Chapter two - Anniversary plans

2708 Words
Luke's POV: Hello, my name is Luke. I have a beautiful girlfriend named Abby. She is the only thing I need to have success in life. I had problems with my parents, making me leave their house early. Now I live in my grandparents' house with my girlfriend. It was hard for us in the beginning. Later, we managed to get used to it. I had to change my job to satisfy her. I started my second one as an assistant, and now, I have my team. Moving out at a young age made me realize many things. One is that you have to take of yourself because no one else will do it. If we don't count Abby, that is right. Well, my brother is helping me a lot. The thing is that now, Sam has two kids. Also, he got married to his girlfriend, Sarah. She is a great mom. Of course, she never forgets to mention how great this feels. I know what she wants. It's the same as everybody else. People wish Abby and me to have a baby. The thing is that none of us wants it. We are good the way we are. Babies take too much time and responsibility. None of us has this, especially when we talk about time. Both of us are busy, and a baby will make things worse. Maybe in the future, we might think about it. Probably, the answer still will be no. I don't want to kill everyone's hopes, but that won't happen soon. I'm glad someone cares for us, but the decision is ours. Look at our friends. Loren wanted to get pregnant for so long, but it's not working. I feel bad for her. That is the only thing she wants so much. Well, no one can control that. Maybe the doctor can help her. She deserves to be a mother like every woman. At least Abby and I don't have this problem. It's not like we don't have others. I won't talk about this now. I prefer to make plans for the future. I hope that Abby and I will have a perfect relationship that no one will break. It's Monday. Abby and I took two weeks off of work. Technically, I convinced her to do it. This week is our anniversary. It's this Friday, and I have planned to take her on a trip. She always wanted to go to Canada. That's why we are going to Montreal. I have never been there, but I know it's colder. We'll need warmer clothes. Besides that, everything else looked good. I checked some places that we could visit. There are many tourist destinations, but she will like this one. Many couples go to Paris. Abby is not a fan of this city. Well, I might take her there one day. I woke up and looked next to me. Abby was still sleeping. I will use the chance to go and make breakfast. Usually, whoever gets up first prepares the food. That happens only if it's not repetitive too much. Otherwise, I can fight with her. Well, it's our type of fight. I will never do it for real. I walked into the kitchen and left my phone on the table. Last night, I checked our hotel once again on my laptop. I wanted to make sure everything was ok. I turned it on and went to prepare the food. Then, I received a video call. It was from Sam. - Hello. - Hey, little brother. - Can you stop calling me like that? I am almost twenty-five. - Even if you are sixty, you still will be my little brother. - I don't even know if I will get there. - You will. Abby won't let you leave her alone. - We'll see about that. - What are you doing? - I was about to make breakfast. - Nice. What is the menu? - French toast. I ran out of options. - I said, chuckling - No matter what you cook, she will eat it. Abby loves it when you cook for her. - Well, she has no choice. If she doesn't like it, she has to make it herself. - What is the plan for your anniversary? I don't think you told me. - I decided to take her on vacation for a week. - That's nice. Which city will you visit? - Montreal. - What? I thought it would be in the country. - Yes, but Abby always wanted to go to Canada. - You need to wear warm clothes. It's cold there. - I know. Hopefully, the weather will be good. - I believe you have planned activities. - Yes, I did. Well, I have checked what we can do. I will let her decide. - I don't know if she is lucky or you. - Me, of course. - I might say both. Look at her. She is getting spoiled every day. You have a person who will never leave you. I mean, even if you go to jail. - I don't want to go there. - I said, chucking - That's not what I meant. - I know. How are Sarah and the kids? - Good. - The big one is going to kindergarten, right? - Yes, it is. We can try with Ace as well, but he is too little. - Why don't you wait? As I see it, Sarah doesn't want to go to work, so I don't see a problem. - She wanted him to play with kids like his sister. - Hey, she is older. He turned one year old two months ago. What do you expect? Leave the kid to breathe. - Said the boy who doesn't want to have one. - Let's not talk about this again. Otherwise, I might get mad at you. - Ok, ok. You better make breakfast. Abby might wake up soon. - Abby is awake and mad that she had to do it alone. I looked up to see her glaring at me. I know she is not mad, but I hate doing this to her. After all, I am the same. Maybe that is why we are dating. It's not like I am complaining. - Ok, brother. I will call you later. - No problem. - Bye. - Bye. - Sam said, and I ended the call - Are you mad? - I am hungry. - Ok, ok. I will make you something. - No need to. I can make it on my own. - Come on. Don't be a drama queen. - I'm not. I'm saying that you don't need to cook for me. - You know I like doing it. - Yes, but I'm not a princess. I have chores as well. - Not this week. - Why? - Because I want to spoil you. - What have you done? - Nothing. - Tell me. I know you are hiding something. - I am not. I like spending time with you. - Me too, but I won't spoil you all the time. - The mistake is not mine. - Really? Maybe I have to go to work. - No! This is our week. - You made me take two weeks. Why? - Because we need a break. When was the last time we had a week for ourselves? - Two months ago. - No, I was sick then and had to stay at home. You were at work. Then you got sick as well. That doesn't count. - Ok, fine. What will we do today? I don't want to stay inside. - Maybe Loren and Jason will go out with us. - Because they are our only friends, right? - Not only that. We have some things in common. - I will text her. - Cool. We decided to go for lunch together. There is a new restaurant which opened two weeks ago. Abby and I still haven't eaten there. We walked in and sat at a table. There were many