POV 7: RED

.....

Hmm....

I woke up, and to my amazement the sun was bursting through my curtains.. What time was it?

I steered myself over and checked the time... And had to double take.

10:37am? Wow.

I slept in late.

"Wow" I sat up and stretched feeling completely refreshed, I don't think I've ever slept in this late before.

"That was amazing" My wolf was awake and stretching her back, she rarely slept in general. "What was that smell? it was fantastic"

Hmm?

I sniffed my pillow and could smell a hint of perfume "It could be the girls" I pointed out. I completely forgot she was in here... That was a weird experience.

My wolf purred "Well whatever it was, it did wonders for us"

She wasn't wrong, I actually felt very awake for the first time in forever! just a bit odd if a simple perfume could have this kind of effect. No matter, it was back to reality again.

"Jenson are you awake?" I sent a link over hoping to gather the men a bit earlier for combat training. I knew I had to be prepared for some very hungover lads from the party. I knew Alex would be one of them.

(Flash back)

"So I did it!"

Alex was already on his ninth whiskey and he was sluring his words. I really tried to seem interested... Really I tried.

"I decided then was the day I would give up my desk and replace it with a mini fridge for my room"

I hate this party.

"That's nice" I managed to force a smile, but it soon vanished after he tripped over one of the guests feet and splashed his drink all over his suit. "HEY WATCH IT!"

Oh no.

I grabbed Alex and yanked him behind me fast, I knew this man....

"I'm sorry for his behaviour Alpha Kyle" I hoped to reason with him quickly before things got out of hand.

"Is he sorry though?" He took a step forward pointing his finger straight in Alex's face. Understandably he was enraged.

"Allow me to cover the costs for this suit" I already had my check book out of my purse ready. "And our Omegas will assist in getting you cleaned up with a replacement shirt"

His grey eyes met mine, and we both exchanged a glare. I think he could see my wolf... "Thankyou" He gruffed. I asked the bar staff to escort him to a rest room and handed him a check, he finally walked away...

"What is wrong with you!?" I hissed, Alex was miles away staring at his glass.

"Are you trying to start a rumble?" I pulled him back up by his arm and snatched his drink.

"Hey.."

"NO"

I was not dealing with another one tonight!

"You've had enough"

What was it with people getting absolutely wrecked at these things!? Couldn't people just socialise and only have one drink!?

"Hello commander! How you doing tonight"?

Jenson approached us looking very well dressed with an omega on his arm "How you finding the party?"

I tried to answer but Alex had already swung himself into Jenson causing him to stumble backwards. "Jenson!!" He yelled "how you doing my brother!?"

We both exchanged the exact same look.

"Is he-"

"Oh yes!" I didn't need him to finish sentence. "Well over his limit"

Jensons face dropped "Oh dear..." He looked at his omega and whispered something in her ear, she was giggling like a child.

"Well, looks like an early finish for us then!... Come on buddy, up ya get"!

He picked up Alex and threw him over his shoulder like a ragdoll.

"I'll get him back safe don't cha worry"

I was relieved.

"Thankyou Jenson" I seriously couldn't thank him enough. But he just laughed.

"Not a problem, we were heading back to mine anyway if you know what I mean" He gave me a wink and wrapped the Omega in his spare arm. They all disappeared through the fire exit.

(Now)

And I had basically left straight after that incident, and hoped I could forget what he meant... Was a good evening otherwise. On the decorative side of things..

Jenson suddenly got back to me, sounding oddly concerned.

"Sorry Commander, I believe the Luna wants to see you first"

I see...

"Do you know what she wants?" I hoped the sooner I knew the quicker I could continue the day.

"No idea, all I know is she has training on hold until assistance has arrived for something, she won't say anymore"

Assistance.... Normally indicates something bad has happened...

"I'll check it out" I ended the link and quickly threw on some clothes. It was a rare occurrence for things to need this much assistance in such a short space of time.

I only needed one guess who it involved.

I had made it out of my corridor just in time to see some medics wheeling away a couple of people, an Omega was close by.

"What's going on?" I tried to get a better glimpse of their faces, whoever they were they looked completely stone cold and lifeless. Were they still breathing?

"It's the guests ma'am" the omega explained "I can't say for sure but we believe a poison was mentioned from the Luna just now"

Poison?

I felt a stir in my chest, so potentially a death...

"Where is Luna Saffron?"

She pointed towards the guest stairway. "She's still in the room ma'am"

I went straight through the door and bolted up the stairs.

Who in their right mind would just carry poison around with them?

"Hello?" The Luna literally popped her head out of the guest room on the first call "Oh there you are! come quick"

"What's happened?" I arrived outside the door and was met by the Zeke and Charlotte pacing the bedroom. The girl was sat on the bed still dressed up.

