CARA—-
————
I woke up with a pounding headache, regret coursing through my veins. The events of last night played like a broken record in my mind. How could I have been so reckless? I barely knew this stranger, yet I had allowed myself to be vulnerable in his presence.
As I groggily opened my eyes, I found myself still lying in the unfamiliar room. The warmth of the morning light seeping through the curtains brought a sense of clarity, and I realized the gravity of my actions.
I sat up, feeling a wave of dizziness wash over me. The stranger, whose name I still didn't know, was nowhere to be seen. Panic began to rise within me. What if he had left while I was still asleep? What if he regretted the moments we shared?
But just as those thoughts consumed me, the door creaked open, and he walked in carrying a tray with a cup of coffee and some painkillers. Relief flooded through me, and I couldn't help but smile weakly at him.
"Good morning," he said, his voice soft and warm. "I thought you might need these."
I took the painkillers gratefully, downing them with a sip of the coffee. The caffeine started to work its magic, clearing my foggy mind. I looked at him, unsure of how to address the events of last night.
"I'm sorry," I murmured, my voice filled with shame. "I shouldn't have... I mean, I don't even know your name."
He smiled gently, his eyes full of understanding. "My name is Iann Truce.”he said, his voice soothing. "And there's no need to apologize. We all have moments of vulnerability."
I nodded, grateful for his kindness. "I just... I needed someone, and you were there. I hope I didn't overstep any boundaries."
“You….” the strange was about to begin when he got obstructed by a phone call which he immediately answered and from there slowly walked out unknown to me that I wont be seeing him for a while.
I stared around and noticed I was still in the bar I entered making me jerk up immediately and pack up anything necessary before rushing out in panic.
That's when i came face to face with the head maid from the palace and she was not alone but with the guards.
“You thought you could run away? You might be alpha Oliver mate but you are still beneath me and my servant.”
As I stood face to face with the head maid and the guards, a sense of dread washed over me. I knew I couldn't escape the fate that awaited me at the palace. The head maid, Mrs. Blackwood, had always held a certain power over me, and now she had the perfect opportunity to exert it.
Her eyes narrowed with a mix of triumph and disdain. "Well, well, Cara DeLeviene," she sneered. "Running away, are we? Did you really think you could escape your responsibilities as the maid of Alpha Oliver?"
I swallowed hard, my throat dry with fear. "I... I didn't mean to run away," I stammered. "I just needed some time alone, Mrs. Blackwood."
She scoffed, a cruel smile playing on her lips. "Time alone? You should be grateful that the Alpha even chose you as his maid after rejecting you. You are nothing but a lowly wolf, Cara. I should have known better than to let you roam freely."
The guards stepped forward, their expressions cold and emotionless. They grabbed my arms roughly, their grip tight and painful. I winced, feeling the bruises forming beneath their grasp.
“Let go of me!!” I yelled hoping to at least get an audience from Iann but no one came till I was bundled into the car.
Here I thought Alpha Oliver was the only person I hated the most but my first day out into the world and a stranger took me for granted.
Alpha King Iann—-
“Get the car ready, I think I found my mate” I said to my beta on the phone as I adjusted my tie ready to leave, just then the memories of last night came rushing through my mind as I smiled.
I can't still believe I met my mate in a bar and she is just as beautiful as I had always wanted. After making sure the ride was ready I went back to the room and to my greatest surprise, she was nowhere to be found.
I stormed back into the room, frustration boiling within me. How could she just disappear like that? I had felt such a strong connection with her, and now she was gone. It felt like a cruel twist of fate.
I searched the room frantically, hoping to find some clue as to where she had gone. But there was nothing. No note, no indication of her plans. It was as if she had vanished into thin air.
Anger swirled inside me, mixing with the sense of loss. How could she run away after knowing we were mates? Didn't she feel the connection too? Or was it all just a game to her?
My wolf snarled, eager to track her down and bring her back. But I knew I had to approach this situation carefully. I couldn't let my anger consume me. I needed to find her and understand why she had run away.
——
It had been few months since I lost the only mate that I connected to and whom felt the same way with me and no matter how I go about it, I still couldn’t find her I even trace her whereabouts.
“Alpha, what are you going to do now? I know how desperate you were to find your mate and now you found her but she doesn't seem to feel the same for you.” my beta said a few days after I had given up on my search .
“We found nothing alpha.” One of the guards informed me for the third time in a row as I stared at his exhausted face from the trip . He must be very tired from searching continuously for something that was never lost.
“Stop the search, it's meaningless now.” I said to them, for good.
As the sun began to set, I returned to the palace, defeated and disheartened. The search for my mate, Cara, had yielded no results. It seemed as though she had vanished without a trace, leaving me with a sense of emptiness.
I couldn't understand why she would run away. The connection we had felt was undeniable, and yet she had chosen to escape from it. It felt like a betrayal, a rejection that cut deep into my soul.
