Chapter 36: A Knights pride

This old guy has a white beard but it shaped like the one's on the anime that a general would usually have but his hair on his head was mixed with blacked and white hair, with his sharp eyes and a scar on his face that looked like a daggers wound.

"Yep... and I'm not in some kind of a cult group such as the church..." Blurgh, church eh... they use such a sacred name back on earth to use as an excuse to exploit the peoples weaknesses pituih!

As Nyx was disgusted by people who uses the church to exploit power and the faith of human kind the old man kneeled down and beg for forgiveness.

"This... I'm sorry for my rudeness earlier but I was afraid that you will be used by the church in their schemes... I'm so sorry young man and this guy too I'm sorry I used him just to get some information regarding such a talented young man..."

"This... it's okay sir Helbert, Nyx isn't such a bad person to blame on others..." I hope Nyx doesn't get offended or be angry, I heard sir Helbert was a honourable and an upright Knight back then but when the church came to power they kidn*pped his granchild and ised his family as a chip to use on him

But after a few years sir Helbert knew something was wrong and his worst nightmare came to life, his wife died his son was imprisoned. But it wasn't just that the nobles who had their eyes on him were of course angry at him and envy his glory and when the church came to power they made his granddaughter and his son, his entire family so he became their lapdog for the church and his wife and his step daughter were made playthings for the nobles to play and vent their anger to and after a while his wife had a mental breakdown and killed herself but the church denied everything that happen and he had no choice but to continue fighting for them...

"But after a while he was tasked to kill two Demon generals but it was more than his capabilities and of course he fought them with all his might after half a day the fight was concluded and it was known as the Resurgence of humanity, it was the first time that a knight can fight both Demon General as an equal."

As Nyx heard sister Maria explained the old man's back story he felt and genuinely felt sad for him, back on the ten thousand immortal worlds it was a normal thing for strong people to exploit stronger people and back stabbed them. But for a normal mortal it would be devastating as they had family and loved ones to care as for a cultivator, they would hardly have any feelings anymore except for falling in love suddenly but their cultivation progress would slow down which is why sect's try their best to make their disceples not interact with the outside world and only let them be when they are ready to face the path of cultivation.

"Yes, that was my whole story kid... but no body believed me when I told them my story because they saw the church as "divine" or a "holy" place but no... they only uses the god's blessing and only help people when they have money but deceive those who are useful to them."

I couldn't help but sigh and sae the old man's face full of tears but never made a sound, I can see why he wanted to warn me but I wasn't a fool nor a weakling, I won't be like those MC's who will be played by others

I already had my fair share of grief back then and by my experience and power, hardly cam there be anyone who can take advantage of me, except for my friends maybe haha.

"Old man, I can see that your story is truly miserable... I... condolences old man but I'm not weak, nor am I a fool so don't worry" I sighted and once again looked at the poor old man his eyes gleamed the sight of hope and maybe thought "if he can't save his family then he should at the very least save me" or something like that haha.

"Young man... if you would let me... I want to be a knight again, and I will gladly appreciate it if you would not decline this old man's offer"

"Sir Helbert..! Your excellency shouldn't do something like this..! the church will always be grateful for you and you shouldn't let your talent be imprisoned by our small religion..." As I looked at sister Maria I saw her face full of shock and embarrassment and knew that this old man really isn't that simple and that story might hold some truth after all.

"Sister.. if I might not be rude... your belief in the church is something I should be proud of but... that belief isn't necessary, and I'm sure you know that the church only helps those who have the money and don't bat an eye to those poor people, and you might also not believe my story but it was the whole truth... and I can see it in your eyes you see me as the church's hero, but it seems your too young... and too naive but that can be change if you are willing to be this young man's vessel sister."

"V-vessel..?! Urgh... sir Helbert... don't joke about that stuff, were... were too young for that..." I looked sister Maria and this "Vessel" thing I don't know about that but her reaction seems weird, but I like the sound of it!(hehe)

"Ahem..! This vessel you spoke of sir Helbert, I'm sure I can do that if it's sister Maria..." Hehe I just to push sister Maria in a corner and make her agree to this "Vessel" thing, it must be something erotic.

"HAHAHA! Young man you are quite good! A vessel is someone who the Saint can usually trust and share them his blessings and do his biddings for him together with his/her guardian Knight... but now it seems a "Vessel" is used to make the church's Saints be mote proactive and let them use those poor sisters as there play things... *sigh*" As the old man sigh I regained my seriousness and heard this and looked at sister Maria and it seems that being a vessel is them putting their lives wholly.

"Uhh... now that I heard what it means... I think Paul should be my vessel then..." That was quite embarrassing, but that was quite a let down I was hoping sister Maria would agree.

"W-what..?! Paul? then... then I'll agree if you... if you do it with Paul then... then that might seem inapproriate..." As I looked at sister Maria I notice how red she was and thought, finally I'm popular with girls and she said she'll do it with me hehe.

"Ahem... the both of you really are misunderstanding something, a vessel only receives a portion of the Saint's healing power and this transfer can be done when both party feel the same and agree to each other which is usually shown as kiss, and ahem... the other one is inappropriate for kids it is done like what adults do all the time when they feel they need love..." This is a very inappropriate thing to say in front of two child but it seems this sister have misunderstood or the church made it this way so the Saints van have their way of the poor girls.

"Umm... ahem now back to the subject, sir Helbert you want to be my knight..?" This so cool! I didn't think Knights and all that in the anime would only be seen in anime but now I finally meet one and I might also learn the history of this world that sister Maria told me in mote detailed way plus I might also as well make him one of my people and I might as well learn the swordmanship of this world and start adventuring!

"Yes, I may sound preposterous to you young sir but please I want to do at least one good thing before I leave this world... this is my pride as a Knight" As the old man humbly bowed to me like a knight would his tone and facial expression was that of an old butler at this time, his sharp gaze was now that as soft as a father who is looking after his son.

"Hahaha! old man you have eyes, you see Mt. Tai at a glance it seems your luck is very good meeting me, now not only will you be my Knight but as my Knight I need to properly teach you what real swordsmanship really is" I may sound arrogant to him right now but that is the truth, if someone swore his loyalty to me then of course he'll be properly compensated by me!

As the Dark Knight, And the sword emperor who has manage to reach my goal in creating a supreme sword art and comprehensing all kinds of sword intent to maximize my potential, it isn't a lie if I may so that I'm the sword emperor.
