Chapter 10

1540 Words
(Someone's POV) "Gotcha!" I said as I succeeded in tracking my sweetheart using the tracking device I put on her shoe. She was always missing and going out when we were younger so I put a tracker on all of her shoes and I check them every night when she is already sound asleep. I almost forgot about the tracking device and thought that I will never see her because it seems that her phone is out of reach but it's a good thing that I saw my tracker blaring on my computer and I already found her. I did not attend my classes today and just spent my whole day inside my red room on my house. I badly want to kill someone but I cannot just ruin my perfectly laid plans because I am bored. I called all of my contacts on the underground society of New York especially on Brooklyn to watch for her and make her settle on one place until I come and go for her. I remembered my cousin and his snide remarks this morning. I found her, you f*****g i***t. (Helena's POV) I'd been walking on the streets of Brooklyn for hours and I'm already tired but I still kept on going. It's already 3:00 in the afternoon and I just arrived here in this place where I know nobody. Far from my mummy. Far from everyone else I know. But at least, you got away from that maniacal killer. A small voice said from behind my head. I need to find a place to stay on first before the night falls. I don't want to encounter a bad guy anymore. The scene on the train and the experiences that I had in Jacksonville are enough for me to be wary of men. "Hey missy! You searchin' for a job?" A fat middle aged man with goatee called me. "Uh... no." I denied. "There's a job openin' on the other street. Called Aunt Delilah's. They searchin' for a dishwasher and I suggest that to you if you are also searchin' for a place to settle into." He flashed his tobacco stained teeth to me and walked away while making call on his phone. I am a little bit suspicious about the guy's intentions but I decided to give a try. I looked around and saw a high end restaurant and cafe located at a ten storey building named Little Paris with a sign near its glass door that says: WANTED: DISHWASHER (inquire inside) A small smile formed on my now dry lips and I immediately went inside the restaurant. The restaurant is now full of customers and the place is loud with their chatterings. I approached the guard and asked him about the sign. He pointed me to a small wooden door at the other end of the room. It must be the owner's office. I breathed in deeply and knocked on the door. "Come in." An old woman's voice said from inside the room. I entered the room and I am shocked to see that instead of an office with a small table and chairs, what I saw is a simple bedroom. The room is actually small, the furnitures are even very few in number. Only a bed, a small study table and a plush sofa chair by the window is present. In it is a small old woman who is currently reading a book. "Good afternoon, ma'am." I greeted and smiled at the woman. She must be around her 60's. Old enough to be my grandmother. She has frizzy silver hair that must have been blonde in her younger days and kind gray eyes under her horn-rimmed glasses that looked like it had been stolen from Dumbledore's tomb because it looked very old. She is wearing a floral blouse and dark brown skirt that reached the floor, completely covering her feet. I smiled inwardly, this is my very own style of clothing and it is awkward to see a much older woman wearing the same dress. It's a good thing that I am still wearing my black silk jacket and skinny jeans that had been a birthday present from my aunt last year. "Good afternoon, dearie. Just call me Delilah. Applying for a job?" She wriggled her pale brows at me and looked at my suitcase. "Uhm... yes." I said. "Did you run away from home?" She's still eyeing my bags curiously. "Well, I need to. Personal matters." I said. "So you already found a place to stay?" She asked. "I'm going to search for one once I find a job... But I heard that I can also settle in this place too." I said hastily. Dear Lord, I badly need this job. I prayed at the back of my mind. "Oh, yes. But you must understand that you need to wake up early and sleep late each day. You also have only one day off each week and that would be sunday. Salary is 8 dollars per day six times a week. I also warn you that you must work very fast and all that you will break will be deducted from your salary. Now go get changed, go to the third floor of this building where the cafe is located and you will see a woman named Cerise, she is my manager. She will show you your room that you will be sharing with my other employees and orient you with your work. Remember, don't mention seeing my face. I never showed any of my employees my face." She finally dismissed me with a wave of her hand. (3rd person's POV) "She already arrived, young man." The woman who calls herself Delilah dialled on her phone. "How can you be sure that it is her?" The young man on the other side of the phone asked. "She's one of a kind. Very unruly hair and her eyes widened when she saw my dress. Very remarkable." The woman removed the eyeglasses that she is wearing and revealed her electric gray eyes that she inherited from her mother. She also removed the baggy clothes and revealed her red tube top, black micromini skirt and seven inches red stilletos underneath. Underneath her wig is a luxurious tumble of silver blonde hair that is highlighted with streaks of green, blue, pink and red. She finally removed her prosthetics and revealed a twenty seven years old woman underneath the old woman's face mask. "Very good, Delilah. I will give you your money once I arrived there to pick her up." "It seems that the woman is trying to defy you, little brother." She teased him as she pushed a button on the armrest of her favorite sofa and revealed a small door at the side of her "room". She entered the door and it revealed an elevator that goes up to the top floor of the building where a very lavish penthouse that oversees the city is located. The penthouse has soft, warm, neutral tones, huge floor to ceiling windows, and sophisticated style. Unlike her spartan dummy office at the first floor, this penthouse has everything that I need. It even has and indoor pool where she swims every night. No one is allowed to go to the top floor of this building except her and her friends which are very few in number, and her brother who only came once in a while. His last visit had been three months ago and she was looking forward on seeing him again. He is the only one who can understand her and that is why he's the only one she calls a family. Her restaurant and cafe only occupies the first three floors of the building. All of her employees that lives here are on the ninth floor of the building and the rest of the building are leased to other businesses like bookstore, salon, spa and other shops that are not related to her business. "stop calling me little brother." The man on the other side of the line growled. "She ran away while I'm not looking. I'm not done with my games yet." "So how's our bullshit of a family?" She asked and lit a stick of expensive cigarette using her silver cased lighter. "Still the same. Our only cousin is still haven't changed his ways even a bit. Being the only son and everything. Anyways, our parents are still angry at both of us. Angry at you for running away from home when you were very much younger and angry at me for not going to their dream school and just enrolling at a local public highschool." She laughed sardonically and poured herself a glass of expensive red wine. "That is because you are a f*****g genious and you did not enter New York Academy of Sciences and your lame reason is because your cousin also enrolled on that place." "I don't give a f**k about them. I only want my Helena." "I know. You are even capable of killing just because of her. You have a deadly obsession, dear brother." "I know." Came the reply and the call ended. She just smirked and looked out of her floor to ceiling window.
