Chapter 11 I WENT TO BED THAT night with a heavy heart. Matlock, Tavlor, and I had eaten dinner, then I’d decided to retire to my room without waiting for Ava to return, as much as I wanted to see her. I was exhausted from the day’s events, and I was ready to crawl into bed and sleep. Except I couldn’t fall asleep. I tossed and turned, trying to get comfortable, but my mind was too noisy, too full. I wasn’t sure the exact time when I heard Ava arrive home. Part of me wanted to get up and talk to her about Courtney, but the other part wanted to stay in bed, even if it was difficult for me to fall asleep. Besides, Ava was probably exhausted and didn’t want to talk after a long day. I didn’t think it even had to do with the pregnancy, although I was sure that went into it. I stayed tucked
