Chapter Five: Perfect Match

Bianca had to admit that she was nervous when she just thought she was going out for a Nanny/Housekeeper interview, but now that she knew the full extent, this made her really nervous. She liked the feeling of helping a family obtain their dreams of having kids. That was a huge appeal. She loved kids, and she loved helping people. But in all honesty, the money would change her life. That was the attraction. As Bianca looked around the front of her home, paint peeled off the exterior and the roof was in need of repair. It wasn't much to look at but it’s what she could afford. Money didn't define her. Bianca wasn't concerned with material things. No, for Bianca, money was important to her for one thing only, her family. She loved them dearly. She sat on a boulder in front of her yard and tried to compose her thoughts. She was so nervous meeting Mr. Stanton that day. He was easily the most attractive man she had ever seen, hands down. That part made her a little nervous itself. Good looking men usually were arrogant, in her experience. But honestly, his kind eyes, she knew, would calm her nerves. Bianca could tell that he was a good person at heart. He was someone she would have been friends with outside of the potential of this crazy job that she was agreeing to. "Why on earth am I consodering this," she mumbled to herself? "Is money really worth losing my virginity to a business deal," she wondered? "I suppose we sha'll see." She finally got up the courage to make her way towards her destination. She knew it was a meeting that could change the whole course of her life, in so many ways. "Don't be nervous, it's just a second interview," is what Bianca kept repeating to herself over and over in her head as she made her way down the road towards the local coffee shop that she lived near. She had walked that same strip hundreds of times in the past, getting from one place to the next. She could recall every house and every street sign on the way. This walk was no different than any other, but today it seemed different. She felt different. The sights looked different. It was as if she had a heightened sense of awareness that everyone and everything was starting at her. She knew logically that couldn’t be so. Bianca began to stress over the feeling of being judged. “Maybe he wouldn’t like me. Maybe I won’t be smart or funny enough for him. Maybe I’m boring or unattractive to him. Maybe I’m too short or too uneducated for him.” All of these thoughts flooded through her brain. About 30 minutes after his first meeting, Bianca showed up early to meet Brian. She came waltzing into the coffee shop, looking just as cute as the first time he had seen her. Bianca locked eyes with Brian and all of her fears just seemed to fade away. She knew she could do this. Brian felt butterflies shift in his stomach. He knew it, there was just something about her. She was different than the others. She was what they needed. She was what he needed to make this process a possibility. Brian noticed her blonde hair was up this time in a messy bun. She had on a tight pair of skinny jeans that showed her round bottom and a cardigan over a tight tank, which accentuated her cleavage. She bundled herself up with a scarf and a peacoat. Bianca immediately went up to Brian, hugged him, and greeted him with a warm smile! "I'm sorry if I'm too early. It's just getting chilly out, and I wanted to get warm," Bianca explained enthusiastically! "No problem at all. I appreciate your promptness," Brian smiled back. "Did you walk here," he asked in a curious tone? "Yes, my car unfortunately was out of gas, so I walked. It's okay, though. The exercise is good for me," Bianca explained. Brian gave her a curious grin with an eyeball raise. He appreciated that she was flexible to run with the punches and not make drama about a bad situation. That alone was admirable. He wasn’t so sure his wife would do the same. He honestly didn’t know if he had ever just seen Olivia take a walk for fun or out of necessity. Brian gestured for Bianca to sit and they both took their places across from one another. “Thank you for coming,” Brian began. “Thank you for having me!” "Why don't you start by telling me why this position interests you," Brian asked? "Well, I love kids, but the daycare that I work for doesn't pay me enough to live comfortably and help my family...hence the running out of gas," Bianca divulged. "So when I saw the job for a Maid/Nanny, I was excited at the thought of still working with kids. Plus, living with the family will help me save with the cost of rent. It was a win-win," Bianca smiled. "Family is important to you then," he asked? “Yes, I'm basically the rock for my Gram and my younger Brother," she stated! “I feel a sense of obligation to take care of them, but honestly I wouldn’t have it any other day.” "Well, that is a strong attribute," he complimented her. "I am close with my family, also!" "That is nice," she said kindly. "Family is the most important thing in the world! I