Alicia's pov : "Hey wait up, wait for me" I yelled but she kept running "Maya wait for me" I yelled again "Meet me in school" she yelled back "ahish" I sigh frustrated Pardon my manners, my name is Alicia Kings. I'm a second year senior student of Golden High School, Detroit. I am the only daughter of my momma and papa. Some called me a nerd, others said I'm weird. Some went as far as calling me a psychopath. Well I guess it's all hatred. I am not the complete version of beauty but I am beautiful in my own ways. I don't keep friends or rather people don't want me as a friend except Maya. She has been my childhood friend, although she might be crazy sometimes she's still the best. Well enough of the introduction, I need to get to school before 7:30am and it's 20 minutes past 7 already. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. I can't go to school late. If I do, I'm so damn dead. Nobody cares about me. I will definitely get punished severely. I felt a hint of happiness when I sighted the brown gate to my school, just few buildings away "I'm so damn lucky" I quickly fill up the gap between me and the gate. I ran inside panting. I stop to take a deep breathe when the bell rang "Ohhhhhh. What a narrow escape" I chuckled "Hey weirdo, why are you standing there? Do you want to get punished?" One of the seniors yelled and I ran off I can't afford to get punished. I ran to my locker. I quickly opened my bag and brought out the time table. "History" I have history this morning. I opened my locker and brought out my textbook. "It's the psychopath" one of the student said but I ignore I'm used to that. I can't let them spoil my mood. I locked my locker and turned to see the D6s. They are known as Daisy, Diana, Daniela, Delaney, Dylan, Dahlia. Delaney Daniels is the Queen of the D6s and I bet you, you will not want to cross their path. You might be wondering how they met, I know how they met, virtually all the students knows but that's the least of my problems now. "Hi" I said in a whisper holding my books tightly I usually feel nervous any time I see them. I get bullied every time I see them. I waited for a few seconds to see if any of them would speak. But all they do is stare at me. I summoned all the little courage I had in me and walked past them. I dare not turn back to look at them or I end up in trouble. When I got to a place where I couldn't see them, I let out the breath I've been holding. "I did it, Licia you did it. Alicia Kings you f*****g did it" I jumped in happiness. I can't believe I walked past them without getting into trouble. I was still celebrating my victory when I sighted the History teacher. She was just few doors to my class What!! I can't get into trouble. I just can't get into trouble after God just saved me from one. I ran into the class just before she could enter. "Phew!" "It's the psychopath" someone said The class couldn't help but laugh. They laughed so hard that I felt like bursting into tears. But I won't let them make me cry. I walked sullenly to my seat beside Maya. Nobody agreed to sit with me except her "I'm sorry" she murmured and I nodded. The teacher entered. She dropped her books before writing the subject and topic on the board "Good morning class!" Miss Ruby greeted "Good morning ma'am" She went ahead to explain whatever she has in store for us. The time drifted slowly as I went from class to class until finally it was lunch break. "Alicia, we should go to the cafeteria" Maya said and I nodded We went to the cafeteria and found an empty table. Actually that table belongs to me and Maya. Nobody sits there not because of Maya but because of me. I drag the chair a little before sitting down. I really wished I could be like the other students. free, happy and loved. The only time I don't get bullied or insulted is when I'm at home. Nobody visits me at home except Maya "Hey, don't tell me what you are thinking?" Maya's voice echoed in my head "No i'm not" I smiled She held my hand and squeezed it "Licia, I don't like this mood. You know I love you right. And no matter how others bully you I will always stand by you?" She said and I nodded Maya has really been a friend. She tried all her best to stay with me. "It wasn't her fault that I got bullied. It's not her fault that I'm not beautiful" I thought as tears dripped down my eyes "Licia stop. You can't let them see how weak you are, you can't" Maya console me I wish I could be strong but no. The more I try, the more I fail. Maybe I'm a nerd like they say. Maybe I'm a weirdo like they say or maybe a psychopath. I stood up slowly from the chair. "Where are you going?" Maya asked "To the restroom" I answered more in a whisper She watched me walk away. I went to the restroom to clean my face. When I was done I went straight to the class. It's better if I stay alone. I brought out my book and began to write down some words just to keep my mind busy. Few minutes later, the bell rang indicating that lunch break was over. Students began to troop in. Some ignore me while others indirectly bully me. The rest of the day was boring for me. But I guess it's fun for others. All I wanted was just to hear the bell signifying the end of class for that day. It's the last class for the day and I can't help but be eager to go home. "Hey" Maya whispered "What?" "Do you care for chocolate and strawberry cake after school?" She asked and I smiled Who says no to chocolates!! "Of course" I whispered back "Hey weirdo, what are you discussing" the teacher asked "Huh?" "You heard me!!" "I....i....i...i...." I stuttered "You're just a psychopath" he said and the class laughed "Stand up" he yelled "Get out of my class" he said I picked my bag and walked sluggishly to the door. I turned to give the class one last look before walking out. Even if I miss the last class, I definitely will not miss the chocolate and strawberry cake. I left the corridor and decided to wait for Maya in one of the empty classes. I waited patiently until I finally drifted to sleep. The sound of the bell woke me up. I was so tired, I felt like going home but hell no. I can't miss the chocolate cake for anything. I stood up and went in search of Maya. The students were so many. I tried walking past them but they wouldn't let me. I made an attempt again but I didn't succeed. "Maya!!" I yelled when I saw her "Licia" I heard her say "I've been looking for you" she said feigning annoyance "Sorry, I slept off" I whispered She hit me playfully before dragging me out of the school. We boarded a taxi to her mum's pastries shop. Going there made me forget about my problems. I enjoyed every bit of the cake and chocolate. "Licia we should get going, I wouldn't want your mum getting worried" she said and I nodded After dad died, mum has been the only person I have. She gets worried at any slight chance. We went down the street before boarding a taxi home. Home here I come!!! TBC * *
