LAURA'S FAMILY HOUSE Laura sat quietly at the edge of the room, her fingers tightening around the edges of her skirt. She didn’t look at him; she didn’t want to, but she could feel Miguel's presence beside her. She had longed for a moment like this, when he'd come back to her to make things right. But in this moment, he felt like a stranger she wanted nothing to do with. “You’re unreliable, Miguel. I can't trust your words. I just can't," she finally spoke, trying to sound as firm as possible.
