Chapter Eleven - Traitors used as puns

It was already nightfall when Mona returned to the room. She was a bit exhausted from her long stay at the beach at the back of the hotel. She had stayed under an umbrella staring at the sea. Her head ached from it, "anything is better than staying in the same room with an agitative boss" Mona thought before she opened the door and walked in.

The room was unusually quiet with no sign of Daren not even on the bed where he usually laid when he didn't feel like going out. Mona remembered she had an argument with him in the morning. Damn! Did he leave her here?

She quickly made for the wardrobe with her breath hanging in the hair. If Daren leaves her here, she would end up doing one thing which is smashing his head to pieces and telling Capital Project company that they got stuck in South Leone's street chaos which took Daren's life and mutilated his face.

When she opened the wardrobe, she relaxed a bit given what she saw. Daren's clothes were still in the wardrobe and at that point, she turned to the bed. His laptop was lying lazily across the bed. Then where the hell did he go to?

Slowly, she slipped into the bed and exhaled loudly. She had barely shut her eyes when a knock came on the door. Before she could stand to get the door, Gavin walked in. Mona was a bit surprised seeing Gavin in the room.

"Gavin - how - how did you manage to find me?"

Gavin turned to Mona a bit, "seriously? Are you being serious now?"

A thought crossed Mona's mind before she gave out a wry smile, "Sorry I forgot, we are both the same. But - don't you know the Triad forbids intrusion - I mean I didn't invite you over here"

Gavin walked towards Mona and sat on the bed, beside her. "It is more than urgent that I had to trace you here. I don't know when I will see you again - "

"What do you mean? Are you leaving the country?"

"A new organization has been set up - " Gavin faced Mona ignoring her question "and they are with the legal backing of the government to eliminate all our kinds"

Mona's eyes widened, that's not possible. They were never hostile to humans and tried their best to remain within their lines. Why the sudden change?

"You aren't being serious! I've never heard of such organization"

Gavin turned to his front, he seemed too calm about the whole situation. "The bounty hunters emanated from an ancient empress here in Guzan and right now, two of our kinds has betrayed us by giving information about our weaknesses to the self acclaimed hunters!"

Mona scoffed, Gavin is clearly angry about the whole turn of events. He seemed about to burst out of the room and pounce heavily on each member of the so called hunters. Why is she finding it hard to believe him?

"Within the few weeks of establishing this organization, it has spread to Mugeen and Senegeen - "

Mona became at alert when her home country was mentioned, her gaze sharpened before she locked it on Gavin. Isn't these petty human bunters biting more than they can chew?

"And they are after me now, obviously on their way here - " Gavin turned to Mona. "You have to be careful, that's why I ignored the Triadic laws and came to warn you. They have found the weapon we've managed to secure - "

"The spikes?"

"Not exactly - They will use the sacred metals in Guzan waterfall to forge the spikes themselves - "

"Oh my goodness! Who the hell are the treacherous monsters that exposed our weakness?" Mona was infuriated now, if everything Gavin said was right then their lives are clearly at stake.

"An Alpha and a Reiki, they have no idea they are being used as puns by these petty humans" Gavin smiled before turning to Mona. "You have to be careful Mona. I'll be on my way now training to achieve one clear mission I was reborn to do"

Her clan must be at stake right now. Scott was right, she should have quit her job to protect her clan. She felt restless and guilty. If anything should happen to any member of her clan, then she won't forgive herself. But how miniscule is the clan in South Leone that one of the three Alphas in their country should betray their trust? If it is for vengeance, pleasure or particularly fame, then the so called Alpha and Reiki are greatly being stupid because with introducing the special metals to the humans even their lives are at stake as well. The shutting of the door shook her back to consciousness.

"Wait - "

Mona rushed to the door and opened it. As she was about to go in pursuit of Gavin, she felt incredible pain on her left arm. It was as though a chisel was driven into her soft flesh. She groaned in pain and shut her eyes before feeling a bit dizzy. She managed to stare at her arm only to find a spike stuck into her arm. Her eyes widened in astonishment, it is true!

The bounty hunters existence are really true. Gavin must have sensed their presence. Gosh! Why was she finding it hard to believe they are here?

Mona managed to move back into the room before watching her blood slowly drip down her arm. Her head felt heavy while her breath seemed to increase. Her vision began to blur before her eyelids started dropping. She heard faint footsteps approaching before she finally passed out.

Her surroundings were blur at first before she began to hear two people arguing and more footsteps approaching. The pains were still there on her arm but the spike was no longer there. She proceeded to touch her wounded arm but only felt the bandage covering her wound. Slowly, her vision became clearer as she struggled to sit upright, she groaned in pain. Her head was spinning before she steadied herself.

Gosh! What sort of strange spike did those evil doers use on her? She was lucky to have escaped death this time.

Mona frowned when she saw about ten people in the room along with Daren standing right before her. A lady was the closest to him, she was wearing an evil grin while staring continuously at Mona.

"Can you just give me a satisfying reason why you had to attack an innocent lady in the first place?" Daren asked obviously angry. His whole body vibrating in rage stood firmly before Mona like a lioness protecting her cub.

"It was a mistake - we are really sorry for the inconvenience. We are bounty hunters, a newly established anti - alien organization. And we traced a dangerous alien to this hotel, a little boy of about ten years but before we could get here he was already gone - " chairman Yul explained.

"Did you say a little boy?" Daren asked like he just remembered something.

"Yes did you see him?" Kimberly asked while stealing glances at the slowly convalescing Mona. Mona on the other hand prayed Daren won't give them any accurate information about the whereabouts of Gavin.

Is he a retard? Can't he see that the young boy's life is at stake here? Mona felt her anger rising. Then she sensed someone trying to break into her mind, the Lady in front is an Alpha! Mona could sense the energy coming from her.

- Traitor!

Mona will never let her read her mind, not until she murders her right now.

"The last time we saw him was in a public train - "

Mona slowly exhaled in relief, Daren hasn't seen the boy recently.

"Alright - " Chairman Yul smiled though he was disappointed but there was no need to get angry at the innocent civilians, one of them was injured already due to their carelessness. He turned to Mona who was fully awake, "sorry for the pain. The ointment Legan applied to it will help you recover after few hours - "

Mona slowly nodded. It was a relief she hasn't gained any mastery of her powers yet. Currently she is like a normal human as there is not much energy flowing through her, so the much sensitive Alpha before her couldn't detect she is one of the aliens she's looking for.

"Chairman I suggest the next time we go on a mission that we go with the DE equipment. We might end up losing if the aliens get to sight us before we do - "

"Aliens?" Mona asked. The fool was calling her kind, aliens. We are not aliens!

"OK that's enough - let's go" chairman Yul commanded. The others immediately turned and left except Kimberly who was still staring at Mona.

"Leave - " Daren pointed Kimberly to the door. Kimberly smiled before turning to leave. "Damn! Why can't I read her mind?" Kimberly murmured to herself as she walked through the door.

As soon as Daren heard the door shut, he turned to Mona "we are leaving this insecure hotel right away!"
