Unexpected love from her

Chapter 2 (Getting to know each other)

It was almost 2 a.m but Hannah didn’t text me back. I was worried about her. I know that she’s older than me, but Hannah is not that strong enough. She easily got hurt even in simple physical activity in her P.E class. I am always worried every time she’s out late without texting me. I tried to call her.

“Hey, where are you? Are you at home now?” I asked.

“Oh no! I am at my friend's house. We stayed there early after the party. I will let you know when I’m home. Don’t get jealous Gin.” She teased me.

She stayed at her friend’s house after the party. I know she’s with Alexa. I texted Alexa if she’s with Hannah. Alexa told me that she would take care of Hannah for me. She also knew that this was Hannah’s first time staying up late at her friend’s house. Hannah usually stayed up late in our house or at Alexa’s house. But this time it’s different. I will not disturb her. I know she’s having fun with her friends.

“I am just worried, Hann. Promise me that you will call or text me once you arrive home. Okay?”

“Yes ma’am!” she said.

I went to sleep after, since I was very tired from my practice. I woke up at 10 a.m, then I immediately checked my phone. I received a text from her saying that she had already arrived home and she needed to tell me something interesting. I wonder what happened last night and why she got excited about telling me something. Maybe she has got a new friend? I hope it’s not a guy. Since I knew her, I haven’t seen her spending time with a guy except if it was for academic competition. She always spends time with me or with Alexa.

I want to call her at that time to talk about the party but I don’t want to disturb her since she’s tired and she sleeps late. Because it is Sunday, I spend my time reading books while relaxing my body. My body is having body pain because of the training. I didn’t realize that I slept while reading books. My brother woke me up for dinner. I checked my phone but there was no text from her. I still didn’t disturb her. I give her time to rest. Maybe she’s still tired from last night's event. I went to bed early because I have an early class for tomorrow.

The next day, I saw Hannah.

“Hannah!!” she turned around and I asked her

“How was the party the other night? Who’s the not-so-lucky guy?” I teased her.

“I met this guy from the other class. He’s nice to me. I just met him that night but she knew me well. Not so weird, right?” she’s laughing while she told me about that guy.

“You’re popular now? Amazing!” while I am laughing at her also.

“You know what, I think I like this guy. He is the son of a business owner of digital marketing here in Singapore.”

“You like him? Wow! That’s so fast huh!” I replied to her.

It sounds like Hannah likes this new guy that she met from her prom the other night. She keeps on talking about the guy. She didn’t even ask me what happened or how my day was going without her. I started to get jealous, but I didn’t mind it at first. I am going to ask Alexa what happened last night. My best friend changed in just one night after she met this guy. She keeps on mentioning that guy every time we spend time.

“Sounds like you don’t like it, don’t tell me you’re jealous?” And then she teased me again.

“Me? Jealous? Of course not. I am just saying that it’s too fast. You need to know him before you like him.” I replied.

Yeah, I am starting to get jealous because she keeps on mentioning his name. I didn’t even remember his name because I was avoiding it. I started to feel irritated but I didn’t do it. I just let her express her emotions and tell me what happened that night. It seems that she’s happy. That’s what matters to me. Her happiness.

“I mean. I like him since he looks cool. He is nice to me. That’s it”

“Oh, you should be careful that HE IS NICE TO ME. I am also nice to you. Why don’t you like me?” I jokingly replied to her.

“HAHAHAHA are you out of your mind? That’s impossible. I like you because you are my best friend”, she said.

“Ouch! “

From that day. I realized that I felt something about Hannah. My feelings for her are different. I feel uneasy if she’s with other boys. Hannah is somewhat well known in our school since she’s active when it comes to academic activities. I always saw Hannah and the guy that she keeps on mentioning. They are spending time at the library. Hannah told me that the guy that she met from the prom is also excellent when it comes to the academic field. While I am active in sports, I have excellent grades when it comes to academics. The only difference is I am not into academic activities, unlike Hannah.

I went to the library to look for Hannah, then I saw her and this guy, who I can’t even remember his name. I sat beside them. I asked Hannah

“I’m hungry, let’s eat?” I invited her to eat with me outside.

“Maybe next time. There is this project that we are working on for the upcoming thesis paper for graduating students. We are a partner for this one. Can we do it next time?”

“Yeah, sure! Anytime. Just tell me when you’re free, okay?”

“Yes!” She replied immediately.

I went out. I went to our favorite fast food restaurant. We mostly spend our free time in this place. Now, I am eating alone. It feels empty when she’s not around me. It feels like my day will not be complete without her. I went to the counter to order some food. I wanted to bring her food so that she didn’t get hungry, but I received something not pleasant to my ears.

“Can I have a Double Cheeseburger with fries? No drinks please.” I ordered from the cashier

“Are you alone this time?” the lady from the counter asked me.

“Yes, my friend is busy for now,” I replied.

“Oh, I see, I saw her earlier with this guy. They ordered the same as you but they ordered 2 large soft drinks.” She told me.

“She ordered large soft drinks? I didn’t know she could drink large soft drinks”, I told the lady.

I know Hannah can’t even finish a regular size of soft drink. I am not a fan of soft drinks either. That’s why I always order without soft drinks. I didn’t expect that she'd be going to drink soft drinks now, and it is large soft drinks. Why did she change immediately in one night? This guy is a bad influence on her.

“Yeah, she ordered 2 large soft drinks. Then that guy paid for their meal.”

I smiled at the lady and said,

“GREAT!” I went to the table and waited for the order.
