THE BEGINNING
My name is Samuel Weston IIXX, and this is Aldenmire, a kingdom ruled by King Henry Wingston IV, and his son, Prince Edward Wingston. And for centuries, Aldenmire has been fighting for freedom, because there is one man who rules over all of the land and seas. And whoever mentions his name is stricken with fear, and his name, is Lord Volkmann. No one has ever seen him before, and because his army is so powerful, they called them The Knights of Death. And because of how long this war has been, we've lost most of our army, and we don't know how much longer we'll stand.
"Fire!" Yelled the captain.
"Captain , we're run out of boulders," said one of the knights.
"Load the ballistas, set some wood on fire, and aim for their dynamite," said the captain.
"Yes sir," said I. So me and about ten other knights went to do what the captain said, but while we were loading the ballistas, a huge fireball blew up one of the them, killing three knights.
"Captain, where did that come from?" said I.
The captain's eyes widened.
"No way, that's impossible. Load those ballistas faster, now!" said the captain.
And what the captain saw was no joke. Somehow, The Knights of Death had a dragon with them, and now had an advantage.
"Load the ballistas, and aim for that dragon!" said the captain.
"Yes sir," said I. This time, no fireballs destroyed the ballistas, for now. And when we shot at the dragon, it completely deflected the harpoons as if they were twigs.
"It's scales are made of some sort of metal," said one of the knights.
"I can see that. Retreat!" the captain shouted. Our entire army retreated, except me, because I don't retreat, I fight!
"What's he doing?" said the captain.
"It looks like he's going to fight!" said one of the knights.
"He'll never survive. Get him out of there!"
As I got on my horse, the dragon shot another fireball. But what I didn't know, is that it was heading straight for me!
"Sir Weston, look out!" shouted the captain. But before I could get my shield, the huge fireball blew me right off of my horse. And when I woke up, I was looking into the eyes of my beloved, Sharon Anderson.
"Captain, he's awake," she said.
"Good, you may leave now, and thank you for your hospitality," said the captain.
"Yes sir, and you're welcome,"
Then she left us.
"What happened? Did we win?" said I.
"No, we didn't win. What were you thinking? You can't take them all on at once."
"I thought I could get to the dynamite," said I.
"You could've been killed Weston."
"I know, sorry captain, it won't happen again."
"Good. How are you feeling?"
"A little dizzy, but for the most part I'm good."
"Strong enough to walk?"
"Yup, doesn't take me very long to get my strength back," said I, rising.
"Good," said the captain, "because the king is having a meeting, and he wants us to be there, he said it's important,"
"Yes sir. Just let me get my armor on, and we'll be on our way," I replied. So after I got my armor on, me and the captain went to see the king. And when we got there, the king was looking at us with a concerned look.
"Finally, you're here," said the king.
"We're sorry Your Majesty, it's just that Sir Weston was limping a little," the captain said.
"Is that so? How are you feeling Sir Weston?" the king asked.
"Well, just a little dizzy, with an injured leg, but okay Your Majesty," I replied.
"Good, now come and see what I've found. You see this map? It's a map of the Island of Spirits."
"What! I've always thought the island was a myth."
"So did I, but now that I'm holding this map, it's no longer a myth. "This map has to at least be five hundred years old, because look at the name that's written on the back, it's the name the greatest knight who ever lived, Sir Samuel Weston the First, one of the first knights to ever protect Aldenmire. Do you know where I found it? No? Well, I decided to take a walk around the castle, and while I was walking, I noticed that the painting at the end of one of the halls was crooked. And when I went to it, I noticed it was the painting of Sir Weston the First. And when I tried to straighten it, the wall opened up, and what found was Sir Weston the First's armor inside. But that's not all I saw, I also saw a table, with this map on it, so I grabbed the map, and shut the secret door behind me as I walked out, and that's when I called you two here. And by the looks of it, it looks like Sir Weston the First has been searching for something."
"Do you know what he was looking for?" the captain asked
"There was a book next to the map, and it looked like he was writing about it, but that page was ripped out, and all that I know is that it's very powerful. He must've taken the map of how to get there, so I don't think we'll be getting anywhere."
"Is that all Your Majesty?"
"I'm afraid so, but thank you for coming," King Henry said.
"Anytime Your Majesty," I said, bowing. After we had left the king we had decided to walk around the castle, and search for the hall that King Wingston was talking about.
"I found the painting," I said, pointing to a nearby painting of Sir Weston the First.
"You did?" the captain asked, coming back to have a look. "Well by golly it is"
"Let's go check it out, I want to see what's inside," said I.
"But what if someone spots us?"
"That could be a possibility. but we have to see the place for ourselves."
"But what could we possibly find that's of great importance?"
"There's the book, number one. Number two: the king was so excited that he probably missed something," I replied.
"Ugh! Fine. But if we get caught, you'll be the one to blame."
"Fine, whatever you say captain," said I.
Soon, me and the captain were inside the secret chamber.
"It's the Secret Chamber, or somthing like that," I said with a chuckle.
