POV 9: SKY

"Sky are you ready yet!? You're going to be late"!

Wow.

I was still sat on the bed when he decided shout at me... Am I ready?

.....

Gee dad let me think real quick...

I arrived with nothing, I settled in with nothing and I'm leaving with nothing.. So if you really have to ask YES I AM READY!!!

Good grief father!!

I slugged my way down the stairs with my phone and charger... As I didn't have anything else to take with me, and I wasn't taking the dress... This was all I could make do with. For five days...

Five, long, days.... Just me and her...

If I wasn't already unhappy before, I'm certainly not happy now.

It didn't help either that I would need to do a brief shop, but I needed to know how I was going to convince my favourite travel buddy to make a pit stop with me-

"SHE'S OUR MATE YOU i***t! OUR MATE!"

Aaaaaand just like that my wolf came back to me.

"She is not our mate!" I snapped back harshly, I was nearly at the door "I don't know what happened last night but I clearly did something wrong with my rejection..."

"We only get one mate in our life time and you want to throw it away!?" She was not going to let this go. I get this is a big deal for her but I don't think she realises how big it was to me too.

"Sky!?"

"Oh For goodness sake I'M HERE"!!!!

I cut the link off and swung the main doors open with a bang. My dad was already waiting by a black range rover with the Luna and my mother.

He did not look impressed.

"I said are you ready?" He had a rucksack in his hand which I presumed was for me, but his demiener made me feel a little bit uneasy in his presence..

"Yes I'm ready" I grumbled. I took Emerald straight out of my mind and proceeded forward towards my punishment. Everything was about to end for me right here right now....

"How was I going to last this long?"

5 days was a really long time.

I was already leaving Jason and Max alone, and they were staying here until I came back with an ingredient... But I needed them more than ever. And what if we failed?

"I can assure you everything will be okay" The Luna smiled, she genuinely seemed really sympathetic which actually made me feel a bit better. I smiled back.

And then I clocked on.

... Did she just read my mind? I never said that out loud.

"You have my word they will both receive the best care while you're away"

Yeah, even my parents looked confused right now. How on earth was she doing that?

"Thankyou" I mumbled, I decided it was best to silence my thoughts for now...

"Here you go, this should tie you over for a week" My dad handed over the rucksack. It felt kinda heavy.

I had a quick peep inside, It contained some clothes, a brush, toothbrush, soap and a credit card. The essentials for the world's shittest holiday to come.

"Is Red on her way yet? I thought you two would have left by now" My mum finally spoke up for the first time whilst showing off her new grey and black dress she ordered this morning. I didn't want to think how much that must have cost the pack...

"No word yet, but I'll keep trying to link her... She isn't usually one to be late like this"

Well that's definitely professional.

Wait what was I saying... She's not here! Brilliant!

I suddenly felt hope again. She's not answering. Did she run away? Has she gone in protest?

Please say she ran away-

"She's close.."

Nevermind... Worth a shot.

The Luna was mind linking as she was speaking, it was actually amazing to watch her eyes change to cloudy as she focused on her thoughts. Was literally like watching the northern lights.

But her expression suddenly changed... And her gaze fell onto me. Oh s**t, did I slip up with my thoughts aga-

"AHH!!"

BANG!

Shit!!

A body of a small man flew straight in front of us into the gravel, I s**t myself seven times over and more!

"WHAT THE FU-?"

THUMP!!!

SMACK!!!!

Red threw her heel straight into this man's head forcing him to bow on the floor, he was literally a bloody mess from the face down!

"Guess who I discovered patroling around our farm fields?" she grabbed his hair and forced him to look up, I was mortified by his pure black eye sockets!

Did she do that to him!?!?

"State your business" The Luna commanded, she was completely cold as she stared down at this man crippled before us. I was looking around desperately, relieved to see my parents were just as horrified as I was...

SMACK!

"AHHHHHH!"

The man howled in agony as Red threw her claws straight across the back of his head! The impact actually shredded his skin to the point it was hanging off his head like hair strands.

My stomach felt so uneasy....

"Answer the question"

"PLEASE STOP!!"

He cried like a babbling mess on the floor, I could literally see his tears mixing in with his bloodied face!

"What do we do? should we do something" I linked my dad who just gave me a silent stare in return. We couldn't get involved...

"Please stop" He begged again, his eyes tried to open as he looked up at the Luna "I was just passing through... I got lost and was just passing through, I forgot where I was supposed to go"

I felt bad. This poor guy was stumbling on his words.

"Is that so?"

CRUNCH!!!

Red bashed the back of his head straight into the ground, his left cheek cracked from the force of her strength.

