She finally had someone in her court, and just like an i***t she ran away from him. Just left him in that damn water by himself feeling like a rejected toddler.
This cocktail of guilt and regret swirling around in her gut was eating her insides. The burn was unbearable. She had to find something else to focus on.
And she knew exactly where to find it.
“Brayden,” she shouted through the brush.
After about fifteen minutes of wandering around aimlessly, a faint shuffling behind her told her she found her target. She spun around, getting the surprise on him for a change.
“Ha!” Brayden jumped. “You’re getting good. I was trying my best to be quiet. Maybe we’re awakening that beast inside after all.”
