14. A cute Angel

Jace's Point of view.

As I look down at the venue, I see my dream coming true bit by bit. Working with such a big hospital and supplying their medical equipment will bring progress for both us and them. And I couldn't be more happier.

With that happiness I make my speech and was recieved with a huge applause. After Iam done with my speech, I was about to go to Mia again. But on my way I meet some of the guest and they sadly keep on talking to me.

I was not even listening properly if not at all, as I was busy looking at Mia.

By now she is talking with her dad and his crew as he call it.

The people I know among them are Chris, Justin, Dr. John and Dr. Logan. Dr Logan used to work with Chris at the same hospital but now he has his own clinic but nonetheless they remain very close throughout. There are three more people standing there but I don't really know them.

I also don't know what they are talking about but seeing that Mia is laughing heartily from time to time, I guess they are talking about something good or funny.

She look beautiful when she laugh like that, its like her soul lights up.

Actually even just standing there, Mia really stand out a lot, not only because of her difference in outfit but mainly its because Mia is the one standing there.

No one in this huge hall can ever rival the warm smile she have or the bright brown eye full of mischief and chirpiness she posses.

And above all, her reserved yet open personality is something unique only she have. All people she converse with she can make them feel like they have known each other for ages but when look properly she is quite reserved and share nothing with them, yet she can make it seems like she open up everything with them.

When I first know her I was shock by this, I thought we were very close by how we talk and stuff but when I think about it I know nothing about her. I just know her name and her dad and where she work and that's about it.

She just have the tendency to joke around and make fun conversation with everyone for a long time making the other party feel as if they are very close with her but share nothing important, except with her close one.

That make her so charming, she maintain a safe distance from everyone but hardly no one can catch on. What a charming trickster.

Guest: Mr. Black.

Jace : Oh sorry but please excuse me for a moment.

Client: Of course.

Wow for a moment I really forget that I was in conversation with someone there.

Guest: And Mr. Black.

Jace: Yes!

Guest: You have a lovely girlfriend.

Jace(smiling): Thank you.

To that he raised his glass and walk away with a warm smile. I guess I stare at a certain someone for a bit too long.

Whatever, let's just go to Mia.

It's a very rare occasion that you would see her in any of these events.

Saying that she hate attending any kind of formal parties is a huge huge understatement.

Cause according to her ' dressing up, sweet talking, fake laughing, listening to boring talks' are all factors which will kill her, so she would rather stay away from it as much as she can. That's her opinion on parties.

So what Iam saying is, such rare opportunity should not be missed for "sweet talking, fake laughing and listening to boring talk". Rather I should be having fun with her.

With that I get to Mia but just as I was reaching what I hear was not a good conversation I was hoping for them to have.

Dr. Logan (cheerfull) : Mia, as you have grow up now and also so beautifully, what do you say about you being my daughter in law now huh?

When he said that Mia just laugh it off, the nerve of that little angel.

I was waiting for her answer but she was cut off as soon as she start speaking.

Mia: But I..

Dr. Logan: Its just that you have not seen Donne in a long time, he have also grown up quite a bit. What do you say about you guys meeting? I swear you will like him a lot.

I don't think waiting for her answer is a good choice anymore, that oldie is going way too far with his imaginary plan. But once again Mia tried to speak up again but once again was cut off.

Mia: Dr. Logan but I..

Dr Logan: No wait, you can't just answer hastily, you have to think about it first. I watch you grow up as my own daughter, and I would love it if you could become my own daughter. Hmm.

When he said that, Mia just awkwardly stare at him with her mouth closing and opening. I bet she is thinking of a good joke to get out of this awkward situation without anyone involve being left awkward.

When all this is happening, Justin sees me and naturally I thought he would step in and yes he did but definitely not in a way I anticipate.

Justin: Yes Donne must have grow a lot, I have not seen him in a while. Mia and her used to look very well together.

And he even mimic one of those dreamy look as if reminiscing those sweet memories. The nerve of that guy, he will see what hell on earth is very soon.

While Chris look at Justin weirdly and was about to talk but as soon as he start he was cut off again, I guess you will know by now who did? The infamous word cutter Logan.. .....

Chris: But she have..

Dr. Logan: Na uh! Stop, don't start with a but, I hate it. Let's the little one think first and then of course we would respect her choice. (Suddenly serious) But for the record you didn't think of anyone else better than me as her father in law, did you? Don't tell me you go to someonelse before you even give me a chance? After I told you about this from when she was six.

When he said that Chris also froze, and his mouth also open and close with no words coming out. And Mia seems to know about this talk too because she is also in the same state as Chris. Well I guess like father like daughter huh?

