Breakfast and Eggs

1059 Words
I woke up the next day with swollen eyes from crying myself to sleep. The baby had been moving around and I was in pain and uncomfortable. I took a warm bath to try and relax before going to the kitchen to make breakfast. I was standing over the stove making eggs and bacon when I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist. "Good morning". Hans said as he placed a kiss on my shoulder. I didn't say anything and continued on my task. He took a seat at the table picking up the day's paper which I had fetched earlier. "How are you feeling". He asked and I still didn't answer. "Gracie". He said but I just dished up for him putting his breakfast in front of him with his usual morning coffee. "Do you plan to act like a f*cking b*tch for the remainder of this pregnancy". He said as placed his coffee in front of him. I ignored and decided to go into the living area. "Don't you f*cking walk away when I'm talking". He said following after me. "Or what Hans or you going to go leave me to go f*ck your wife!". I screamed turning around to face him. His face turned red with fury and he grabbed my face harshly bringing me closer to him. "Listen to me. Now I've never hit a woman in my life but you are testing my patience". He growled and I lifted my hand and smacked him across the face. He let me go and I stepped back and hit him again before turning around to go to my bedroom. "I'm sorry I didn't mean that Gracie". He said following after me. I closed the door in his face locking it before throwing myself on my bed sobbing. His loud knock came. "I'm sorry, open the door". He said and I ignored him clutching my belly. The pain was getting worse and I had a sharp pain in my lower back, I was only six months along and it was too soon for the baby to come. "Open the door". He said. "Go to your f*cking wife!". I screamed. "For f*ck sake, you knew I was married when you slept with me". He said and I continued sobbing. I heard the click of the door and figured he used the spare key. He stormed into the room. "I don't have time for your bratty behavior I need to go to work". He said and I jumped out of bed. "You might as well not come back". I said and he chuckled throwing his head back. I held my belly feeling another sharp pain. "You're selfish, you know that?". He said. "I'm not the one who's married and got another woman pregnant Hans". I said. "You not innocent either Grace, I wonder how Henry would feel if he found out his precious fiancee is carrying the baby of a Nazi". He said and I was about to go to attack him when I felt a sharp pain in my belly that made fall to my knees. "Aah". I cried as I fell to the floor, I saw the look of horror on his face as he rushed to my side. "Gracie what's wrong?". He said in a panicked tone as he picked me up, putting me on the bed. "My baby, please my baby". I cried clutching my belly feeling a warm liquid sliding down my leg and a look of fear on Hans. I drifted in and out of consciousness, in my dazy state I could barely make out the figure of Hans pacing up and down the room. Two other men in white coats surrounded me. I didn't what was going on I just wanted my baby to be safe. It was later that day when I fluttered my eyes open taking note that I was still in my bedroom. My hands instinctively went to my belly and I was glad to feel the same swell. "Your baby is still alive". A man in a white coat said and I sighed in relief. "I'm Dr. Kinski and this Dr. Rosberg". He said pointing to the other man. "Sergeant Müller hired us to care for during the remainder of your pregnancy, now I understand that the war is stressful but you need to look after yourself for the sake of your baby". He said as he wrote something in a notepad. "We managed to stop the bleeding and I'm going to put you on bed rest for the remainder of your pregnancy. That means no doing work, no walking around the city you going to have to rest in bed all day". He said. "Is my baby going to be okay?". I asked and he turned to look at his colleague. "If you do as I tell you, your baby is going to be just fine. Number one thing is don't stress yourself out, that's what put you here". He said and I nodded. Hans walked into the room. "You're awake". He said rushing to kiss me. "I'm sorry baby". He whispered as he kissed me again and Dr. Kinski cleared his throat. "Herr Müller we are done for the day, we will come back in two days to check on her". He said and Hans nodded. "Danke (Thank you)". He said to the two men who nodded and left. "You got doctors from Germany?". I asked. "I don't trust the French they might do something to hurt you and the baby to get back at me". He said as he sat on the bed next to me. "I didn't think you held us in high regard". I said and he sighed. "You're carrying my baby, of course, I hold you in high regard". He said kissing my forehead. "I'm sorry for everything I'm an i***t". He said and I laughed lightly. "I love you, Hans". I said finally admitting my feelings towards him. "I love you too Gracie". My heart fluttered as he gave me a heated kiss. "I can't wait till you give birth so I can f*ck the hell out of you". He groaned in my ear and I laughed lightly swatting him on the shoulder as we cuddled in bed. I finally felt that my baby would have a stable family.
