Between Worlds exchange

Chapter Two

Rhea's family took her to the shuttle after packing all her bags. Each student was allowed to bring 5 suitcases and they could bring their phones. The only thing they were not allowed to bring was a creaturae. Rhea was sure some people would sneak one and someone tried. It was quickly confiscated and they were sent into the shuttle. Rhea said goodbye to her family making sure to give everyone a kiss. She then got onto the Shuttle when it was her turn.

Kofi and his family arrived almost to late for him to get on. He had missed his turn but a quick explanation allowed Kofi on the shuttle. He had decided to sit next to Rhea since it was the only open seat. They talked for most of the ride. When the shuttle took off Rhea had gotten spooked and reached over to hold Kofis hand. They were still good friends and he always helped Rhea calm down when needed.

The ride from Lunar to Earth was only a few hours and most of the kids took advantage to talk. By the time they had landed almost everyone of them were new friends. Something the Earth kids would have a hard time doing. Once the shuttle landed the speaker went off.

'Welcome to Earth, Lunars. once the shuttle doors open you may exit. please unfasten your seat belts but do not get up until the doors open.'

The Lunar kids listened and when the door opened they all got up. Each one filled out the door and collected their stuff. It was quite strange stepping out onto Earth. The airport they landed in seemed bigger than the one back home. It wasn't as fancy with the moving signs and moving pictures. Plus the news window that changed. Earth's airport had a few tvs here and there but nothing fancy like on Lunar. The airport at Lunar had a glass roof so you could look up at the stars. They didn't have many street lights on Lunar. Most of the time light came from the sun, night didn't happen to often on Lunar. Only when they were OK the opposite side of Earth away from the sun. Lunar tended to use candles for light instead of the artificial light Earth uses.

Lunar did this to preserve their way of life. Light pollution was huge on earth from the history books. Some cities couldn't even see the stars at night because every street was littered with lights. The college Rhea and Kofi had chosen was in Florida only 5 minute drive away from the beach. There was an island city as well only another five minute drive away. Rhea was so excited and had bought many bathing suits before leaving Lunar. Their fashion was a bit different and Rhea was excited to show hers off.

Stepping out of the shuttle Rhea expected to have to cover her eyes at first. Yet the sun wasn't bright here on Earth. Truth on Lunar the sun was so bright cuz their ozone wasn't as thick as Earths. The Lunars had a natural immunity to the sun's rays, Rhea felt for the Earth kids when they stepped off their shuttle. Rhea looked up at Lunar and smiled brightly thinking about the Earth kids who were landing. They would be welcome with open arms.

Unlike here where it felt they were being shuttled to their prospective busses. Each bus already had other students on it that were going in the same direction. Rhea noticed some humans and she pearked up a bit. Maybe she could make some friends on this trip. Rhea sat next to someone she didn't know. A girl who was dressed similar to Rhea. Dark hair with colors throughout, her clothes were less flashy than Rheas but they were about the same.

"So they have Goths and Emos on Lunar?" the girl spoke up looking at Rhea.

"Is that what you guys call this style?" Rhea asked and the girl nodded and tilted her head to the side.

"And what is it called on Lunar." The other girl asked Rhea. Rhea perked up again.

"Darkness. Then we have pastel, Simple, business, and rainbow." Rhea explained and the other girl chuckled.

"I like Darkness instead of Goth." The girl extended her hand to Rhea and Rhea shook it with a bright smile. "My name is Freydis. My mother did name me that. I'm from norway." Rhea hadn't noticed an accent until the girl said where she was from. Her name was interesting and very beautiful.

"Rhea. Named after one if the Greek goddess. Or so my mother tells me." Rhea told Freydis. The two girls talked for a while. After finding out Freydis was going to the same college as Rhea, the girls were super excited. Hoping to get dormed together so they didn't have any awkwardness with a new person. Rhea was glad that she chose to sit next to this girl.

Kofi had sat in the very back of the bus watching Rhea and Freydis. Kofi had made a silent promise to himself that he wasn't going to let anything bad happen to Rhea. Even if Rhea wanted to find her fated Kofi was still going to protect her. A silly human wouldn't be able to protect Rhea like he could. Kofi cursed the gods and goddesses that didn't fate him with Rhea. Couldn't they see how he burned for Rhea? How he just wanted to be next to her and keep her safe? Kofi sighed and eventually the bus stopped at the front of Rhea and Kofis chosen college.