Did she literally just wake up like that?

"Red we have an issue we need to discuss" The Luna sat me down on the bed next to Sky. I could see the distress in her eyes.

"Alpha Zeke?" The Luna raised her hand for Zeke to begin, but he was too busy chewing his nails.. "What?... Oh yes..."

Charlotte was facing away from us. She couldn't even face us.

What was going on?

"Well you see" He began "Me and my wife left our duties as an Alpha and Luna to take on a different purpose of discovering ancient treasures... Mainly based on my ancestry or unearthing new finds along the way.

He picked up a large crystal looking bottle that looked empty.

"This was a Detolias speckle" His words were dry "A paralysis poison created only by the purple apples of an elmpelt tree. We trecked seven days to find this treasure in the mountains, and it took another twenty four hours just to create the mixture"

He looked at his daughter, who instantly returned his gaze with guilt.

My guess was right all along...

"And my careless daughter happened upon it and decided to give it to her friends" His lip was quivering slightly "Which means they have been put into a very powerful coma like state, strong enough... That they may never awake again"

"And it cannot be cured with normal medicine" The Luna continued "Our healing isn't enough to wear off the paralysis either"

We all stayed silent for a while. I was trying to process everything that had happened. And why I needed to know.

"So if they can't be cured then what can be done?" I asked, Zeke met my question.

"The only thing we can do is to create an Elixir, but it isn't something you can just whip up sadly"

"What would we need? Maybe our palace wizard has something?"

Bane has been all around the globe looking for certain materials to create new potions. I can't think of one thing he hasn't seen before.

"Bane isn't familiar either" The Luna linked me in silence "But I do know where we can obtain this particular ingredient"

"Why are we linking?" I asked, she ignored my question.

"The main ingredient needed for this particular kind of elixir is hidden within the resting grounds of the previous Thornmoor"

I felt my eyes widen "Are you suggesting what I think you are?"

Please tell me she wasn't...

The Thornmoor resting grounds resides in a cave far up in northern Scotland, no mortal or wolf can just enter... It's practically impossible to enter unless you're Thornmoor. And traditionaly we dare not enter until our predecessor has passed on, there is no reason to just go in. It's disrespect otherwise!

But judging by her nod... I could sense I had a purpose in all of this.

"I have no choice but to send you there" I could see the hurt in her eyes as she said that.

"But what about tradition? I'm forbidden to enter until your time passes!?" I tried to protest, there had to be another way.

But she simply bowed her head. "These are two wolves who could potentially lose their lives... And it is my duty to ensure all lives in my pack grounds are managed and cared for... No matter what the circumstances are"

The link ended, and suddenly, I was furious..... I'm risking myself to save some careless prisoners lives?... And this is worth breaking traditions for WHY!?

"Alpha Zeke we have come to an agreement" The Luna stated, I had to try hide my feelings somehow.. "I have issued Red to take a trip to find the shrew berry that is required"

Zeke and Charlotte both looked stunned. "But the berry isn't something you can just find Luna!" He pulled out a quick image on his phone "In fact study has shown it could potentially be extinct already"

"In this case Alpha, I am happy to inform you that I do know a location" She quickly looked at me "But I can only place it in the trust of my heir, which is why I will send her to collect it"

I sensed the entitled brat staring at me and could feel my frustration beginning to rise to the surface.This was all because of her....

I clenched my fists.

"Thankyou Red!" The Alpha bowed, I didn't return his kindness.

"But it will mean the young men will have to be monitored for the next five days until she returns" Luna Saffron was already linking to the hospital as she spoke "And hope it doesn't have any worsening effects?"

"I can confirm they will simply remain paralysed, no effects exist so far with the most recent studies" Zeke was scrolling through his phone rapidly "And the rest of the ingredients are traceable within a ten mile radius so we will gladly pick those up"

"And I can create the elixir for when you return" Charlotte finished.

I absolutely loved how I didn't get a single say in any of this... Am I really that easy to sway?

"But I do have a request your majesty" Zeke locked eyes with his daughter and stared "As a lesson for her lack of self awareness, I ask my daughter to also encounter the journey to the location"

No..

I pinned my eyesight straight on Saffron and refused to let go "Don't allow this Luna! You know it's not right!"

Razor was already stirring from this last minute decision and I was not having a reckless prisoner following me around an sacred ancestral burial ground reeking havoc!

"Dad no! What?" The girl was sobbing again. I definitely agreed with her.

"With all due respect this is definitely something I can do quicker by myself" I tried to assure them. And I think they started to agree with me.

"Your daughter can go too"