That night, as I lay in bed, exhaustion weighing heavily on my shoulders, sleep finally claimed me. But instead of finding solace in dreams, I was greeted with a vivid vision.
I found myself standing in a grand hallway, adorned with opulent chandeliers and intricate tapestries. The air was heavy with the scent of polished wood and fresh flowers. And there, in the midst of it all, was Cara.
She was dressed in a maid's uniform, her eyes downcast as she diligently went about her tasks. The sight of her in such a position sent a pang of sadness through my heart. How had she ended up here?
And when I tried to pull her out she vanished leaving me at the outskirts of the town.
I stared at the banner up and it was written boldly. “The Strauss tribe”
Just then I woke up from my dream with a smile. I guess this time around the moon goddess really wanted to favor me more.
The next morning I made sure my beta and my best and most trustworthy guards were ready to accompany me to the Strauss tribe. I was ready to find her no matter what because from what I saw she was in a poor state and might be suffering and I won't let my mate be a victim of wickedness.
As we made our way to the palace of Alpha Oliver, I couldn't help but feel a mix of anticipation and anxiety. What if Cara was no longer there? What if I had missed my chance to find her?
But I pushed those thoughts aside, focusing on the task at hand. I needed to find her, to bring her back to the safety and love she deserved.
When we arrived at the palace, I was greeted by a group of guards, their expressions wary and suspicious. I understood their caution. After all, I was an Alpha King, and my presence in another pack's territory could be seen as a threat.
"I am Alpha King Iann," I announced, my voice firm and commanding. "I am here to speak with Alpha Oliver. It is of utmost importance."
The guards exchanged glances, clearly unsure of how to proceed. But after a few moments, one of them nodded and led us inside the palace.
As we walked through the grand halls, I couldn't help but notice the opulence and wealth that surrounded me. It was a stark contrast to the vision I had seen of Cara in my dream. I wondered how she had ended up in such a place.
Finally, we reached Alpha Oliver's study, and I was ushered inside. The room was adorned with bookshelves and intricate artwork, a reflection of Alpha Oliver's refined taste.
Alpha Oliver himself sat behind a large desk, his expression guarded. "Alpha King Iann," he greeted, his voice laced with caution. "To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?"
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. "I am here in search of my mate, Cara DeLeviene," I stated firmly. "I believe she may be in your palace."
Alpha Oliver's eyes widened in surprise, and he exchanged a quick glance with his beta. "Cara DeLeviene?" he repeated, his voice filled with confusion.
“She is indeed in this palace but I can't let you see her.” alpha Oliver said.
“Why?”
“Because she is my mate.” he announced making me scoff.
“Take Me to her she knows who I am and I wasn't asking if she was your mate or not.” I said while alpha Oliver stared at me with a fierce look… it was clear how angry he was at me.
But one thing I was sure of was the moon goddess would never a mistake on who my real mate is.
“How do you know her?” he questioned.
“When she gets here we would answer all your questions.” I replied.
“Call for Cara.” alpha Oliver said to his beta.
CARA——
I wish I could explain how I felt to someone, I was suddenly having morning sickness and getting nauseous easily. My body felt different, and I couldn't shake the feeling that something had changed within me.
Or was I pregnant for that stranger? It can't be!!… I know it has been few months but I still can’t accept the fact even with all the symptoms.
As I sat in my room, lost in my thoughts, the door swung open and a group of guards entered. They claimed that I had a visitor, someone who insisted on seeing me. Confusion washed over me. Who could possibly want to see me?
Reluctantly, I followed the guards out of the room and down the grand halls of the palace. My heart raced with anticipation and anxiety. I had no idea who awaited me, and the unknown made me uneasy.
Finally, we reached a study, and the guards opened the door, revealing two powerful-looking Alphas. One was Alpha King Iann, the man I had met in the bar and felt an undeniable connection with. The other was Alpha Oliver, the Alpha of the Strauss tribe and apparently my mate.
I couldn't believe my eyes. How had this happened? How could I have two mates? The confusion and fear swirled within me, threatening to overwhelm my senses.
Alpha Oliver's eyes bore into mine, his expression a mix of anger and possessiveness. "Cara," he growled, his voice filled with authority. "Explain yourself. How could you run away from me?"
Just then my inner wolf jumped in anticipation, what was going on?
Just then my mate replied “MATE!!”
It can't be, Alpha King Iann is my second chance mate.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heart. "I didn't run away from you," I replied, my voice trembling slightly. "I didn't even know you were my mate until now."
Alpha King Iann stepped forward, his eyes filled with concern. "Cara, I've been searching for you," he said softly.
“She is my mate and you can't take her anywhere with you…” Alpha Oliver said with a fierce look.
“You don't have a say now Oliver, Alpha King Iann is my second chance mate.” I said with so much confidence and joy as I was finally going to be free from Oliver for good or maybe not.
