“Come on, let’s go outside,” Jenny prompted. Lizzy nodded and followed her, carrying Mikey.
Jenny led the way straight to the parents who were arriving. The same ones Aaron was talking to. Lizzy hesitated as Jenny approached them. She knew Aaron was likely to leave the conversation if she joined it and she didn’t want him feeling uncomfortable. In his own home.
Jenny introduced herself to the other parents and indicated Lizzy, standing off to the side with Mikey. Mikey was chewing on his hand but gave Aaron a gummy smile when he saw him. Mikey reached for Aaron, nearly leaping from Lizzy’s arms.
Lizzy approached Aaron as he turned to take Mikey. Aaron’s hand brushed against Lizzy’s breast as he took Mikey. She sucked in a quick, sharp breath, and met his eyes.
