Mom was still in her own world, not paying attention to anyone of us. Acting as nothing is really happening. My father forgot what he was trying to talk about so he kept glaring at me while my brother Jason was scrolling through his phone.
-No phones at the table honey. Said mom.
He then executed her order. After few seconds, he finished his plate and stood up to go to his room. While dad went to his beloved couch in living room where he turned the TV on to watch his favorite comedy show. The dinning table was getting scarier, as soon as I tried to get up. She added:
-Why don’t you stay with me sweetheart?
That smile on her face. She was indeed beautiful. Yet, my body started trembling more than how it was already.
-Do you need something Mom? Imma just put the dishes in the kitchen and leave them there for a while. I ain’t in the mood to wash them now. Is that alright?
-I didn’t tell you to wash them sweety. I know you’re tired. Isn’t it? Her eyes widened and her smile disappeared to leave the place for a creepy face.
-eh… Not really actually, I’m just not in the mood for it now. Wanna go upstairs and draw something maybe.
She then got up, got close to me, and hugged me. My heart was skipping a beat. Her arms were so cozy. Yet, so frozen.
“Did she notice?!” I said to myself.
She held me from my arms again and stared at me in the eyes.
-I love you sweet heart. Do you love me too?
-Of course I do mom.
She smiled as she turned around and headed to the kitchen. Froze next to the sink, with a huge knife in her hand. She was holding into it so tight. As if she had some grudge onto someone whom she deeply wished she could kill…
My mind was running wild at that moment. So I decided to stop every thought.
“She loves you Jade. Mom loves me. She would never hate me”
I went to my room upstairs, and laid on my bed. Silence was spreading around. And my aches started burning again.
“Agh!” I exclaimed. However, at the end, it did not actually hurt as much as how my heart was in pain.
I kept on looking at the roof, thinking about every way I could tell them… Or should I even tell them?...
My bruises started itching a lot, and I remembered that I still did not bandage them. So I went to my desk’s drawer, took out my small first aid sack. I know, normally, a fifteen years old girl should not be having it inside her room. I honestly used to take compresses from our house’s first aid cupboard. However, I was afraid, that one day, someone would notice that they started to get fewer. That was when I made my decision. With all the bruises that I used to have, I planned to economies some money, so no one would get any suspicious.
I was sitting on my chair, with my underwear on; to let all my wounded legs show off. The slightest air coming from the window only made me feel like they were more on fire. I cleaned the wounds with a cotton ball filled with alcohol, putted some ointment one them, and then covered every inch of them. it feels a bit better now… Time for my elbow.
“Ekh! I don’t think I can do it by myself.” I whispered.
I tried reaching my right elbow. After few attempts of binding my injury, I finally nailed it. Suddenly… Someone entered the room…
The door cracked open, and mom stoop at the entrance. She stared at me with her pretty eyes, as fear engaged my whole spirit. She came inside, went over my desk. I could not move a finger. She took a blank paper from next to me, smiled, kissed me on the forehead, and headed out again. When she reached the door, she turned around for a second time and muttered:
-You’re getting what you deserve sweet heart. Her smile was still drawn on her face as she closed the door after her…
What just happened? Did she really just ignore everything again? This was not the first time… It happened before… But she is my mom, she loves me! And I love her even more! She is the only person in this whole earth who does not stop me from pursuing my only dream. She is the only person in this whole galaxy who cares about me a lot. She is the only person in this whole universe who loves me this much. It cannot be that she hates me now!
“NO! IT CANNOT BE POSSIBLE!”
"What have I done to deserve this much ignorance from you mom?!" I yelled inside my head.

Damn it! Why am I remembering this right now?! While everyone in this room is so joyful and happy, I was drowning in my painful past... Back to the present, the lovely present. I should not be getting all those hurtful memories back… Mom is not with me now… She is resting in peace, and I still adore her as much as I have always did…
-Hey Jade! I just called Dr. Derek; he’ll be the one in charge of your medical tests and healing process. If only you two came a bit earlier, you’d get the chance to see him today and make a specific appointment. But… Lucky you… You have such an amazing person like “ME” who would make all this efforts to get "YOU" the exact time when you’ll have to go see him. Plus, Imma go with you, so this grandpa won’t get lost in this big city. Said Mark’s cheerful voice.
-I ain’t in the age of a grandpa. Murmured Arcus.
His speech brought me to the reality again. Finally…
-Okay. I replied.
-Well, it’s still so early now to go sleep. And those two old men would never stop talking neither. Would you like to go on a walk with me? There’s actually a beach near here. We can go there. And it’s already 6pm and some, so there wouldn’t be too many people there. What do you think? Asked Ruby.
-Yeah sure. But…
She did not even let me the chance to finish my sentence, as she added:
-Alright then! Give me two minutes and I’ll be ready!
Her steps started getting farther so fast, as if she was running in a race.
