Chapter 18Darkness clouded her focus. Something warm and moist clamped down on Isabella’s upper arm. It stung like hell, like someone had closed a bear trap on it. The earth moved under her body, scraping up her torso. Her eyes wouldn’t open. The pain faded as her mind went blank again . . . A silhouette. She was coming to again, and this time her eyes would at least start to open. Enough to see the shadowed outline of a canine. He was pulling her. God, her arm hurt. She winced from the sting, and coughed. The creature stopped and stared down at her. His striking blue eyes seemed to glow in contrast with the rest of his dark body.
