Eloise gave Clarice the benefit of the doubt, but she still couldn't help but be anxious for the next few days. She was always on edge, afraid that Jinx or anyone from the Newtons would suddenly pop up and reveal her pregnancy, but as days passed, such a thing didn't happen, and she began to relax.
She couldn't help but feel sad, however, because she found out that Nela, one of her fellow maids, was pregnant as well, but unlike her, she couldn't take vitamins or the necessary medicine to keep her baby healthy. She can only stare in envy as she takes vitamins and eats fruits that her in-laws brought for her.
