniel.The past few weeks Daniel and I have been spending so much time together. Alpha Cyrus even agreed to let us work the same border patrol shift. After the attack Daniel insisted he stay with me. Since Alpha Cyrus promised my parents to always look after me he agreed. Daniel and I came up with the idea that if we put all of our energy and into eachother it might help our chances of becoming mates. We make out constantly but he knows I will not go further until we know for sure. I feel so connected to him like if I didnt have him I couldnt exist. We just make sense together. We are laying in his room watching netflix. I let out a yawn and decide i need to go to bed. I start to get up but he pulls me to his chest. " dont leave me baby" he says wraping me in his arms. " im sorry i just cant keep my eyes open any longer" i say. "Just stay one night" he begs. " Not until we are mated" i remind him. He sighs and releases me. I lean over and give him a kiss " goodnight baby" i whisper. "Make me a promise" he mind links me. I turn and leave "what promise" i link back walking down the hall to my room. " promise me you will sleep with me the night before our birthday, i want to hold you in my arms when we become mates". I climb into bed and under the covers, i lay there for a minute thinking about it. "Rissa"? He links..."Promise"  I say before i drift i to a deep sleep.The next couple days go by fast, and before I know it its the night before my 18th birthday. Daniel has been gone all day with his father and brother. He has been attending more meetings lately since Matt named him as the future beta of our pack. Im sitting in the kitchen eating toast with peanut butter and honey when our pack Luna walks in. " Whats the matter dear" she says so softly like an angel. "Oh nothing" was my failed attempt at hiding my worries. "As your luna I feel what you feel and I can feel that you are uneasy, tell me whats wrong" she pulls me i to a hug. I sigh and i began to tell her how worried I am tha Daniel may not be my mate. I tell her how much i care for him and how devastated we will both be if we are not mates.she stays quiet for a moment and then says " Larissa, what is ment to be will be, whatever the outcome of tomorrow you will have to accept it. If he is your mate that will be wonderful, but if not it wont be right to deny your true mate you will have to give your true mate a try" she gives me a tight squeez and leaves the kitchen. A few minutes later Daniel and Alpha Cyrus walk in the kitchen, daniel gives me a quick kiss then heads for a shower. Alpha Cyrus talks with me for a few minutes then retires to his room...alone again. "Lilah what are we going to do if its not him" i ask her almost on the verge of tears. " if its not him its ok he will always be a part of you even as a best friend" she tries her best to reassure me. I get up and leave the kitchen. As i turn the corner to head upstairs i bump into a rock hard chest. I stumble back " what the f**k, oh Matt im sorry I didnt mean to jesus your chest is like a damn brick wall" he just stands there smiling at me. " whats with you" i ask poking his cheek " he suddenly grabs my hand. And pulls me close to his chest. He leans down his face in my hair and inhales deeply..." yes its a new shampoo weirdo" i say nervously getting out of his grip and walking around him...i run upstairs and i to Daniels room, he is still in the shower so i climb into his bed and turn on the tv. When Daniel gets out of the shower he swings the bathroom door open fast searching for me. " im here baby, dont worry i know how to keep a promis" i say to him he smiles and crawls into bed with me. He wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me to his chest, I roll over to face him. We stay like that for some time occasionally looking into each others eyes.I feel my eyes become heavy, before I drift to sleep i mind link Daniel" No matter what happens I will always love you", before i drift away i hear him say " no matter what your mine".

Daniels POV*

Its 10:43 pm in less then 2 hours I will have my mate. I look down at Larissa, she is sleeping so peacefully on my chest. She is the most beautiful girl ive ever layed eyes on. Her long black hair falls perfectly in place, her delicious full lips slightly parted as she sleeps. Her long dark lashes make her eyes so mesmerizing. She hates being called beautiful, I wish she could see what I see. I wrap my arms around her. "I love you...Mate" i whisper as i fall asleep holding her so close.