can't wait to have my own one day. Being around kids are the greatest!" "Since we do not have any kids yet," he smiled, "are you going to be satisfied working as a Maid for now," Brian asked? "Yes, of course! It will be good practice for me. I can cook too, if you'd like someone to do some cooking...I mean, if I'm officially working as a Nanny," she asked kindly? "That sounds nice! I think my wife would appreciate not being the only one cooking," he chuckled! "If I'm going to be honest, I don't think it's a passion of hers, but she tries...and it's mostly edible," he joked! Bianca giggled. "No problem. I can cook most anything! I have a lot of experience in that department," stated Bianca. The conversation between the two seemed to flow so easily. Brian knew he needed to rip the bandaid off the upcoming topic, though. He tapped his leg again with the same nervousness that crept up earlier. "I have an odd question for you," Brian mumbled a little. "I feel so awkward even asking, but I know it's important," Brian began. "I found out that you are a virgin; I hope you don't mind?" "No, of course not. I knew it would come out sooner or later, Bianca blushed a little. The only reason that I didn't tell you both from the beginning was because I was nervous that you wouldn't consider me for the position because of it," Bianca defended her decision. "So you are okay with losing your virginity to a married man, to someone you don't love, or are even marrying," he continued curiously? "Yes. I wasn't savings myself for marriage or anything. I just never found a man that was worthy of my body," she expressed. "But with you... you want children badly, I believe, and to me, that's a worthy cause," Bianca smiled at Brian. Bianca touched his hand softly. “Plus, you are like a good guy. Good guys are hard to find. I would now!” She pulled her hand away. Brian felt a sense of ease come over him. He was really connecting with her. She was answering all the questions exactly as he would hope. He just had one final question, which would seal the deal for him. "Bianca, tell me..are you going to be comfortable having children with me, with your very own DNA..and then essentially raising them as the Nanny," he asked cautiously? “That is a big ask!” Bianca processed his statement for a brief second and looked him straight to his eyes. She could see his sincerity in his questioning. “Yes, they would be yours and your wife's. As long as I could see that they would be taken care of properly, then I would be comfortable giving up my rights to them!” Brian smiled softly and then looked down ever so slightly “I would still love them, though. I wouldn't be able to not... I hope that is okay," she touched his hand again kindly as she nervously asked? Brian looked up and put his hand on top of hers now. “It is more than okay.” I wouldn't expect anything less," he said sincerely. He then realized her was touching her. Yes, she had touched his hand first but he didn't want her to feel uncomfortable or think him inappropriate, so he pulled away. "I am sorry. This is all so new to me. I’m not sure I am ready..," Brian was cut off mid sentence. Bianca’s heart ached for him. She then touched his hand back again, sensing his nervousness. She hadn't considered that he wasn't fully prepared for this new business deal. She found it very refreshing that they were both nervous. He was truly kind and considerate. "It's okay," she assured him. He smiled, sensing her kindness. " You will play multiple very important roles in my kids' lives, so you loving them would only be a blessing," Brian encouraged her! Brian and Bianca managed to spend two whole hours in the coffee shop together that day. He ordered her coffee and pastries. They chatted about everything under the sun. He really felt like it was important to get to know her well if he was going to be intimate with her. Brian wanted to know about her family, her friends, her past dating history, her aspirations, her fears, and everything in between. Bianca, too, was eager to learn the same about Brian. If she were to live and function in a new house, she needed to understand what she was getting into. They had both felt as if they had hit it off, like long-lost friends. It was just easy. "You remind me of a girl I once knew," Brian said softly to Bianca. "Her name was Beth. She was the most selfless person I had ever met," he added. "She sounds wonderful," she noted. "Is she still in your life," Bianca inquisitively asked? "No. Unfortunately, not. She had an accident right around high school graduation," he looked down quietly. "I'm so sorry," Bianca consoled him. "I can tell that she was very important to you." "Yes, she was not only my girlfriend but my best friend," he added. Silence hit the room and she patted his hand for support. "But enough somber talk. I am fine. It was a very long time ago." Bianca could see that this was a sore subject for him so she wanted to change the topic. “So tell me about you and Olivia,” she inquired. Brian’s face lit up. Olivia