"I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG! I DIDN'T!"

The Luna stared down, and she didn't look impressed. I could tell she was linking Red as he sobbed away to himself on the floor.

"It's a mistake, a big mistake... Please? I just want to go now"

The Luna had finally made a decision.. She nelt down and levelled with his face.

"Perhaps we need to talk a bit further into this before we release you..." She growled "After all, that is quite a bit of wolfsbane your carrying there isn't it?"

Wait?... Wolfsbane!?

With a simple nod, Red hauled him away screaming in terror, his blood practically followed him straight through the doors and into the palace!

"PLEASE NO!!!! HELP!!!! I CAN EXPLAIN!!!"

"LET ME EXPLAIN PLEASE!!!"

His voice cut out, he was no longer in veiw of us or in ear shot... That brutality was something I will never scrape from my mind even if I tried..

"I do apologise that you had to witness this" Luna Saffron turned her attention back to us looking quite somber. This woman was utterly terrifying...

"We don't tend to get many intruders, but the ones we do get we have to make sure are not a threat to any of the pack members what so ever"

"I see" My dad murmered I could see he was still slightly shaken up just like I was. My mum looked even worse!

"But how did you know he had wolfsbane?" I asked, I probably shouldn't have but I didn't know what else to do at this point. May aswell understand what just happened after all.

"It comes as a scent to us, much like the scent of blood, only with higher levels of iron in it" The Luna explained, I couldn't lie I was completely fascinated by their abilities and gifts. They were definitely much cooler than ours!

"Also his intentions are unclear, considering Red appears to have a wound on her side from this wolfsba-"

I let out a low growl that rumbled around us... Everyone fell silent.

For god sake Emerald seriously!?!?!?

"What was that?" My Parents looked pretty surprised. I wasn't surprised. I was annoyed...

Why now!?

"Umm"

"She's okay" The Luna continued on "I will have the Alpha down shortly to squeeze out any information possible. But it is clear he has a different motive to the one he tried to tell us"

Indeed.

Red reappeared holding her waist where there appeared to be a tear in her shirt. There was blood...

"Emerald!" I was fighting against her coming to the surface, she was seriously pushing her weight to try and fend for her! "Stop it! NO"

"Is it deep?" the Luna asked, Red just shook her head, waving her black side fringe across her face.

"No it's not too deep, I just need a second..."

She held her waist and removed her hand after a few seconds to show her wound was completely scarred over... Wait a minute..

"He's not speaking but Jenson is already down there at work with him" she stated.

And at the same time I was busy still gawking at her like an i***t, I couldn't believe my eyes.

Did she just heal herself?

How did she just heal herself???

"Thankyou, I presume that means you are ready now?"

The Luna held out the car keys within reach of Reds hand, she looked very hesitant to take them..

"I've also packed your bag for you and supplied you with the necessary equipment" The Luna continued. Red nodded, but still didn't take the keys. She was protesting........

The atmosphere just got very tense.

"Are you sure this is how it should be my Luna?" Reds voice was sharp, and her uncertainty was leaking through. I almost felt insulted.

"Yes, this is how it should be" The Luna finalised. By the way she was speaking I knew she was not changing her mind "It's for the sake of two boys"

"What about Jason and Max?" I blurted without even thinking! Everyone now staring at me.

Oh great.

"They are currently seeking twenty four hour care within our care unit" Luna Saffron replied "You have my word they will be under the best care in your absence"

A part of me seriously wanted to make up for my f**k up, but another part of me was hoping I could stay behind and care for them myself whilst Red was away..

My dad just scoffed at me "Bit late to express that kind of concern now surely?"

Okay, his attitude and judgement were really starting to chip away at my respect for him...

"And I really have to go?"

The last thing I wanted was to get in that car and endure the trip with the one person I didn't want to be around if they could potentially wake up.

"Your friends need you to go Sky" My mum came over and hugged me tight, her perfume was literally so strong it burnt my nose!

"We all need you to go..."

She pulled away tenderly and returned next to my dad, who was also expressing the same look she had. There was no escaping this.

We were going.

"So are we off then or not?" Red muttered, she had already buckled herself into the driver's seat ready to go.

It was my turn now..

"And remember" Luna Saffron came to the side window looking quite worried "Be careful, and please be cautious, nobody is to follow you in. Understand"?

It took a few minutes, but Red finally nodded in agreement "Understood"

I was definitely intrigued about this super secret base now.

I waved to my parents as Red put the car into drive, we begun to do drift away down the path... And as science has it, they began to get smaller. We were now on the road and heading off. No turning back, and no changing their mind.
