Chapter Three

Chloe He thought he made me nervous and he was right. But not in the way he thought. He made me nervous because I knew exactly what he was. What kind of man he was. Crow thought I was some kind of goody two shoes he could corrupt when it couldn’t be further from the truth. He wanted me and by god I wanted him. But I couldn’t … no I wouldn’t. To get involved with him even for one night was a risk I wasn’t willing to take. Not for anyone. I had left that all behind me. But god I wanted to. I had felt his pull from the first moment I had set eyes on him. He was so darkly delicious, and like a beautiful black hole I knew he would swallow me if I got to close. So my only option was to stay away. And I had succeeded until his son had been brought in. His words over the coffee we had shared made me smile to myself. “No chloe.” I muttered it to myself as I put my car into park. Three days had gone by since then and I still thought about his words more than I should. It was a fight every day to not go and check on little Ty. But somehow I had managed. It was a battle though. “We do not lust after dangerous motorcycle club presidents. We know better than that.. we….” Swinging myself out of the car I snapped my mouth shut. I had been talking to myself I realised with a start. People were already throwing glances at me. Half smiles on their faces. It was only because I was tired I told myself. Although exhausted would be a better word to describe how I felt. After back to back night shifts I was starting to feel it deep down in my bones. I needed to sleep. But not until I had run my errands. I had literally no food in my fridge and this was the last chance I would get to go shopping until…. My feet paused on the pavement, as my eyes clocked the gleaming chrome of the Harley Fatboy parked at the curb. Now it wasn’t unusual to see bikes in this town. It was one of the reasons I had chosen here to settle. To hide in plain sight and all that but today it gave me a little thrill to see it. A thrill I should not be feeling. Because I was no interested in Crow at all. Shaking myself I stomped into the nearest shop. Thinking about him was dangerous. And that was the last thing I needed. Grabbing bread from the shelf I hurried forward, my head down . The sooner I picked up the essentials the sooner I could get home to my bed. “The f**k…” The voice was masculine, gritty as I walked straight into a wide back. “Look where the hell you are going lady….” The voice was angry but the hands that closed around my biceps were fairly gentle. “Chloe?” Blinking back my surprise I stared up at his face. Out of all the people I could have walked into it had to be him. The one person I was trying to avoid. Crow. “s**t I’m sorry… I….” His face broke into a grin so wide , dimples I hadn’t known he had appeared in his face. “Did I hurt you?” Mutely I shook my head. “I should have been looking where I was going.” “Believe me love I don’t mind you walking into me.” There was a promise in his voice and I bit back a moan. What would it be like to be f****d by a man like him? Would he be soft and gentle or rough and fast like I needed him to be. “I’ve actually been hoping you would come down and see us.” With a start I realised my hand was on his chest. Right in the centre. He had been hoping I would come and see them? For some reason his words made my heart beat a little quicker. He had hoped…. I shook the thought away. I could not go there with Crow. President of the Iron Riders. I wouldn’t. “I’ve been busy.” It sounded like a lame excuse even to my own ears and his eyes narrowed. “You changed your shifts as well, anyone would think you were trying to avoid me.” Slowly his hand drifted down my arms to encircle my wrists. Now that got my attention. Had he been asking around about me? Why would he do that? “You found out my shifts?” “There’s not much I can’t find out in this town Chloe. Although there seems very little information about you.” I didn’t pull away but I did freeze under his gaze. “You could have just asked me if you wanted to know something.” His chuckle was low. “I maybe would have if you hadn’t been trying your best to avoid me. Do I make you nervous beautiful … do I?” He seemed to relish the thought of it. It excited him. The thought of the chase. There was only one thing wrong with his little fantasy. I wasn’t prey. “No.” He didn’t make me nervous in the way he thought. My voice was tiny though and I could tell it excited him more. “No?” His grip on my wrists tightened and for a second I thought he was going to pull me towards him. I wanted him to pull me towards him. I wanted him to take me right here in the grocery aisle so bad my panties were wet at the very thought of it. “Then why won’t you let me take you out. Huh Chloe?” The back of his thumb brushed over my palm. My sweaty palm. “Because I’m pretty sure you like me, I can see the way your breathing has changed.” His head dipped. “If I touched you now, kissed you? And let my hand play under that f*****g uniform of yours would I find your panties soaked? Would I?” Damn his filthy mouth. “No.” I lied easily. “Of course not I am offended that….” “You can be as offended as you want love it’s the truth and we both know it. So let me take you out tonight?” “I have work.” “Blow it off and come have a drink with me.” Sighing I stepped away. That was enough of the outrageous flirting. My plan was to stay away from Crow not almost come like jelly in his arms in the supermarket. “No Crow… I…. maybe another time.” Or maybe not ever I added silently. It wasn’t worth it for a quick f**k, no matter how gorgeous he was. I had worked too hard at building a new life to let my guard down now. “Saturday night… we are having a party..” “I have a date.” I said the words without thinking and his eyebrows shot down as he scowled. “Someone special?” He didn’t even try to keep the anger out of his voice. “Someone I work with.” He dropped my hands like I had burnt him, his lips curling in disgust. “A doctor I see.” He didn’t see at all but I wasn’t about to fill him in on the fact that I had no interest in the man I was going out with. I had only agreed because I was tired of him asking. If he thought I only dated doctors and professionals, then so be it. It was better that way . “Thanks for the invite though, how is …” I was about to ask how Ty was when his big hand curled around my hip. His fingers almost cruel. And that just turned me on even more. I was so messed up in the head. “You don’t need no p***y ass doctor Chloe and you know it.” Pulling me into his body , his free hand reached between us to cup my mound. “I knew you would be wet.” His voice was a husky whisper in my ear. Heat blazed in my cheeks. “You come find me beautiful when your doctor friend can’t give it to you right.” He winked as he stepped away. “Crow will look after you properly.” All I could do was watch open mouthed as he sauntered away. My eyes lingering a little too long on his ass. He was infuriating. But by god that was the hottest thing to ever happen to me.
