Tears of an empty Jar

210 Words
What does it mean to trust? Why must I trust when I will only be betrayed?", the young child asked. "That exactly what it is, dear. You don't need to understand. It's what you need to have hope for... to live...", says the older figure next to her. "Really? Even though you know you will only cry??", asked the child as her attention drew towards the face of the figure beside her, dark circles under her eyes, lips that were worn and torn from the biting, and a face as pale as a ghost. "... Yes... yes, you will. You can't escape it either way." replied the figure fidgeting. "Why?" "... Because... an empty jar can't cry not unless you fill it only to break it... again..." "... Why?" "Exactly." The child felt confused but didn't ask again. For despite the fact that she may be small and still pure from stains, she understood that an empty jar could never weep tears unless it's filled with water to the brim and then broken to pieces thereafter. But the thing is, after the jar weeps all of its water dry, it will only be molded back again to a jar that has a lot of space to fill water with, again.
