Rita sat in the Brown family's living room, her nerves on edge. Alice, Isaac's mother, sat across from her in an armchair, her piercing gaze making Rita feel smaller with every passing second. It was a familiar feeling whenever she was around her mother-in-law.
Taking a deep breath, Rita finally broke the silence. “Alice, I wanted to talk to you about Isaac… and Miguel,” she said.
Alice raised an eyebrow, her tone cool and detached. “Go on,” she replied.
From her response, Rita suspected she was aware of everything. She hesitated, choosing her words carefully. “I’m worried that Isaac’s refusal to return Miguel’s properties is going to cause serious trouble for the family. If he doesn’t change his approach, this could escalate beyond repair,” she said.
