Curse of the Hidden Place

Episode 6

Mattheo

While we are walking, Collin is holding in my arms.

We continue to walk until we see an old house.

But . . .

Someone cover my mouth and pull me.

I lost consciousness when I felt someone hit me. at my back.

And once I open my eyes, I am already here in an unfamiliar place.

"Who are you?" I asked to this man who's standing in front of me.

As after I look at my left, I saw Collin who's still asleep.

I shake her arms and shoulders to wake her up and say, "Collin, wake up. We need to get out of here."

I continue shaking her.

"I will not hurt you. I have no intention of hurting you and your partner. I'm sorry if I need to do that." said the old man.

"You need to get out of here. You are not safe here." he added.

"Don't fool me, Sir. Coz, I don't believe you." I said while looking at him while trying to wake Collin up.

"But you have to. I don't think if this is still a safe place." He said while looking at me.

I'm just asking him, why?

But he tells me a story.

"Back then, it was a lively town where we lived happily. There is so many people living in here before. Until one day, there is a news that there is a spreading disease here in our town. The people began to panic. Many got sick, and surprisingly, they also killing themselves. Someone even said that, they eat each heart of their victims." said the old man while looking at me.

I was stock in my place. I can't make any move.

He continued to tell the story.

"A human who got sick then kill other people and worst, eaten their hearts? You're story is really impossible, Sir." I smirk.

"You're just making up a story to entertain us and so we don't think you're going to hurt us." I added.

"I will not force you to believe in me, ijo. I just want you to know the story of this place." said the old man.

"Aren't you wondering? Why is this place is beautiful but no one lives in here anymore?" he asked.

I'm just looking at him while listening.

"It was year, 2000. But I still remember everything. You are not the only one who discover this place. I still remember when a couple got stuck here. I don't know what happened but when they entered this place, they never came out again." he said as if there was a streak of fear in his face.

"Why should we believe you? You just hurt me and my friend earlier." I said while looking at him.

"I want to save you and your friends. Something I never did before. I not the curse is not yet over." He said with a serious tone.

I don't think if I will believe him but some ideas came up to my mind.

So I decided to find out why this place become like this.

"How long did you experience that disaster?" I asked as I'm still trying to wake up, Collin.

"Six months. I lost my family because of that tragedy. We decided to burn this place to end or stop the curse from spreding." he answered.

"You did that, alone?" I asked him in doubt.

"No! We are four who planned it. But only two is still alive. Me and my brother." he asnwered.

"But, where's your brother? Is he with you? Where is he?" I asked.

"I don't know where he is right now. He said he wants to get out of here. So he just leave me here." He answered.

"Why you didn't go with him?" I asked.

"I don't want to leave this place. I still have unfinished business here. So, I decided to live here. Inside the adjacent trees." he answered.

"Come on! Carry her. We need to bring her to the safer place. And I need you to get out of here. I do not want you and your friends to be the source of another curse that will end all of us." said the old man while helping me carrying Collin.

I walk carefully as I carry Collin. She's not that heavy so I did not feel tired carrying her.

While we are walking, I can't help but wonder why I really believe in this old man.

"Where shall we take her?" he asked while breathing fastly.

"We have a car located at the entrance. She will be safe there." I said.

We continue walking fastly as much as we can.

"How did you get in, when we already put up a warning sign that indicates that this is a restricted area, no one is allowed to enter." said the old man.

"We didn't see any signage there. We aren't supposed to be here. But the google map accidentally bring us here." I said.

"A google map?" he asked as if he's wondering.

"It is an application that help us where is the right way or taught us directions." he said.

When we got to where the car was, I carefully put down Collin in the car.

"Come on! We need to look for your friends before it's too late." He said.

"How about Collin? We can't leave her, here." I answered.

"I'll carry her instead." I said.

But after a moment, we heard the loud noise which I know comes from my friends.

"I gott'a go. Just make sure you will get out of this place, and please, keep this place as a secret. Pleasee." He said.

"You must be?" I asked while looking at his face.

"Manolo. Manoy for short." he said before he leaves.

They started to go inside the car.

"They noticed that, Collin is still unconscious so they started wondering.

As I entered the car, they started making annoying sounds caused Collin to wake up.

"What did you do to her, Mattheo? Is that why you suddenly disappeared? Where did you go?" He said while talking to me with a serious tone.

"I did nothing to her so don't blame me." I said with a loud voice.

"Excuse me, I'll seat beside him." said Collin.

"No. Stay there. You will pay for what you did, Mattheo!" said Samuel.

"I said, I did nothing. Nothing but to stay beside her. Making sure that she's okay! Until someone hit me at my back caused me to collapsed. You don't know the whole story, Samuel. So stop blaming me." I said while looking at him.

"He's right. There is someone hit me at my back also. And I still feel the pain." says Collin while taking his way beside me while holding the back of her head.

I started the car and get out of here.

After a few minutes of silence, Samantha began to speak.

" My arms is still aching. That monster! he bit me and I feel an extreme pain right now." said Gabbielle while holding her arms.

*Mwapss* "Kisses for you, Babe!" said Samuel after giving her girlfriend, a kiss.

As we heard Gabbielle's cough, I voluntarily gave her the medicine kit in my car and gave it to Collin.

"Look for the right medicine and gave it to her." I said.

She just nod at me.

"Why are you still silent, Ellise. Why don't you tell them what happened? What did you see?" Sabrina said.

She caught everyones attention.

When I look at her, it looks like, she's crying silently.

"What are you talking about, Sab?" said Collin after I see her looking at Sabrina.

"We see something." answered, Sabrina.

I can already hear her sobbing.

Then they keep asking her what's wrong and what's going on.

"It's really possible for that to happen. I just can't believe it." then she leave a deep sigh.

Everytime I look at Collin, she looks so interesting to Sabrina's story.

"I saw the monster in my dreams. That creature who bit Gabbi, that's exactly the creature I see in my dreams." said Sabrina.

"She's right. A zombie like, human being." said Ellise while her hands are shaking.

I heard the rest of my friends laughing.

"You're already infected by Ellise's craziness, Sab!" said Samuel while laughing.

"I'm sure no one will believe you. Just stop, stop making funny horror stories." he added.

"I don't care if you believe me or not but we're telling the god'damn truth!" said Ellise with the serious voice.

I heard Collin leave a deep sigh before she speaks.

"True or not, if you can't believe them, please stop teasing them. We're friends here! We are not enemies, so please! Stop it! Especially you, Sam!" said Collin while looking to Samuel.

I just continue my driving.
