CHAPTER SIX

Jackson check his watch for the hundredth time, the charity event was about to start and Maria was no where you be seen they agreed to meet at the venue, “why is she late?“ He asked himself he was already getting impatient and displeasure was evident on his face.

“Sorry sir I am late traffic”

He wanted to explode his pent up anger but when I turned his words got stuck in his throat, he could have swore it was his first time Maria but she was his assistant, standing in front of him was an angel in human form, she had her hair held backward she so Soo beautiful that it made him wonder why he never noticed his little assistant was a grown woman.

He looked at her from her face down to her feet still he couldn't get enough.

“Sir?“ Maria called snapping him out of his trance, without saying a word he handed out his hand taking his hand, they both walked to entrance showing their invitation, they walked right in, people stood in group discussing business.

Jackson checked round I found who he was looking, “I want to speak to the lady in green, don't run around I will be right back”

Maria was quite upset she took her time to dress up he couldn't even compliment her, she took wine from one the waiters working around and gulp it.

“Your lover left you?“

Maria chocked on alcohol hearing the voice behind her.

“Sorry I shouldn't have walked in on you like that” he added passing her a handkerchief, “thank you” Maria said in between her coughs as she collected the handkerchief.

“I am Alan by the way” he said taking out his hand, “Maria” she said with a smile taking out her hand too, Alan took her and placed a kiss on it.

“Why is a stunning lady doing standing all alone?“ He asked as he placed his hand for her to take, “This Cinderella was waiting for her fairy godmother” Maria answered taking his arm as the walked together, he laughed liking her senses of humor, while maria smiled in return.

“Luckily the time hasn't struck twelve so you can tighten up your shoes” he added.

“Alan” Both if them turned to the voice who spoke, “Alright beautiful this is young master Kenny. Kenny. Maria” he gesturing them to each other. Kenny and Maria kept looking at each other, while Alan was observing the two, suddenly Kenny walked up to Maria with a straight face.

Alan held his breath thinking of what Kenny will but what Kenny did instead shocked him.

Kenny walked up to Maria and then hugged her arm flattering her “ sister you are Soo pretty, I am jealous, I want to be pretty like you” he kept on with his flattering.

Alan came back to his senses dragging Kenny away from Maria.

“I am so sorry Maria” Alan apologized seriously but Maria reply left him dumbfounded and thinking of his life choices.

“Aww he is so cute I feel like him home” Maria said with shining eyes, at this point Alan thought he was normal one among this two.

The charity is starting a waiter came an informed them.

“We will meet sometime later pretty sister” Kenny said leaving with Alan.

“Who are those people?“ Jackson asked looking at the backs of the figures leaving,

“Just guests” Maria replied as walked into the charity event.

The charity event was smooth it was time for the dance everyone picked up their dance partner to dance floor, Jackson tried catching attention of the one he came for,

“Come with me “ Maria said taking Jackson's hand to the dance floor “what are you doing?“ Jackson asked clearly upset but trust me was all she said.

She place her hand rightfully as they began to dance, suddenly the music changed, many couldn't keep up with the speed and left the dance floor till only Maria and Jackson were left, what surprised Jackson was Maria could keep up without running breathless. After music ended turned bowing to the crowd while they applaused them, Jackson looked at Maria with admiration as they walked back to their seat.

“Nice dance Mr Lee” a woman compliment handing him a business card.

Both Maria and Jackson turned to a certain direction looking at particular person as the person smiled and nodded at them.

Jackson was happy even though he didn't get to speak to that person, surely he had to treat Maria to a meal looking at Maria who is stuffing herself with cake, it didn't look disgusting rather it looked cute. Looking at her she surely took her time to dress today even done her hair, she looked beautiful he wondered if she had a boyfriend he must be lucky to have her. If Maria probably knew what Jackson was thinking she will vomit blood.

The charity event came to an end when Kenny walked up the stage gave a speech, the parking lot was filled with people leaving, it was already 10pm and no taxis where available. Looking at Maria he wanted to ask if he should take her home but someone else beat him to it, a car drove peter stuck out his head waving Maria as waved back.

“See you tomorrow at the sir” Maria said ready to leave, she turned walking toward the car but stop and turned around when Jackson called her “you look beautiful today” he complimented reluctant to let her go.

Maria smiled and walked to car and it drove off.

When Maria go to car she screamed happy squeezing Peter till he couldn't breath, though she smiled a little but only God knew she died and woke thousands of times when he said she looked beautiful, she was a little unhappy when he didn't say anything but now all grievance were gone, it wasn't bad dressing up at all, maybe she should put more effort in dressing up just so he noticed her more.

That night Maria slept comfortable than she did in the passed few years.
