I slipped out of Lyrien's chambers, my heart racing with every step. I had to get out, to clear my head, and to escape the suffocating reality of my forced mating. The full moon cast eerie shadows on the walls as I navigated the dark corridors.
I couldn't shake off the feeling of being trapped, of being a pawn in lyrien's game. He didn't care about my feelings or my love for Ryker. I was just a means to an end, a way to secure his pack's future.
I made my way to a secluded spot near the pack's border, hoping to find Ryker. I had to see him, to reassure myself that he was okay, even if I couldn't be with him. My pregnancy was still a secret, and I intended to keep it that way.
As I approached the meeting spot, Ryker emerged from the darkness. Our eyes met, and my heart ached with longing. But I knew I couldn't reveal my true feelings, not now, not ever.
"Kaida, what are you doing here?" Ryker asked, his voice low and husky. "You're supposed to be with Lyrien."
I looked down, my voice barely above a whisper. "I just needed some air, Ryker. I couldn't sleep; hope you're not Angry?"
Ryker's eyes narrowed, but he didn't push the issue. We stood in silence for a moment, the tension between us palpable.
Then, Lyrien appeared beside me, his voice cold and detached. "My mate, you shouldn't be out here alone. It's not safe."
My heart sank, but I knew I had to play along. I couldn't reveal my secrets, not yet. "I'm sorry, Lyrien. I just needed some fresh air. Its not what it seems like..."
Lyrien's gaze lingered on me, his eyes calculating. "Remember your place, Kaida. You're mine now, My queen."
And with that, he led me back to his chambers, leaving Ryker to wonder what was going on. I felt like a prisoner, trapped in a life I didn't want.
As Lyrien led me back to his chambers, I couldn't help but feel like I was walking further into my prison. The weight of his gaze on me was suffocating, and I knew I had to find a way to escape.
But for now, I had to play along. I had to pretend to be the obedient mate, the one who would stand by Lyrien's side and support him in his quest for power.
When we reached the chambers, Lyrien turned to me and said, "We have a lot to discuss, Kaida. Our mating ceremony is just the beginning. We have to plan our future, our pack's future."
I nodded, trying to appear eager, but inside I was screaming. I didn't want to plan a future with Lyrien. I wanted to be with Ryker, to raise our child together.
But that was a dream, a fantasy. My reality was Lyrien, and I had to face it.
"Let's get started," I said, forcing a smile onto my face.
Lyrien's eyes narrowed, but he seemed to accept my response. "Good," he said. "I'll have the pack's elders come in to discuss the details."
As he turned to leave, I caught a glimpse of something in his eyes, something that made my blood run cold. It was a glimmer of possessiveness, of ownership.
And I knew that I was in grave danger.

The pack's elders arrived, and Lyrien began to discuss the details of our mating ceremony. I listened, trying to appear attentive, but my mind was elsewhere. I was thinking of Ryker, of our child, of the life I truly wanted.
As the meeting went on, I felt Lyrien's gaze on me, burning with intensity. I knew he was trying to assert his dominance, to show the elders that I was his.
But I refused to be intimidated. I met his gaze, my eyes flashing with defiance.
Lyrien's expression didn't change, but I saw a flicker of surprise in his eyes. He wasn't used to me standing up to him.
The meeting ended, and the elders left. Lyrien turned to me, his voice low and menacing. "You would do well to remember your place, Kaida. I am your mate, your Alpha. You will obey me."
I nodded, trying to appear submissive, but inside I was seething. I would never obey him, not truly. I would play along, but I would always be looking for a way to escape.
“ Words Kaida, I want words" he shouted into my ear as I flinched backwards.
And then, I saw it. A glimmer of hope. A way out. A way to run away.
One of the elders, an old female named Akira, had left behind a small piece of paper. On it was a single word: "Run".
My heart was racing, and I knew what I had to do. I had to escape, and I had to do it now.

Lyrien's face twisted in anger as he took a step closer to me. "You think you can defy me, Kaida?" he shouted, his voice echoing off the walls. "I am the Alpha of this pack, and you are nothing but a mere mate. You will obey me, and you will do it with a smile on your face."
He sneered at me, his eyes flashing with contempt. "You think you're special, don't you? You think you're worthy of love and affection? Newsflash, Kaida: I don't love you. I don't even like you. You're just a means to an end, a way to secure my position and power."
He laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "You're nothing but a pawn in my game, Kaida. And pawns are meant to be used and discarded. Don't ever forget that."
I felt a stinging sensation in my eyes as tears pricked at the corners. I knew I had to keep them back, had to maintain my composure in the face of Lyrien's cruelty.
But it was hard, oh so hard. His words cut deep, and I felt like I was bleeding inside.
"You're mine now, Kaida," Lyrien spat, his voice dripping with malice. "And you'll do exactly as I say, or suffer the consequences. Do I make myself clear?"
I nodded, trying to keep my head down, trying to hide my tears.
But Lyrien wasn't finished. He reached out and grasped my chin, forcing me to look up at him. "I said, do I make myself clear?" he repeated, his eyes blazing with fury.
I swallowed hard, trying to find my voice. "Y-yes," I stammered.
Lyrien's grip on my chin tightened, and I felt a surge of pain. "Good," he said. "Because I won't hesitate to remind you of your place. Again and again and again, until you learn to obey me without question.”
