Chapter 6: Is It the Worst?

A sigh came from Isabelle, not too sure what to say to Lauryn at this point. It's just that as a doctor, of course Isabelle had to tell Lauryn about her true condition.

"Given that we found you washed up on the side of the river, it's not surprising that your condition would get bad enough like this," Isabelle finally answered.

"Is my condition that bad?" Lauryn was currently quite scared to hear how her body was in condition, she only hoped that there was no fatal wound on her.

Isabelle nodded her head slowly, "Your leg seems to have been hit by a fairly strong impact and caused it to become stiff as it is now. Your internal injuries are also quite worrying because it looks like you've swallowed too much water," Isabelle explained, she slowly glanced at Lauryn to see her reaction.

Stuck in place, that's all Lauryn could do at this time, she didn't expect that her wound would be this bad, no wonder she couldn't put her foot on the floor before, apparently there was something wrong with her leg.

Actually, Lauryn also felt that her body was still in pain, even though she no longer saw any scars or gaping wounds on her body. It seems that because of their kind's regeneration ability, Lauryn doesn't see any wounds on her body.

But, if it was a deep wound, then a different matter, Lauryn immediately looked up to see Isabelle who was still there.

"What should I do to deal with deep wounds on my body? You must know better that deep wounds are very dangerous if they are not treated immediately." Lauryn immediately expressed her anxiety to Isabelle, she didn't want to die in vain after successfully saving herself from Sebastian's pursuit.

Isabelle gave a smile to Lauryn, trying to calm Lauryn who seemed very worried about her current situation. Isabelle stretched her hand to gently pat Lauryn's shoulder.

"Don't worry, I'll find out how to cure you. I think I need to discuss this with Alpha about this," Isabelle replied, thinking that Ettienne would have thought the same thing as her.

Before Lauryn could reply to Isabelle's words, she again heard Isabelle say something to her.

"For now rest here, I still have something to do," Isabelle replied smiling again, then turned to leave the room.

Lauryn could only see Isabelle leaving, she who was left alone there was immediately filled with thoughts.

"Is it alright if I stay here?" muttered Lauryn while guessing how her fate is now. The reason is, if Lauryn leaves here she also has nowhere to go and it is very likely that she will be caught again by Sebastian.

"But, if I stay here, will they allow it? From what I hear it seems that Ruby Moon is not friendly enough to provide a place to live for a stranger like me," Lauryn continued feeling more and more dizzy at this time.

"Moreover, my current situation is even more troublesome. I'm not sure that someone named Ettienne will allow Isabelle to heal my internal wounds." Lauryn breathed out in resignation at this moment.

It turned out that it was Isabelle who had only been able to meet Ettienne to report on Lauryn's condition after he checked on her a few moments before.

And Isabelle didn't come alone, she was with Simon, who for some reason wanted to join in on the conversation about Lauryn, whom he was very suspicious of.

"What a coincidence that you came, I was waiting for your report about Lauryn's condition," Ettienne said casually in his chair, he leaned back while looking at his two subordinates.

"It seems Alpha already knows what I will report on my visit this time." Isabelle smiled a little. "Regarding Lauryn, it turns out that her condition is worse than we expected, Alpha," Isabelle continued, then explained about Lauryn's current condition with a serious face.

Ettienne's eyes immediately changed when he heard the report Isabelle gave him. The slight smile that had perched on Ettienne's face earlier disappeared as he understood Lauryn's current state.

"Deep wounds? What did she do to hurt this badly?" said Ettienne, frowning as he looked at the report he was currently holding.

Simon, who had been silent all this time, immediately spoke up when he heard Ettienne's words. "I told you that the woman is suspicious. Look, I'm sure she must have been in a fight before with someone to make her hurt like that," Simon said, still clinging to his suspicions of Lauryn.

For a moment there was silence in the room, no one spoke again. Then, Isabelle decided to raise her voice.

"If we want to help her, then the best option is to let her stay here, Alpha. But, as Simon said, it is very risky to allow an unknown person like Lauryn to live here," Isabelle explained later, being a doctor of course she wanted to help Lauryn, but on the other hand this choice was very dangerous for their pack.

Considering that the situation in the central plains was not very stable at the moment, war could erupt at any time between the existing packs, of course Isabelle and Simon thought that Ettienne would not allow Lauryn to stay in their pack.

"Then let Lauryn stay here. Also, Isabelle does the treatment for her, tell me whatever you need to cure her." Seemingly carefree, Ettienne told Simon and Isabelle his decision casually.

Meanwhile, Simon and Isabelle also opened their eyes in surprise when they heard Ettienne's decision so easily.

"Y-you sure, Alpha?" Isabelle asked nervously, she couldn't believe her ears at this point.

Simon, who saw how relaxed Ettienne was now, rubbed his face in exasperation, "Good grief, Alpha. Can't you be a bit more serious about this matter? Don't you have any suspicions about that woman coming here? What if she means something bad to our pack?" All the questions that were on his mind, Simon immediately issued to Ettienne.

Ettienne, who already knew the nature of his beta, only had a faint smile on his face, regardless of what Simon said to him.

"My decision is unanimous, nothing can change it. One thing you need to know is that I have my own reasons for letting her stay here," Ettienne finally answered after letting Simon throw a series of questions at him.

Isabelle, who was next to Simon, immediately pulled him away from Ettienne's room when they were given the signal to leave the room.

Once he was alone, Ettienne got up from his seat and slowly walked to the front of the large window in the room.

"Finally, you came to me." A warm smile is seen on Ettienne's handsome face.
