LEXI'S P.O.V
The school was packed as usual with students in their own separate cliques or corners gossiping and laughing. I was walking with Laurey and Dylan to my locker.
I reached my locker taking out the books I will need for today's lessons.
"Have you seen Blake today?" I asked out of the blue.
"Why? Are you missing him?" Dylan asked with a smirk.
"I-I'm not... I'm just curious." I replied, putting my face inside my locker to cover the tint of blush on my cheeks.
"I know you're blushing, Lexi." It was Laurey who spoke up this time.
I ignored her trying to keep my emotions in check. I slammed my locker and walked ahead going to my class.
"You ignored my question, Lexi." Laurey shouted from behind me.
I just rolled my eyes, even though I was fighting back my smile.
They caught up to me and we walked to class together.
We stepped into class and sat down at our usual spot: the back row.
The teacher walked into the class and the lecture began. Two minutes into the lecture, Blake walked in; looking stunning as usual.
I quickly straightened my sitting posture and combed my hair with my fingers.
"Gurl, calm down. It's not the end of the world." Dylan smirked, watching me fiddling with my fingers, while Laurey laughed. I just glared at them.
The teacher scolded him for coming late and instructed him to sit down.
Our eyes met and he smiled at me before walking towards me and taking the empty seat beside me.
"Hey." he whispered.
"Hi." I whispered back, smiling.
He patted my hair and faced the board, listening to the teacher's lecture.
I smiled, biting my lips.
"Stop being all lovey-dovey." Dylan whispered in my ear.
I elbowed his ribcage, ordering him to shut up, while Laurey snickered beside him.
The class soon came to an end with the teacher giving us assignments. Blake and I didn't talk for the rest of the afternoon because we had different classes.
Time flew by quickly and it was closing time. I was so ready to go home and collapse on my bed. I was heading to the entrance of the school when I heard my name being called.
"Lexi!" I turned back and realized that it was Laurey. She was running towards me with her bag slung loosely over her shoulder.
"Hey! What's up?"
"I'm fine. Where are you going?" she asked, adjusting her bag.
"Home?" I asked in a 'duhh' tone.
"Don't you remember we have cleaning duty today missy?" she asked with a smirk.
I rolled my eyes annoyed. "I totally forgot."
"Yeah... we better get going." she said, grabbing my hand.
"You'll never take me alive." I said, before dashing through the hallway, making my way to the double doors of the school.
I heard her footsteps behind me and she was screaming my name.
"Lexi! Get back here!"
I laughed and continued running, earning strange looks from nearby students but I was too focused on escaping from Laurey to care.
I finally reached the entrance of the school and ran towards the parking lot with Laurey still hot on my tail.
I spotted Logan leaning on the hood of his car. I quickly ran to him for protection.
"Quick! Logan hide me before she comes." I shook his hands frantically.
"What happened? Who's coming?" he asked worriedly.
Just then, Laurey ran up to us and glared at me. She was sweating and panting profusely.
She wanted to talk but words were not coming out, so she bent down to catch her breath.
"You..." she began glaring daggers at me. I hid behind Logan.
"How could you run so fast?"
"What's going on here?" Logan asked in a commanding tone.
He immediately stepped in front of me.
"She-she's trying to run away from her cleaning duties." Laurey said angrily.
"What?" he asked confused.
"We were both given cleaning duties and she's trying to escape leaving only me to do the cleaning." she crossed her arms, looking at me.
"Lexi... is it true?" Logan looked at me, daring me to lie.
"It-it's true."
He rolled his eyes in annoyance, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"But, I'm too tired. I don't wanna clean." I pouted at Logan.
"But you have to. It's not fair." Laurey stomped her foot on the ground childishly.
"I thought you were in real trouble Lexi. I didn't know it was because of some damn cleaning duties." Logan glared at me, annoyed.
"Why will you think that? Laurey can never harm me." I replied coquettishly, moving to Laurey's side and holding her arm.
"You can sugar-coat me all you want. But you're not escaping your cleaning duties missy." she said dryly, looking at me.
She cleared her throat, pouting. "I got really tired chasing after you. I don't want to faint during the cleaning, you know." she sighed dramatically, rubbing her stomach.
I rolled my eyes at her behavior. "I'll buy you food."
"Yayy... you know that's why I love you." she smiled hugging me.
I rolled my eyes and hugged her back. "I think Ms. Cathy will be waiting for us inside." I spoke out.
She groaned, throwing her head back. "Yeah... you're right. I'll wait for you inside. Don't try running away again or else." she narrowed her eyes into slits looking at me.
"I won't. I promise."
She turned to Logan and smiled. "Bye, Logan. See you soon."
Then she skipped away.
I caught Logan looking in the direction of Laurey and his lips lifted up into a half smile. Hmm... what's going on here?
I cleared my throat to get his attention. He quickly looked at me.
"What do you need?" he asked in a bored tone.
"What? Why will you think that? Can't I just talk to my brother?" I asked in an overly sweet tone.
He rolled his eyes, looking bored. "I have places to be Lexi. So, what do you want?"
"Money. A $100 to be precise."
"What do you need a $100 for?" he asked, dumbfounded.
"I need to treat Laurey. Do you know how much that will cost?"
"Whatever. Just don't come back home late, okay?" he brought out his wallet and gave me $200.
"You're the best big bro ever." I hugged him tightly and pecked his cheeks.
He smiled and ruffled my hair before I ran back inside the school.
I watched him from inside the school and made sure he had driven off.
..... Little did Lexi know that someone was watching her...
