Chapter one
CARA—
“She Is a witch!!” the voices ranted in my head while I tried to catch my breath.
I lifted my head slowly while breathing heavily, shakingly I stared at my figure sitting flat on the floor with cleaning items scattered around the floor while I tried all my best to hold in my tears of pain.
“Why do you waste your time on a lowly maid like that, we all know she is a witch you don't have to stress yourself anymore.” another maid said while the meanest of them rushed up to me and threw the dirty water she had in her hand all over me.
But I still made no movement but sat there weeping from within… I won't let them get to me so easily.
“I don’t know what the alpha even sees in her.” Another maid said before walking out.
When I was sure that they had left. I stood up and looked down at the messed up floor, none of the things they just did hurted me more than the fact that I had to redo all the cleaning from the very start.
I never wanted this kind of life for myself, being the mate to a cruel and heartless alpha. It was a far cry from the life I had once known, before everything changed.
A flashback from ten years ago suddenly flooded my mind, taking me back to a time when our palace was raided and my parents, who were the alpha and Luna at the time, were brutally killed. The memory came unbidden, like a haunting specter that refused to let me forget.
I was just a young girl then, barely fifteen, with dreams and aspirations for my future. But that night, everything I knew and loved was torn away from me, leaving me with nothing but the weight of my responsibilities as the new alpha's maid.
The had been swift and ruthless. I remembered the chaos and the screams the smell of blood and the sound of bones breaking. It was a nightmare that had become my reality, my life forever altered.
In the midst of the chaos, my parents had fought valiantly to protect our pack. But in the end, they were outnumbered and overpowered.
And that was were I stopped remembering anything about my past which always made me feel so much pain,
I closed my eyes, trying to push away the memories that threatened to overwhelm me.
“I won’t ever let them get to me because I am way stronger than them and I still hold my identity a secret.” I murmured to myself before packing up everything and returning to my previous job.
After cleaning all day I stared at the sparkling clean environment feeling very proud of all my efforts with a smile.
“Good job.” A muscular voice said from behind me making me about to jerk up in fright, I knew it was no one other than alpha Oliver .
I breathed in and out few times before turning around.
“I hope you are enjoying the chores given to you.” He asked while I continue to put on a pretense smile.
“Why are you doing this to me, Alpha Oliver?” I asked, trying to hold in the hatred I felt for him.
“Because you are mine and I can do whatever to you.” Oliver replied with a smirk as he stared at my figure lustfully.
“And why aren’t you putting on the dress I instructed for cleaning?” He questioned with a frown as he rushes up to me and pulls me by hair aggressively while pulling me even more closer to him with my waist.
“You should always learn to follow instructions if you want to continue being my maid.” He whispered aggressively.
“I don’t want to be your maid so you can just as well as take everything with you.” I said back and the next his huge hands landed on my face making me lose balance and fall flat to the floor.
I slowly proceeded to stand up when I noticed the maids who bullied me earlier were all watching me with a wicked smile on their face, now the slap hurts even more.
I winced as pain shot through my face, the sting of the slap still lingering. But I refused to let it break me. My gaze locked with Oliver's, defiance burning in my eyes.
"You think you can break me with your violence, Alpha? You underestimate my strength," I spat, my voice trembling with a mix of anger and determination.
Alpha Oliver's eyes narrowed, his grip on my hair tightening. "You dare speak to me like that? You forget your place, little witch."
I could feel the power of his dominance radiating off him, but I refused to cower.
Alpha Oliver's grip on my hair tightened even further, causing me to wince in pain. His eyes bore into mine, filled with a mixture of anger and amusement.
"You think you can defy me, little witch?" he sneered, his voice dripping with contempt. "I am the alpha, and you are nothing more than a lowly maid. Know your place."
I gritted my teeth, refusing to let his words break me. I had endured enough pain and humiliation in my life, and I wasn't about to let him overpower me.
"I may be a maid in your eyes, but I am still a person," I retorted, my voice steady despite the fear that coursed through me. "I won't let you strip me of my dignity."
Alpha Oliver's grip on my hair loosened slightly, but his eyes remained filled with malice. "You will learn your place, one way or another," he growled.
Before I could react, he turned to one of the guards standing nearby. "Take her to my chambers," he commanded, his voice cold and authoritative.
The guard, a burly man with a stern expression, nodded and stepped forward. He grabbed my arm roughly, his grip like a vice. I winced at the pain, but I refused to show any weakness.
As the guard led me through the palace corridors, I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread. I had heard stories of what happened to the women who were taken to Alpha Oliver's chambers, and none of them were pleasant.
But I couldn't let fear consume me. I had to find a way to escape this nightmare, to reclaim my freedom and my life.
We reached a set of grand double doors, and the guard pushed them open, revealing a lavish bedroom. The room was adorned with expensive furniture and intricate tapestries, a stark contrast to the coldness that emanated from alpha Oliver.
Alpha Oliver followed closely behind us, his eyes filled with a predatory hunger. "Leave us," he commanded the guard, who nodded and quickly exited the room, leaving me alone with the alpha.
I stood in the center of the room, my heart pounding in my chest. Alpha Oliver circled me like a predator, his eyes never leaving my form.
"You can't escape me, Cara," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "You are mine, and I will do with you as I please."
I took a deep breath, summoning all the courage I had left. "I may be a maid who was sold here, but I will never be yours," I said defiantly. "I will fight you every step of the way."
Alpha Oliver's eyes flashed with anger, and before I could react, he lunged towards me, pinning me against the wall. His grip on my wrists was bruising, his face inches away from mine.
"You will learn to submit to me, Cara," he hissed, his breath hot against my skin. "I will break you, one way or another."
Just as he was about to clasp his lips on mine I heard my inner wolf announce the most treacherous news to me.
“MATE!!” My inner wolf jumped in excitement while Oliver stared at me in much more shock than I was.
“You are my mate?” Alpha Oliver asked, suddenly letting go of me as I staggered to the ground.
I tried my best to hold the tears that was about to pour out of me as I continued to feel my wolf jump in excitement.
“That can’t be true!!”alpha Oliver yelled in annoyance as he scattered the flowers in his bedroom due to rage.
Here I was already resenting the life I got fortunate of unknown to me that the moon goddess was planning on joining the both of us together.
“Get out..!” Alpha Oliver yelled, making me return back to my senses as I stood up in annoyance.
“I thought you were planning on making me yours? Well now the moon goddess has granted your wish by making me your mate and now you are chasing me out.” I was still very stunned at what was happening.
“Get out cara!!” He yelled making me shiver in fear as I stepped backward in fright.
“What has gotten over you Alpha Oliver??” I asked .
“Don’t you dare to ever call me by my name just because I found you amusing and for your information you aren’t my mate!!” He exclaimed .
As Alpha Oliver's words echoed in my ears, a wave of disbelief and heartbreak washed over me. The realization hit me like a punch to the gut, leaving me gasping for air.
I had allowed myself to hope, to believe that maybe, just maybe, there was a glimmer of love and compassion buried deep within him. But now, all those hopes were shattered, replaced by a cold and bitter reality.
Tears welled up in my eyes, threatening to spill over. I had endured so much pain and humiliation, all in the name of love. And now, to be rejected so callously, it felt like a knife through my already wounded heart.
I tried to hold back the tears, to maintain a facade of strength, but the pain was too overwhelming. It consumed me, wrapping its icy tendrils around my heart, squeezing the life out of me.
Alpha Oliver's face twisted with a mixture of anger and disgust as he looked at me. "You were never meant to be my mate," he spat, his words like venom. "You are nothing more than a burden, a mistake."
