Michael's point of view: I was sitting in my office looking over the reports of the day. More and more rouges had been encroaching into our territory. I was the alpha of the Lunar pack. We controlled and protected miles and miles of land surrounding Lunar castle including the human village by the river. I was struggling as alpha, I'll admit. I lost my father and mother to the war with the witches a couple years back. Their death is what caused the precarious peace we find ourselves in now. As a result of their death I had to step into the alpha role before I was of age and without a Luna by my side. I was 12 at the time. I'm 17 now and old enough to rule by werewolf standards but it’s still only a half rule. I have yet to marry and introduce my Luna to the pack. The Luna and the Alpha are supposed to make decisions for the pack together balancing each other out.  Until I have a Luna I am just doing the best I can on my own. Someone was knocking on the door. "Come in" I said loud enough they could hear through the thick wooden door. Scott, my second in command and beta, poked his head in, "Alpha?" "Yes, what is it?" "There has been another rouge sighting" "Who’s out there?" "Steven and Darren are on patrols right now and handling it." Those were two of my best warriors, I knew they could easily handle one rogue. "How many does that make this week?" "Eight, Alpha...." he hesitated, "That's not all... the Rogue was spotted heading towards Stonebrook, the witches' village." My face turned deadly white. "NO!" I shouted causing Scott to back up, "We can't afford any werewolves crossing into their territory. They won’t know the difference between a rogue and a wolf of the Lunar pack. They will just take it as an attack and launch a war on us again. Our pack is getting stronger again but we aren't ready." Scott nodded, "I know, Alpha. The pack is getting a little restless without a Luna to rule by your side. I know you want to wait till you find your mate but you are 17 now and haven't found her yet. Maybe you should choose one the girls in the pack that hasn't found hers yet." "No Scott, I have told you before, I am waiting for my mate." I understand the pack needs a Luna but I believe the Luna being my mate would make a stronger match and ultimately be better for the pack. It is true that once I meet my mate I may reject her especially if she ends up being one of the rogues plaguing my land. But I had a feeling that wasn't going to be the case. "You don't know if you will ever meet your mate. She could have died during the wars for all you know. Or she could be a human, what then?" Scott carried on. "Human isn't a bad thing. Yes, they are weaker and I would prefer a mate that could fight by my side, but humans have their own advantages. They could help me with strategy giving me their opinion on something that I only saw from a werewolf perspective." Human mates were becoming more and more common these days and while viewed as weaker were widely accepted. That acceptance hadn't been tested with having a human as a packs Luna yet though. I couldn't help but imagine how that would end. But in the end I suppose they would have to get over it. Scott was going to continue arguing with me. But he saw in my face that I was growing weary of this conversation and decided to give up for the time being. "Alright, Alpha, just think about it. The pack does need a Luna and any of the girls would happily become your wife." He turned around closing my office door behind him. I did end up thinking about it. Just probably not in the way he wanted. I was pondering on what he said about my mate being a human. Maybe I should go wander around the human village. The bright side being I might run into my mate. The downside being I could run into a witch, something I would rather avoid. The human village, while under my packs protection, was a neutral ground between werewolves and witches. Both groups frequented the markets there Both as buyers and sellers. A few even chose to work in the village. I heard rumors of a miracle doctor joining the hospital a few years back. Not that it helped my pack any. The doctor would only treat humans and witches. Even if he offered to treat werewolves I doubt anyone from my pack would trust a witch doctor enough to let him treat their wounds. We heal pretty fast anyways and as long as nothing too serious happened we can avoid doctors for the most part.
