Kelvin’s heart hammered in his chest like a war drum, as he stood frozen on the edge of Diana’s property.
He wanted nothing more than to turn and run far, far away, before Kael got the chance to spot him.
But the demon’s sharp eyes had already caught his silhouette, and there was no escaping now.
Kael’s cold, piercing gaze cut through the darkness, unwavering and merciless.
The moon cast eerie shadows across his sharp features, making him look even more terrifying. His presence was like a cold shadow settling over the yard.
Summoning every shred of courage he had, Kelvin stepped forward, his footsteps barely making a sound on the dew-wet grass.
“Hey, big bro. Out late too?” Kelvin said, wrapping Kael in a stiff, forced hug.
