Chapter 18

LEXI'S P.O.V ‎The alarm rang, waking me up from my peaceful slumber. Ahh... I can't wait for the holidays. ‎I quickly took a shower and went to the walk-in-closet. ‎'What to wear?' I thought to myself as I searched my wardrobe. ‎I saw a short sunflower dress that reached my knee and I partnered it with criss-cross sandals. ‎I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled. ‎ I headed downstairs for breakfast. ‎My mum was in the kitchen as usual, making some pancakes. ‎ ‎"Good morning, Mum." I greeted her with a smile, before pecking her cheek. ‎ ‎"Good morning, dearie. How was your night?" she pecked my forehead. ‎ ‎"It was fine, Mum. I hope you slept well too." ‎ ‎"She didn't let me sleep last night." My dad said, walking into the kitchen. ‎ ‎My mum's face turned red and she slapped my dad's arm. ‎ ‎"Ewww! I'm not interested in your nightly activities." I covered my ears, leaving both of them in the kitchen. ‎ ‎I met Logan sitting on the couch in the sitting room, as usual on his phone. I plopped on the space beside him, startling him. ‎ ‎"What'cha doing?" I asked, trying to peer into the phone. ‎ ‎"Geez... Lexi, you almost gave me a heart attack." he put his hand on his chest, glaring at me. ‎ ‎I rolled my eyes. "Don't be so dramatic, Logan." ‎ ‎He was about to contradict but Mum called us for breakfast, so we headed to the dining table. ‎After eating, Logan drove me to school. ‎ ‎Once we neared the school, I felt a churn in my stomach. I remembered how Blake ignored me yesterday and I didn't know how to react if I see him this morning. ‎ ‎Logan noticed and quickly held my hand. ‎ ‎"Are you okay? Is something wrong, Lexi?" he asked in a panic, looking at me. ‎ ‎"I'm fine. No need to worry. I'll be okay." I squeezed his hand a bit to reassure him and got out of the car, before he could say anything else. ‎ ‎He got out of the car too and held my shoulders, studying me. ‎ ‎"Are you sure you're okay, Lexi? You can skip school if you're feeling uneasy. You don't have to stress yourself." ‎ ‎I smiled, rolling my eyes. "I'm fine Logan, really. It's just some nerves but as soon as I see Laurey and Dylan I'll be fine." ‎ ‎I saw a flicker in his eyes when I mentioned Laurey but it disappeared as soon as it came. ‎ ‎"Yahh! What was that? Why did your expression change when I mentioned Laurey?" I pointed an accusing finger at him. ‎ ‎He removed his hands from my shoulders and put them in his pockets. "Mbo? I don't know what you're talking about." ‎ ‎I smirked. "Acting dumb, heh. I'll catch you soon enough." ‎ ‎He fake-coughed and cleared his throat. "Just be safe, okay? And if anything happens.." ‎ ‎"Call big brother and he will take care of it." I said with a smile, having memorized the sentence. ‎ ‎He grinned and hugged me, before pecking my forehead and ruffling my hair. ‎ ‎"Logan!!! What is wrong with you?" I screamed, trying to arrange my hair while he ran to the car. ‎ ‎I glared at him, before walking to the school gates. Logan watched me enter before he zoomed off and I headed to my locker. ‎ ‎*** ‎I saw neither Dylan nor Laurey when I came, so I assumed they didn't come today. ‎ ‎What a bummer! ‎ ‎Today's gonna be so boring without them and to top it off no sign of Blake either. So, here I am during lunch break at the library reading a book. ‎ ‎It's called, Dark Obsession. It's really interesting, I'm in Chapter 7 now. I think I'm gonna ask for permission to take it home and read. ‎ ‎"I didn't know you were a book lover." I heard a voice I know all too well. ‎ ‎I looked in front of me and there he was: ‎Blake was sitting on a chair in front of me with his legs crossed on the table like he owns the place. ‎ I just kept staring at him, not knowing what to say. Act like a rational human being, Lexi! ‎I cleared my throat. "I am kind of a nerd, only when it comes to romance novels." ‎ ‎He chuckled. "Yeah. I can see that. You didn't even notice when I sat down." ‎ ‎I smiled sheepishly, scratching my head. ‎ ‎"So, how's your boyfriend doing?" Is it just me or is there a hint of jealousy in his tone? ‎ ‎Wait, hold up... Boyfriend? Which boyfriend? ‎ ‎"What are you talking about? I don't have a boyfriend." I chuckled awkwardly. ‎ ‎"Really? Then who was the guy I saw you hugging the other day in the parking lot?" ‎ What?? Is he stalking me? ‎"Mbo?? Oh... That's my brother, Logan." I replied with a smile. ‎ ‎"Your brother?" he asked in shock, his eyes widening. ‎ ‎"Yeah. Why do you find it so hard to believe?" ‎ He stared at me for a moment like he was trying to process everything I just said. Then he ran his hand through his hair and let out a short laugh, shaking his head. "So all this time..." he muttered, more to himself than to me. ‎ His chuckle grew louder until it turned to full-on laughter. He stood up from his chair and pulled me into a tight hug, still laughing. ‎ ‎Okay... What is going on? Has he gone mad? ‎ ‎I awkwardly hugged him back, patting his shoulder. ‎ ‎"Gosh... I'm so stupid." he muttered in-between laughs. ‎ ‎He finally disentangled from the hug and looked at me with a smile. ‎ ‎He reached out his hand and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. ‎ ‎"Thank God he's not your boyfriend." he said in a low tone, looking at me intensely. ‎ ‎"Don't-don't look at me like that." I pleaded, averting my gaze from him. ‎ ‎"Why?" he asked, moving his face closer to mine. ‎ ‎"It's-it's making me feel nervous." I stuttered once I realized how close we were. ‎ ‎Get a grip on yourself, fool. ‎ ‎He chuckled, his minty breath fanning my face. "You don't need to be nervous..." He paused briefly, like he was choosing his words carefully. "...baby." ‎ ‎"Baby? Since when did you start calling me that?" I asked, flustered. ‎ ‎"Since now. You don't like it?" ‎ ‎"No, no. Of course not. I love it." I responded in a hurry, before he thought I didn't like it. ‎ Who in their right mind would object to being called baby? ‎ ‎"Woww! You were in such a hurry to respond. I didn't know you like the thought of me calling you baby. Don't worry I'll be calling you that from now on." ‎ ‎I blushed, using my hands to cover my face. ‎ ‎He removed my hands from my face and smiled. The next thing I know, he inched closer to my face and kissed my forehead. ‎ ‎I was too stunned to speak and kept staring at him in shock. The bell rang, interrupting our staring session. I quickly grabbed my bag and ran out of the library, leaving the book I was reading behind. ‎ ‎~~~ ‎Sometimes, what you think you saw isn't the truth... and by the time you realize it, it's almost too late🌹😭🩸