is great. She is a very smart, bad ass, boss woman who will do great things in this world. She is only just beginning to flourish.” “I can see that you love her and are so proud of her,” Bianca was happy to see his passion for his wife. “Yes, she is amazing,” he admitted. “Does she remind you of Beth, too?” Brian’s face fell a little. “Unfortunately, no. They were very much opposites. Bianca immediately regretted her question. It was obviously overstepping and she could see that she had upset him. “I think, if I had to admit it, that could be the attraction that I had initially with you, Bianca. You reminded me of her. You see, in my eyes, Beth was nearly perfect.” Bianca blushed a little “I need to stop comparing woman to her, he looked away.” "Oh my gosh! Look at the time; it's getting so late. It's already after 8 pm," Bianca looked up at the clock in surprise. "Let me drive you home," he offered! "No. I couldn't let you do that. I'm okay walking. There are street lights out there," she explained. "Nonsense. I won't have it! I'll not have the potential mother of my future children being frozen to death, or worse, mugged," he chuckled. Although he was quite serious, nonetheless. "I don't want you to see where I live, Mr. Stanton! It's nothing fancy like your big beautiful house. It's just a one bedroom apartment over a small shop," she told him rather embarrassed. Reddness filled her cheeks. Brian could see her embarrassment and wanted to ease it any way he could. “If you live there, I'm sure it's greàt," he tried to make her feel better about the situation. Besides, it's not about what you have in life. It's about who you have to share it with," he smiled! "Now get your coat on...I will not take no for an answer...and do call me Brian!” Bianca smiled as she put on her jacket. She watched Brian as he went over and paid the bill. Suiting for him by the door, Brian reached over her and opened the coffee shop door for her. She felt him brush against her ever so slightly. This sent a wave through her body that she hadn’t felt before. It scared her a little. Brian too had sensed it. It was like a voltage had come between them as he held the door open for her and their bodies briefly met one another. He then ushered her in the direction of hisJeep. Brian was a true gentleman and held the door open for her again. Bianca grabbed a hold of the handle and hopped inside. She was happy to know that Chivalry was not dead in his eyes. Brian followed into the other side not long after. He smiled at her, not really knowing what to say. He hadn’t had another woman in his vehicle since before he met Olivia. It was a little awkward for them both being in such an intimate space together now. It felt different than the time they had just shared in the coffee shop. After a short pause of silence, Bianca explained to him where she lived, pointing towards the left. "We need to make a stop first," Brian stated to her. Bianca didn’t know what to make of this detour. But even though she had just met him, Brian put her at ease. She had a feeling that she could trust him with her life. Brian drove in the opposite direction from her apartment. York Beach was a very small town, so he had to drive a little ways to get to his desired destination. About five minutes later, Brian pulled into the gas station. "You needed gas," she chuckled! "Not me," he smiled at her and got out of the Jeep. He then went into the store and purchased a gas can. Then he took it to the pump and filled it up. Bianca could see now why they had made the trip. Her heart beat widely now. When he had gotten back inside, Bianca didn't know what to say. She knew that the gas was for her. It was single handedly the nicest thing that any stranger had done for her. "You didn't have to do that," she said shyly! "Yes, I did. You're going to be family... and I too always take care of my family," he said, cooley. Bianca smiled. She knew that that was his official offer of employment. When they pulled up to her apartment, Brian took it upon himself to fill her gas tank for her. "There you go, Miss Mortimer," he stated with a kind smile as he screwed the gas cap back on to her vehicle snugly. "Thank you, Mr. Stanton, I mean Brian, "she corrected herself. "You have no idea how much I appreciate this," she shook his hand. "I wanted to go to the nursing home in a couple of days to see my Gram, and this will be quite helpful!" "I think I do know how appreciative you are," he responded. “I know how important your family is to you!” He then walked away and got into his Jeep. Before Bianca could head inside, Brian put his window down and hollared to her. "Miss Mortimer! Give your two week notice tomorrow! We'll be in touch further," he smiled. "Okay, she jumped up with excitement! Thank you so much!" She then waved him off. What a kind man, she thought. He will make the task of being intimate with a stranger so much easier. Yes, Bianca was content with where her future was heading. Things would be looking up for sure. Her luck was changing!