And right as I said that, the captain glanced at me as if to say, "where in the world did you hear that?"
"What? I thought it was the right time to say it," I said.
"Where in the world did you hear that?"
Called it! I thought.
"Well, where did you hear it?"
"I read it in a book."
"Which book?"
"Some book about wizards and this kid with a lightning bolt scar on his forhead," said I.
"And where did you get it?" he asked.
"I found it in a chest in an abandoned village, I think it was from Earth."
"I'm sorry I asked," the captain said, walking away.
As I stood there, I saw the old book laying upon the wood table. When I opened it, I saw a drawing that looked exactly like the map the king had shown us, but with notes all over it. "Captain, come here, you have to see this," I called.
"What is it? What did you find?"
"A map."
"A map of what?"
"The Island of Spirits."
"What! let me see it." Then he paused. "Wait!" he continued, "I thought the king said there was no information about what Sir Weston the First was looking for?"
"He did, that's what's so surprising," said I.
"Well, it's not like we can ask him, he's the king," the captain pointed out.
"You're right, let's keep searching, there has to be something else in here," I said, putting the book down. A few moments later, as we were searching the chamber, I noticed that there was a c***k behind the old fireplace that was there. When I went to looked at it, I saw a light coming through it. "There's light coming from behind the fireplace," said I.
"Really?" the captain said, walking over to me. As he walked, he lost his balance and slammed his shoulder into the wall. But when he did that, he actually pressed a button that opened the fireplace.
"Captain, you're amazing!" said I.
"I am? I mean, of course I am, I'm the captain," the captain said, straightening himself.
When we stepped through the opening, we found that there was a staircase. And boy was it long, but we could see a light at the bottom.
"What do you think is down there?" I asked.
"I don't know. Let's see," said the captain.
When we got to the bottom, it was like we were in an evil fortress, because it had a red and black carpet, lava flowing out of the walls, and a throne, with skulls along the top of it.
"Where are we?" said I.
"It looks like a underground fortress," said the captain.
And right then, we heard something that sent chills up our spines. "What are you doing here?"
"What was that?" said the captain, shaking.
"I don't know, but I don't want to find out," said I. And once again, we heard the voice.
"Get out!"
"Run!" shouted the captain.
We ran as fast as we could, and when I looked back at the throne, a man was sitting in it. The scary thing was was that I could see right through him!
"There's a ghost sitting in that throne," I said, still running.
"A ghost! That just makes things worse!" the captain screamed.
When we got out of the fortress, we closed up the fireplace, and ran out of the chamber. It took us a moment for us to catch our breath.
"Who do you think that was?" said I.
"I don't know, I was so scared I didn't think to look back," the captain replied.
"Well who ever that was, he's not on our side." I said. "Do you think we should tell the king about it?"
"No, the king is hiding something from us, and I think he knows about the fortress, and the ghost."
"Why don't we tell the prince?"
"Now that's an option. Think about this: who is closest with the king?"
"The prince."
"Exactly. So if the king tells the prince, maybe, just maybe, he'll tell us what the king is hiding."
"Brilliant!"
And right after we finished talking, we heard a huge explosion. "What was that?" I asked, trying to keep my balance.
"It came from outside," said the captain.
When we got outside, part of the fortress wall was destroyed.
"Hurry, the Knights of Death are attacking the kingdom," said one of the knights.
"Wait! I think I know how to end this war." I said, stopping the captain. "So here's my idea: You and your men clear a path for me, then I'll go to the Dark Lord's fortress, and then kill him there, is that a good plan?"
"Actually, that might work," said the captain. "But what about his dark power?
"I think I can handle it."
"Just like you did with the dragon," the captain mumbled.
"I heard that!"
Not a moment later we were on our horses, and heading out to fight the Knights of Death.
"Archers, light your arrows and aim for their horses," the captain ordered. "Load the ballistas, and this time, aim for the dragon's head, and clear a path for Sir Weston. Alright men, let's move!"
It didn't take long to clear a path, but the only problem was the dragon.
"Aim for the dragon. Fire!" the captain shouted. At last, they finally took out the dragon. Right as the neast hit the dirt, I went through the opening and went straight for Lord Volkmann's fortress. When I got there, I saw the same throne that was inside the secret underground fortress, but with Lord Volkmann sitting in it.
Lord Volkmann was a tall man, probably seven feet tall, big and muscular, with a muscular, clean shaven face, with thick, dark eyebrows, and black hair.
"Lord Volkmann, this ends now!" said I.
"Really?" he said in a low voice.
"Yes."
"Alright then," the Dark Lord said, pounding his fists together, "do your worst."
So I ran towards him with my sword out and my shield ready. But when I went to swing my sword at him, he blasted me across the room.
"Okay," I said, rising, "that actually hurt."
I ran towards him again, but this time I held up my shield.
"This ends now!" I screamed at him.
Then all I have to say is, goodbye," said he. Just then, he blasted me again, knocking me through the roof, and out of the kingdom.
When I finally woke up, I was stranded on an island.
"No!" I said, looking around me. "The Island of Spirits!"