Looking at their awkward faces and Justin highly amused one and Logan very hopefully one, I finally decided to step in.

Jace: The word you are looking for is, Iam Mia's boyfriend. Hello again Dr. Logan.

And I forward my hand for a handshake. He look shock for a minute and then look at Chris is disbelieve. But nevertheless shake my hand with a smile on his face.

Dr Logan: Hello again my boy. And Chris, come on man, this is just too unfair. How do my son compete with Mr. Perfection over here?

And he look at me and just shake his head making me laugh.

Jace: You are flattering me.

Dr. Logan:Oh! Don't be humble. I know exactly what you are capable of. And This is exactly what I was afraid of, Mia not going to my family but at someone's better.

Jace: Well the competition is tough when it comes to Mia, so gotta work hard and luckily I turn out to be the lucky one.

Well he told me not to be humble so..

Dr. Logan: Jeez. That does not make me feel any better. But what has happen has happen; so the only thing I can say is treat her right, my boy. That my daughter right there. No harm should come to her. If do, you will face my wrath.

Mia really is surrounded by great people. What a shame that Iam one of them.

Jace: That's a promise I must protect and I will do so.

He gave me a satisfied smile and turn to Mia.

Dr. Logan: Great eye little Mia, your choice never go wrong indeed, even in boyfriend department you got a gem.

Actually I have also known him since I was much younger, so he indeed know me well.

Mia(proud): Humble is not in my dictionary unlike some people so Iam gonna take all the credit. He is my choice, he has to be the best.

And she made a face that literally scream, praise me more. And flip her little baby hair from the back as her hair is put up.

And that action instantly put a smile on my face, it just bring me happiness to look at this little act she do. I can look at them and be happy forever.

Dr. Logan(smiling): (agreeing, agreeing) Of course, of course. Anyway take care of yourself Mia, your dad and I would go mingle with some of our cologues okay?

Mia: Okay, see you soon, uncle Logan. Take care.

With that he pat her head with a warm fatherly smile and walk away.

And soon as they walk away I turn to Justin with a glare. He smile a creepy smile and then start blaberring

Justin: You couples enjoy, single people like me also gotta find someone. So babye!!!!!

And he ran off in full speed.

Mia(boasting): Okay? Weird. Whatever! The point is, you have to treat me right if you want me, see how popular Iam.

And she did her baby hair flips again making me smile but I played along with her anyway.

Jace(fake offended): Haww! Am I not treating you right?

Mia: Its a maybe, maybe not situation. If a better guy comes along, I might just grab it.

And she cutely make a grabbing action with her hand quickly acting like grabbing someone while actually she is just grabbing wind right now .

Jace: Hah! I can't believe this, so if a better girl comes along I have to grab it as well huh? If not I might just end up all alone and heart broken.

And I look at her as if expecting a fine and a great answer. While she look at me with nothing but proudness and says

Mia: Well, I dont need to worry about that do I? Who can ever really beat me.

And she pull up her invisible collar acting smug.

Pfft! How cute.

Jace: I already met someone today, are you sure you should be this confident.

Mia(confident) : Pfft. Iam the only one who can wear black in a" blue outfit society" and feel confident about it. Who are you trying to fool, questioning my confidence?

And she even stand with her hand folded and head up high with eye close. I tell you with her happiness, looking at this little antics is a given.

But I still can't back out yet, this is way too much fun.

Jace: I really did meet someone?

Mia(sarcastic) : Iam also curious who is this lady that can beat me?

As you can see, Iam obviously kidding so I just look around and point at the first girl I saw.

It was the host of the event.

Mia: Hah! And I even help her!!!

The mood quickly changed from smug to 100℅ jealous in a second. This is really fun cause I never really see her jealous, ever. But when on earth does she help that girl?

Jace(confuse): Huh? You know her?

Mia: That's the host right?

Jace: Umm, I guess.

Mia: So the anxious face she was making was not because she have no words to speak but because I was with you?

Okay Iam confuse, what anxious face is she talking about.

Jace: Iam sorry?

Oh wait! I remember, back then when I was hugging her she told me the host had no more words and that I should go quickly.

Mia: Ohhh this is making me angry.

And when I look at Mia, she is literally shooting dagger with her eyes and is glaring at her with all her might. But as much as this is fun for me, the lady host is looking at Mia confusedly and uncomfortably cause she keep glaring at her. I should probably stop this.

Jace: Okay wait wait! I was just kidding, she said nothing to me.

