Love:is the past
Myra had tears rolling down her cheeks as she signed the divorce papers. She was thinking, 'How did I end up here? What did I do to deserve this?' She thought about the times she fought with her family when they warned her about Jake, telling her he wasn't good enough for her. She remembered how she broke their hearts when she secretly married Jake without telling them, and how she hurt them when they found out. She never expected the man she loved with all her heart and soul, her best friend, to hurt her to the breaking point. Myra and Jake had been dating for 5 years before finally getting married and telling their families. The once blossoming relationship soon started to deteriorate. Jake would get irritated with Myra, and his mother interfered too much in their marriage, creating misunderstandings. He would always take his mother Margrets side. Myra worked hard to support and save while Jake would spend his money on his friends. Myra had to work harder to support them. She borrowed money from her parents to pay bills, while Jake did not care at all. He and his family were squeezing every penny out of Myra and her family until the point she could not take it anymore. He started physically abusing her, slapped her in front of her friend when Myra declined to hand over her credit cards to Jake. Myra felt she was slipping into depression and would cry every night. One day she gathered the courage to leave him. He tried to hurt her again, hitting her, and she screamed as loud as she could until he left her alone, scared that the neighbors might show up. Myra took advantage of that moment and ran out of the house, took a cab, and went to her parents, telling them everything. Jake, on the other hand, told his family and spread the word to everyone they knew that she was cheating on him and was sleeping with other men, and he had left her. Myra locked herself up in her old room at her parents' house feeling so guilty and ashamed that this happened to her. She cried every day and every night. Soon she found out she was pregnant and contacted one of Jake's friends, Robby, who asked her not to contact Jake. Myra also reached out to Jake's family, but they declined to speak to her and informed her that Jake had filed for a divorce. They advised her to sign the papers, mentioning she would receive nothing from him. The next day Myra signed and returned the papers. When she was three months pregnant, the divorce was finalized. Myra then learned that Jake was engaged to a wealthy woman named Kathy, who happened to be the only child of a wealthy businessman; he was helping Jake establish his business. After 2 months, news came that Jake was married. After a few months, Myra gave birth to a beautiful daughter and named her Emma. Myra worked hard day and night, working overtime every day to give Emma the best life she deserved. Myra's parents were always there to help her. Myra saved every penny she could and invested the money for Emma's future. A year later, Myra found out that Jake's new wife was pregnant and had given birth to a son. Jake was proud of being a father and had been telling people that Myra was incapable of having a child. Myra ignored everything as she just wanted her daughter to be safe from a greedy father like Jake and to protect her. Myra was a great mother, managing work and loving spending time with Emma. They were inseparable, and every minute she could spare, she loved to spend it with Emma. At times when she was lonely in her room, she would just hide her face in her hands and cry. She felt alone, and she did not expect life to take such a turn. Myra longed to have a friend or someone who understood her and she could talk to. Someone she could share her true emotions with and what she is going through as she was getting tired of the brave mask she had to put on in front of everyone.
