Chapter 1 - A New Place
Delilah’s POV-
Mummmmm, I groan as I lift the last of the heavy boxes from the car.
Did we really have to move all the way here? This place looks boring and old! I haven’t even seen any one my age on our way up here!
Delilah I will not tell you again! We moved here because my work needed me to and I will not tolerate your whiny behaviour, whether you like it or not, we will be living here for at least the next 2 years until you graduate college and then hopefully we can move somewhere better that you will like.
God I hated it when my mother snapped at me, she was quite patient usually however this move has really agitated her, we was happy in California, and now we was god knows where stuck with pensioners on every road staring at us.
I lifted more boxes from the car and started to carry them into our new home, it wasn’t much of a home, it had a few furniture already there but it was dull and smelt of damp mud.
I shuddered at the thought of what could be causing the smell, it wouldn’t of surprised me if something died in here.
Dear!
I heard my mum shout from outside, she sounded slightly nicer this time, maybe she was ready to say we could move back home and that she could find a new job; but of course that was never going to be the case.
Dear, will you please help me unpack these boxes when we get inside, once we are done you can go and explore the town if you’d like, I heard there was a nice bar just a few roads away, maybe you’ll make new friends there.
Yes mother. I responded as sweetly as I could, I didn’t want to get on her nerves any further but I really didn’t want to go out and “meet new friends”, I’m not antisocial of any sort; but I don’t think the people here will be very welcoming to any new comers.
I helped my mother with the boxes and eventually our house started to seem like a home; i threw on a pair of jeans and a clean T-shirt and headed out the door looking for the bar my mother spoke of.
*Bar*
I walked into the bar and not to my surprise it was beaten down and again smelt like damp mud with rotting meat; I should of turned away as soon as I walked in but I knew I’d be bombarded with questions as to why I had came back so early.
I sat down on a stool by the bar and waited for a bartender to come over.
What would ya like? The bartender asked as if he couldn’t really give a shit
Gin and lemonade please I responded, if I kept away from everyone and just spent a couple of hours here then I could go home and act as though I made great friends, I don’t really drink either but I knew my mum would question why I hadn’t drank at the bar.
Suddenly a girl in a short skimpy outfit strutted over to me, she rested one hand on my shoulder and leant forward close towards my ear, she seemed overly confident and I didn’t like that,
Hey girlie, my name is Tasha, I haven’t seen you round here before. What’s your name?
My name is Delilah, I’ve just moved here. I responded quickly hoping that she wouldn’t stay for too long, I had a bad gut feeling about her.
Well Dee-Li-Lah,
she spoke as though she was mocking me
I just thought I’d let you know that, you really don’t fit in here, and if you get in my way at all, you’ll regret it
I smirked at her comment, I didn’t really care if she liked me or not, she didn’t know me and was already trying to shut me down
Look b***h, you came up to me, don’t get it twisted I responded
Just as she went to speak, her friend in a tight fitted dress ran up to her and whispered in her ear, it looked as though she could of thrown a temper tantrum right then and there if she could, a face full of rage and I wish I could of taken a picture
Tasha huffed in anger just stay away from us slut and in an instant she was already walking away towards the other side of the room, my gaze lingered as to where she was walking, she wasn’t walking towards the exit, nor to the bathrooms. Instead she had gone down a small corridor that had some beads hanging down above the entrance to show that you weren’t meant to walk through.
Once she had walked away, I got off my stool and made way to go in the same direction, I took my first step straight into someone’s chest.
Sorry! I said as I stepped back, my eyes wandered up to see the face of the person I had just walked into; he had a cold expression, piercing his brown eyes at me
You can’t go that way. he said in a monotone voice.
