Jace stared at me for a long moment. I could see him weighing his options.
“Fine,” he finally said. “I’ll save her. Wait here.”
“Hurry!” I called after him as he walked back into the house.
As soon as Jace left, Aria attacked me. She rushed at me, her face twisted with anger.
“You crazy b***h!” she screamed, trying to scratch my face. “I’ll kill you!”
“Kill me?” I grabbed her hair before she could hurt me. I pushed her down hard. She fell on the ground. “I’m not Celeste. I’m not someone you can mess with.”
I stood over her, breathing hard. “Try that again and see what happens.”
Jace came out a few minutes later, dressed in different clothes. He was on his phone, talking to someone in a serious voice.
“Let’s go,” he said to me.