people here. Probably it's because the restaurant is still new. The menu has a lot of Chinese food. Then I looked around and realized it was a Chinese restaurant. Now I understand. Well, I would love to try their rice. I know that is the main meal in the country. It goes with everything. After half an hour of wondering, we finally chose something. - The food looks great. - Abby said - It's delicious. - Loren said and took a bite - I would like it if you cooked this at home. - Jason said - First, I need to know the recipe. - You can ask the chef. - As if he will tell me. - You never know. - Abby, are you ok? You don't eat much. - I said - I'm not hungry. I overate for breakfast. - Can I help with something? - Stop cooking so good, and I won't be that fat. - Excuse me? You have a fast metabolism and are not fat at all. - Let's say that I believe you. - The door to my house is always open. You can move out anytime you want. - You know what? I'm good. The food is excellent. - Be careful what you say next time. - I will. Thanks. After lunch, we walked around. Later, we went with Loren and Jason to the hospital. They have an appointment with a doctor. There must be a reason why she can't get pregnant. They came out after thirty minutes. I guess the news is not good. Loren didn't look happy. Hopefully, her wish will come true. - What happened? - Abby asked - Nothing. - Loren said - Tell me. - I did. The doctor said there was nothing wrong with me. - Then why can't you get pregnant? - I don't know. She said to stop trying for a while and continue later. If there is no result in the next five months, I should come again. - For how long do you need to stop trying? - Two months. Then we can try again. - So, you can't do it for two months? - I asked - We can, but we have to be safe. - Jason said - I understand. Hey, don't be sad. The good news is that you are fine. - I am not ok. Nothing is wrong with me, but I can't get what I want. - Loren said - The baby will come when you don't expect it. - I hope so. Jason and I bought the girls ice cream. Later, we sat at one park. I don't know if that will make them feel better, but I don't know what to do. I think Loren needs a distraction. I gave a sign to Jason so he could follow me. - Is there a problem? - You need to distract Loren. - What? Why? - Because she only thinks about this. Why don't you take a little trip? It can be for the weekend. - That is not a bad idea. She needs to calm down a bit. - Exactly. We know she is stressed, but thinking about this won't make her feel better. As her boyfriend, you need to do something. - Thanks for the idea. The question is where I should take her. - You can go to the nearest city. It doesn't need to be far away. Make sure she feels good. - I will do that for sure. - Let's go to see the girls now. I don't know about you. Leaving mine alone is not something I like. - What about your anniversary? It's this week. Right? - Yes. We are going to Montreal. - Nice. - It will be when I tell her. - Is this supposed to be a surprise? - Something like that? Abby has dreamed of going to Canada for a while. - At least you will make her dream come true. - I will try. Hopefully, she will like the vacation. - Since you made it, she will love it. If you haven't noticed, she loves everything you do. - I'm trying my best not to disappoint her. - That will never happen. No matter what you do, she will always love you. Remember that. - It's not the first time I hear it. My brother says the same. - Well, he didn't lie. Abby is obsessed with you. The good news is that you are, too. - I am not obsessed with her. - I won't be so sure. You can't leave her alone for five minutes. - Hey, I am doing it now. - Yes, and you look at her every five seconds. You can't fool me, man. - Ok, ok. Maybe I am a bit obsessed. - There is nothing wrong with that. When you truly love someone, you are ready to do anything for them. - That's exactly what I do. - See? It's ok to show your appreciation for someone. - I think I need to change the strategy. I mean, we do the same things over and over again. - Maybe she can take the lead. - I will think about this. Let's go now. - I said, and he laughed - You are a little bit obsessed. - Ok, I get it. We stayed in the park for a while. Around dinnertime, we were at home. We could order dinner, but then I got another idea. Abby and I can cook dinner together. That is a way we can spend more time together. It's not like we don't do it every day. Well, I know she loved doing it. Honestly, it's not only her. Maybe Jason is right. We are obsessed with each other. I don't see it as that bad, but we should be around other people, too. In my defense, I will say that we go to work every day. We talk to many people daily. Sadly, that is not a valid excuse. After an hour, dinner was ready. I helped Abby with the table. We didn't talk while preparing the food, but I saw the smile on her face. Sometimes, no words are needed. - How is the food? - I asked - Perfect. After all, we made it. - I'm glad that you like it. If something goes wrong, we can always order something. - That is too easy. I like doing things with you. Cooking is one of them. - It's music for my ears. - Do you think she will get pregnant? - Loren? I don't know. I'm not a woman, but these things take time. People who get it the first time are lucky. - She feels horrible. - I know, but we can't help. I can try, but what if she gets a positive test? I don't want to be the father of her baby or father at all. - I let you help them, but don't go too far. - Don't worry. I know where to stop. There is a line that I won't cross. - Good boy. - I wonder when you will be a good girl. - I always am. - Only when I tell you what to do. - Excuse me. - You are not excused. - I said and laughed - Very funny. Be good, or you will sleep on the couch. - Yes, ma'am. - Good. The rest of the night, Abby and I spent at home. We watched a movie and ate some snacks. I can't wait for our vacation to come. She has no idea about it. I will make sure she has the best trip in her life. The fact that we'll go to her dream place is a good start. Then I have to take care of everything else. I will do some of the things when we arrive. Well, I haven't planned everything. The activities I leave to her. I will take care only on Friday. I have some things in mind. That's why I want to see them in action. We'll see how it goes. I hope that we'll have a great time.
