Four men who went to Law School who intended to stick to each other no matter what life throws at them. Alex has always had issues with his family. David was the rich kid, who despite being a show off, was one of the best friends any of the men in the club could ask for. Gabriel came from nothing but wanted everything, he loved a challenge, and he would make his family proud with how far he can go. And Stephen, the lover who was heartbroken left and right.

Together they navigate their mid thirties and new opportunities arise just for them. They're like dominoes... one falls and then the others do too.

ALEX

Oldest of 6 boys and a deceased father he has always been the one to handle everything. Now Alex was on the road to becoming the DA, he is struck with the biggest cases back to back. Taking on a program that helped him while in school, he makes sure that the students from NYU are the top of their class. He hands them each a case to help him with and he works with each of them. All of them have potential... and in his mind, only one of them can seriously jeopardize his dream job in three years when she graduates.

LENA

All her life she was good at winning her arguments. Having five older brothers helped her strive for independence. Now at 26 she was getting everything she wanted. She was at the top of her class, she was getting her extra classes taken care of, and she got the best opportunity to actually help out with a serious big league case.

Now they're thrown together, and it looks like the dominoes are going to start falling.

Alex had the phone call of his life. He was now put on two huge cases, one against a former Mayor, and a drug lord that was raided for more than 6 million dollars in drugs and weapons... that was last week. Now he was on the trial, a very public trial, a stick in the mud doctor was being sued by the clients for mal practice and now the state for the murder of his young girlfriend he was keeping in a penthouse around down. All three cases were centered around the same two months, and while Alex was ready for the promotion sure to come with all these big cases. However he was practical and knew his limits. His first call was to the boys. His boys. Waiting to hear good ideas from the other men he went to school with. David struck out, he didn't even have more than ten minutes to talk. Gabriel didn't pick up... and that left Stephen. He called and while it was loud on the other end, Stephen had time to talk. "So, tell me what you need my help for? Prosecution was not my strong suit." Stephen said and Alex sighed. He knew that, which was why he called the others first. "Any ideas how to organize. You're a big divorce lawyer... you must have had issues with big cases close together that needed a lot of attention." "I haven't had any that were that big, but you know you should check your email. I got that newsletter from Professor Hanson. He's look for candidates of previous graduates to do that thing that you got to do. What is it called." Clicking sounded on the phone like Stephen was trying to look up what it was called, but Alex already knew what he was talking about. "Genius. Thanks man. I am going to call Hanson now. I owe you a drink." Alex took his moment to start looking up the old guys number on his cell. "See you Friday." They both hung up at the same time and Alex didn't worry about anything other than getting the old professor on his own phone. "This can't be Alexander Dougenis calling me after 9 years." The old man had picked up right in the middle of class. Alex remembered being a student and having him answer calls from big shots. "Professor Hanson. I got your email about the selective internship." He waited as he heard a slight commotion on the other end. "I have three big cases coming up. I sure could use three students with the highest scores in class." Alex added and Professor Hanson already knew who they were. "I will send you the score, names, and set up a meeting for the four do you if you come down tomorrow for class. Teach these kids what it's like to sky rocket to the top of the ADA food chain." Alex laughed and agreed. "I have time tomorrow." Alex agreed and set the time before being done with the phone call. He leaned back, hoping the highest of the class this year would be like his class. Driven people who wanted to be like him. Succeed and climb the ladder to their real purpose. He got the files in, logged the evidence and had a partial time limit for lunch. He headed out and got his usual salad and vegetables. He knew he would head to his moms for dinner tonight as usual and check on his brothers. He would eat a lot and get to the town house in the city in time to get a good nights sleep. He came back to the office, headed out to the court house and was there until court adjourned. He had the files in his little case and he got on the subway headed for Jersey. He got off and walked the streets back to his childhood home. He saw kids in the street on skates with hockey sticks and some with scooters and skateboards. He made sure not to get hit by any of them. He got to the house and used his keys to get in. "Ma." Alex shouted through the house and got closer to the kitchen. "Alexander! Good you've come at last. I just sent your brothers down to the store to get some drinks." "All of them?" He laughed as he gave his mom a kiss on her cheek and moved to take his jacket off. "What do you need?" "Take the lamb out when the timer goes off. I am going to get these curlers out of my hair."  She tapped his shoulder and he took a second to get the gloves for the oven before realizing what she was doing. He headed to the dining room and saw an extra place setting and he sighed. "Ma... I hope whoever you've invited is for Dorian or Hector." Alex shouted and shook his head before hearing the alarm for the lamb. He headed to the kitchen and pulled the juicy meat out. He was caught pulling some apart and his mom slapped his hand. "You're 34 years old and you don't know how to wait to be served?" She shook her head and moved to fluff her hair. "Do you remember Arlene? She was three years after you?" She moved to wipe fake dust off the extra plate and smiled at her son. "No." Alex crossed his arms and licked his lips. "Is she the one that is coming?" "She is. I ran into her at the market yesterday morning when I was buying the lamb. She's moved back from her time in LA." Alex listened to his mother drag on and was thankful when his brothers came in talking loud. "What took you guys so long?"  "Alex." Mateo headed right for his brother and gave him a hug and slapped his back. "How was your first week at the plant?" Alex asked and Mateo started to talk about it and Alex made sure to pay attention so that when the door bell went off he was busy talking with his brother. "Boys." They all heard their mother and Alex was first to stand and then Mateo, Dorian, Hector, Lucas... and they all heard Nikos heading back in the room from the bathroom. "You remember Arlene? She lives three doors down again. She helped me bring home some bags from the store." "Hi." She waved and smiled and the boys all noticed how she looked at all of them in the eye and made sure to stare at Alex for the longest. Alex felt a little uncomfortable but nodded at her and then looked at the table. "Please come sit. Enjoy some catching up." Cora, their mom, tapped the shoulder of Mateo so he would get the hint and follow her and leave Alex alone.  Alex took a deep breath and turned to focus on the table. Nikos invited the girl to sit and she gravitated right next to him and smiled as he glanced at her. "Your mom said that you were a big lawyer now. Impressive." "Yeah I am. How about you? What did you do in LA?" He asked and kind of felt bad for asking since she started to blush. "I had the Arts degree and... I don't know if you remember but I can sing. I came back to try my hand at Broadway, or even off Broadway." She touched his arm and started to tell him a 'funny' story about a small part she got in a music video where some singer actually through a fit about lighting and being bloated. His eyes kind of glazed over and he thought that she would be really good to talk to if he needed to fall asleep later. "That's cool." He nodded along and was so thankful when his mother and Mateo came back in with the serving dishes. Alex took his role as head of the house seriously and started to serve everyone but him first. He served his mom and then Arlene since they were women before going youngest to oldest on the table. He got the last bit of everything and made sure that they were all waiting for him to get back before they started to eat. "Did my son tell you about how long he has been single. Three years! He's a catch. A big empty townhouse in the city, a job he lets run his life." "Ma." Alex cut her off and she just smiled and tapped his hand. "His father was just the same. Working all the time. Providing for us. All my Alex is missing is a new pretty wife and kids to treasure." Knowing now that there was no stopping her now Alex focused on his food and tuned them out. He made plans in his head about what he would talk about tomorrow in the class. It wasn't until he heard his brothers laughing, that he kind of refocused. "Big weddings are so beautiful. I went to my cousins when she married a Greek man and it was amazing." Alex jumped slightly when he felt Arlene's foot nudge his. 'Oh hell no' Alex thought as he shifted his knees completely away. There was no way that this woman and his mom were talking about weddings when 1, this was the first time she's even been to dinner, and 2, they weren't even dating. "So you must have a boyfriend missing you back in LA." Alex tried to get away from him being the ideal guy for this chick and his mom to cut out looking at him like he was already waiting next to the priest. "No... not for me. I was focused on my career when I was out there. No dating for me." "But that's changed n ow that you're back home. You were telling me about your date last week who accidently poured wine on you at that big fancy restaurant." Alex knew that his mom was trying to make him jealous, and it was a true face that Alex could be a jealous possessive man... but not with someone he didn't know and didn't care about. His brothers were smirking and smiling and stuffing their faces the whole night. When he looked at his watch and saw it was close to 8pm, he smiled and stood up. "Got to go now ma. Big day tomorrow." "Oh be a dear, I am sure now that dinner is over that Arlene needs to get home, walk her for me." She patted her sons face and kissed his cheek again before thanking Arlene for coming and showered her with wishes to see her soon. Alex grabbed his bag, his jacket, and made sure to keep his hands in his pockets as he led the way to her house. Arlene tried one last time to get closer and looped her arm through his. "Thank you for tonight Alex, your mom is amazing. Food was delicious." She told him and he just nodded along. "I'm here if you ever need me." "I usually only get out this way when I have down time or for family dinners. But thanks. Hope you find someone who won't toss wine on you. Good night." He backed off, nodding to her as she walked up the steps to the house and he made sure she got in before turning and not looking back. The night was still sort of young so when Alex got on the train home he tried to find a bakery open before he made it all the way home. Alex went in and got his madeleine cookies and headed down the street to the townhouse. He was half deep in the dozen he bought when he cracked a beer and headed to his home office. He quickly typed up the points he wanted to go over for the class tomorrow and he printed it out before going to bed. He flipped on the news and finished the beer, getting comfortable in the middle of his mattress he dozed off, glad he got that TV that turns itself off at midnight since that was what he wanted it to do. Today was just another normal Tuesday night. With added complications but not unusual. No matter what Alex told his mom... she would keep trying to set him up.
