24 Aaron could tell she was upset. Hell, he was upset. He didn’t want to work so late. But being an accountant in April meant long days. And he hadn’t been putting in enough of them lately. When Aaron’s boss, Harry, told him he needed to start pulling his weight again, he knew it meant things would get tough again. But he didn’t expect it to be this bad. He trudged into the kitchen and said, “I’m sorry. Harry was being a d**k. I’m starving. Do you have dinner for me?” Lizzy glared at his back while he dug through the fridge for the dinner he knew she’d cooked. She fought the urge to throw something at him and let him dig out the plate and slide it in the microwave. When he looked at her Lizzy saw something flash in his expression. Something she couldn’t identify. Aaron waited her out.