When I said that, her glare got redirected and now she is glaring at me. So I thought she was mad at me for playing with her but boy I was wrong again.

Mia: Are you trying to cover for her? (Pouting) Are you taking her side and not mine?

And when she look at me with that mini glare and mini pout look, I literally just melt. She is looking way too cute for anyone's good.

Jace: Of course not, seriously I was kidding, I have not even start with the joke and look how far you have thought through.

When I said that, she gave me one of her signature cute glare again. Did I mention, she have a baby face and her hair put up make her look a lot younger again. So she basically look like an angry kitten right now making me smile, which make her more mad.

Mia: Hey this is just mean now.

I quickly slide in my hand in her waist, hugging her.

Jace: Iam sorry, I just want to see you jealous for once, cause women you never get jealous.

Mia(pouting): Well now Iam jealous, how does it feel seeing me like this?

And she look at me with a full angry pout now making me smile again and of course I go with the flow and pinch her chick.

Jace: Cute.

She quickly slap my hand away.

Mia: Don't touch my cheeks, it hurt.

As she was rubbing her cheeks, she accidentally make eye contact with the lady host again and literally glare at her again while she look as confuse as ever and quickly left. Poor fellow.

Jace: Mia?

Mia: Hmm?

She doesn't even turn back, too focus at glaring.

Jace: You can stop glaring at her now, she is gone.

Mia(strong denial): Iam not glaring.

Jace: Then how do you explain this stare.

And I turn her face towards me.

Mia: I dont know.

And she look at me with a clueless expression as if expecting something from me. But then quickly change his expression to a glare again.

Jace: Come on, she didn't even do anything. I was just kidding, okay?

Mia: Are you taking her side again?

Jace(chuckling): Why? Are you jealous again?

Mia(pouting): Umm.

And she nod her head up and down.

Okay, she got to control her honesty, she is looking too cute complaining like this.

Jace(laughing): Come on, I have such a cute girl as my girlfriend, why would i even look at other girls? Iam not a fool.

When I say that she suddenly act like she is thinking of something serious and look up at me with a big smile after a minute of thinking

Mia: Well, that is true.

Jace: And you call me narcissist.

And I did a little flick at her nose, which she glare at me and rub the spot herself. She always does that, whenever somebody touch her face she have to rub that spot.

Mia: I learn from you so...

Jace: Well that explain you being good at it.

And I wiggle my brows while she laughs at that. She really look beautiful when she smile.

Mia: See!Narcissist.

Jace: Nope! Master narcissist.

At that she nod along in full agreement, looking cute even doing that. My cute angel, what a shame you didn't meet someone better. But I know me and I am a selfish being, so I won't and can't ever let her go.

When I was thinking all this, I was hardly nudged and suddenly was splashed with something on my arms.

When I look back, actually someone has accidentally bump into me and has splash his drinks on me.

Stranger: Oh My God, Iam so sorry.

While he was apologising, Mia quickly grab the handkerchief from my head which was still there by the way and rub the juices away quickly.

Jace: Its okay! Iam fine.

Stranger: Iam sorry once again.

And I just give him a small smile while he walk away.

Jace: Well I guess, I need the washroom then.

Mia: Go on, meanwhile I'll find something to drink okay?

And she hand me the handkerchief.

Mia: What a shame, we were looking very cute while twinning.

Jace : Right? What a shame.

And that fake seriousness made her laugh which in turn made me laugh.

Mia: Go on, before it left a stain.

Jace: Umm, I'll be back quickly.

With that I find the washroom and Clean and dry the wet area of my coat. Luckily no stain.

With that I was about to go back, but was stop by the scene before me.

Actually I was in the bathroom of a private room used as a green room by some guest. But I guess they didn't seems to notice me and come as well.

Dr.Logan: Come on you can't do this too. She will be heartbroken when she know this, you have to stop him from doing this.

Dr. Logan: Speak up damn it, Iam talking to you!

While even when he is shouting the other person seems to be speechless and just remain mum with his heads down.

Dr. Logan: You know, how much she loves and trust you right. Stop this while its not too late, and stop him as well. All of you will regret ever doing this.

And with that he strom out, leaving me confuse as ever.

While he just whisper, I knew I was gonna regret this before anything even started. How can I not regret it, she is my Mia Pia.

And I see him quickly wipe his tears and go out of the room.

While I just stand there sighing over and over again. Cause as soon as he mention Mia, I knew what they were talking about. Now all my doubts make sense, all the medical records now make sense.

With that one question keep feeling up my head, why? Just why?

Was I not enough that he has to be in it too. I really hope all this is just a bad dream that I will soon wake up from.
