Chapter 5: The New Beginning

Within this endless darkness, Lauryn felt that her whole body was screaming in pain. However, Lauryn could see nothing but the darkness that filled her vision at this moment.

For a moment Lauryn was panicked by what had happened to her at this point, she was trying to remember what had happened before. The harder Lauryn thought about it, the more her headache from it.

It was then that Lauryn felt that she was being sucked into a black hole which made her very dizzy. Suddenly, because of that Lauryn opened her eyes in shock, her body automatically jumped from the bed she was currently sleeping on.

Remembering the incident on the edge of the cliff at that time, Lauryn's breath became shallow at this time, her eyes widened because she was worried about what was happening to her.

Instantly Lauryn immediately checked her entire body, checking whether she was still intact at this time. It was then that Lauryn heard someone's voice which made her very surprised because she didn't expect someone to be there.

"Finally you're awake. How are you feeling?" asked the person calmly, but it seemed that he was watching the movements of Lauryn carefully.

Hearing that person's voice, Lauryn realised that at this time she was no longer in the lake at the bottom of the abyss. For a moment Lauryn surveyed the place she was currently in and ignored the question from the stranger.

Seeing that he was being ignored by Lauryn, the man who had just entered the room occupied by Lauryn chose to walk closer to Lauryn and intended to check her condition directly.

Lauryn, who felt the foreign man approaching, immediately fended off his hand that was trying to touch her, she immediately pulled herself away and cast a sharp gaze at the man, because she really didn't know this foreign man.

"Who are you?! Tell me where I am right now!" Lauryn's body immediately put on an alert posture and was ready to attack if she saw that the man intended to do something bad to her.

Even though it wasn't too visible from the outside, the foreign man was honestly very surprised by the reaction Lauryn gave him, he didn't expect a girl that he and his troops rescued would be this wary of him.

The foreign man also thought that it would be better to immediately reveal who he was so that the woman he saved could feel his sincerity who only wanted to save her.

"You don't need to be so wary, I mean no harm to you. If knowing who I am puts you at ease then you can call me Ettienne Winston and you're in my pack." Ettienne explained, slowly walking backwards away from Lauryn, he didn't want to frighten Lauryn who had just woken up after sleeping for almost a full week.

Lauryn's brain immediately worked after she heard the name of the person who said she had saved her. "Winston? The person from Ruby Moon?! Damn it, how could I be found by an enemy pack like this!" Lauryn thought with annoyance, she did not expect that it was her enemy who had come to save her.

"In that case, I'm currently in the Ruby Moon pack. Looks like for now I have to hide my identity first, it will be dangerous if they find out who I am," Lauryn continued in her mind, she immediately made the right decision for her current situation.

"Hey, are you all right?" asked Ettienne, frowning in confusion, because Lauryn was silent after she told him her name.

Ettienne waved her hand in front of Lauryn's face, trying to pull her back from her endless reverie.

Realising that she had lost her mind, Lauryn blinked a few times, after which she looked up to look at Ettienne who was looking at her with a strange look.

"Ahh, I'm fine. Thank you for saving me before," Lauryn answered while lowering her head, however she had to thank Ettienne and his troops for saving her.

"No problem, but are you sure you're okay? The problem is you haven't been conscious for almost a week," Ettienne replied, doubtful about Lauryn's condition.

Instantly Lauryn was stunned when she heard Ettienne's explanation to her, not expecting that she had been asleep for a whole week.

"It seems that the choice to throw oneself off a cliff is indeed not a good thing," thought Lauryn while shaking her head, still unable to believe that she had been unconscious all this time.

"Y-you're not kidding right?!" Lauryn asked uncertainty to Ettienne.

"I really didn't lie to you. I'll get a doctor to check on you again," Ettienne replied, then he quickly rushed out of the room to call the doctor in his pack.

Seeing Ettienne's departure, Lauryn immediately uncovered the blanket that was on her body, she intended to observe her surroundings, she had to know where she was at this time.

However, unfortunately, just as Lauryn stepped on the floor, she immediately felt that her legs had no strength and made her fall helplessly onto the floor.

Lauryn was really dumbfounded by what happened to her, it seemed like she had been unconscious for a full week making her body completely powerless.

"Damn, I'm in such a weak state right now. I can't go on like this, especially while in an enemy place like this," Lauryn muttered, feeling that feeling of anxiety start to infiltrate the corners of her heart.

Once again Lauryn intends to get back on her feet and try to take a step. However, as before just one step Lauryn fell again.

At the same time Ettienne and two other people entered the room, they looked at each other in surprise.

"Oh my god! What happened to you?!" A female doctor immediately ran up to Lauryn and tried to help her back to the bed she was occupying.

"Thank you, earlier I tried to look around, but apparently my legs don't have the strength to do it," Lauryn replied while scratching the back of her head awkwardly.

"Lie down, I will examine you," said the female doctor while helping Lauryn to lie down on her bed.

Then, a voice came from the door, "Isabelle, I'm leaving her in your care, Simon and I have to go." It turned out that Ettienne, who was also there, immediately said goodbye to leave.

The female doctor whose name turned out to be Isabelle just waved her hand and didn't care about what Ettienne would do, because she was seriously examining her patient.

Meanwhile, Lauryn was just silent in her place, allowing Isabelle to examine it, she was also curious about what happened to her body after her rash action.

After a long time, Lauryn watched Isabelle examine her seriously, she could sigh when she saw that Isabelle had finished her series of examinations.

"So how is my condition right now?" asked Lauryn quickly, she was already curious about what happened to her.

It's just that Lauryn became a little nervous when she saw the look on Isabelle's face that didn't look good, she could even notice that she was looking at her with a strange look at this moment.

Immediately Lauryn felt a bad feeling at this time, she also turned into anxiety at this time.
