Chapter Seven

794 Words
Waking up the following morning was a bit different to Zoie. Usually, she would wake up from the couch and prepare for the day. There would be a nice breakfast out for her and Tobias to eat then they’d later decide on doing something. Today, Zoie woke up in her bed. Tobias laid next to her sleeping peacefully. Standing up, Zoie strolled towards her window and watched out to see orange flowers presently praising the red and yellow ones. The climate was amazingly excellent as butterflies and honey bees flew around the area, the sun sparkled splendidly as birds sang, and a little breeze blew the trees delicately. Zoie realized that the reason for this was her; however, she made no effort to change anything.  She was truly happy and it showed. Unobtrusively, Zoie left the room leaving a tired Tobias to rest. As Zoie strolled down the steps, her contemplations quickly went towards her sisters. She hadn’t spoken to Simone or Kira in months. Zoie could recall feeling extremely angry at the both of them — Kira for attempting to kill Simone and Simone for stopping Zoie from killing Kira. Zoie remembered that they were fighting against soldiers from Runne and had no clue as to why Kira decided to attempt to kill her eldest sister.  “Morning!” Tobias announced. Turning around, Zoie walked up the stairs to meet Tobias halfway. Slowly, she grabbed his hand and led him down the staircase.  “How did you sleep?” Zoie asked.  “Better than I ever have.” Tobias answered. As hours passed by, Zoie and Tobias had started their day with breakfast as usual and enjoyed the beautiful weather. As they now walked around the large field surrounding the home, Zoie couldn’t find herself but to wonder why Tobias hadn’t reached out to his family since arriving at her home. Swinging their arms as they held hands, Tobias smiled to himself.  “Have you spoke to any of your family since being here?” Zoie asked. “I’ve had your phone charged for a while now.”  Tobias shook his head. “I’ve been enjoying my life right now. I’ve been in paradise and I know they’ll take me from cloud nine and shove me back into reality the moment I speak to them.”  “This is reality, Tobi. I’m not going anywhere. I’ll always be here for whatever you need. I’d give you the world.” Zoie mumbled. Tobias froze as Zoie rubbed his hand to reassure him that everything was fine. Suddenly, Tobias began to pull Zoie down so they could both sit. “What are you doing, sir?”  Tobias chuckled at the nickname. “I just want to sit, my darling.”  Gradually, Zoie ended up coming to stroke Tobias' face. She watched his eyes gradually shut as he relaxed. Inclining nearer, Zoie halted until she was looking straight at his lips.  “May I try something?” Zoie whispered. Tobias said nothing as he nodded. The wind picked up as Zoie and Tobias moved closer to one another. As Zoie's eyes at long last shut, Tobias' delicate lips contacted hers while the breeze blew more enthusiastically. Setting his arm around Zoie's waist, Tobias smiled into the kiss as he took in the moment. Zoie pulled away and opened her eyes slowly. Tobias’ eyes opened and his lips parted while Zoie smiled softly at him. As Zoie stared at him, she began to notice that his eyes were becoming filled with tears. As Zoie opened her mouth to speak, Tobias’ broken voice cut her off.  “It’s you.” He whispered.  Confused, Zoie turned her head to look around only to see no one else. Slowly, she faced Tobias with furrowed eyebrows and a frown. Tobias’ had a shocked expression on his face as the tears rolled down his cheek. “What?” Zoie asked.  “It’s really you, Z. I can see you.” He revealed.  Zoie stared at the man in shock before looking down at her hands. Looking back at him, Zoie blinked away the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes. He smiled brightly as she continued to stare in shock and confusion. "Tobi?" Zoie wound up asking clearly, still too stunned to even consider whatever else to say. Saying nothing, Tobias grabbed Zoie by the chin and placed his lips onto hers again. Wrapping her arms around Tobias’ neck, Zoie pulled him into her arms and hugged him tightly as the wind blew and a beautiful rainbow formed around the house.
