Chapter 4: Is It the End?

974 Words
Lauryn, who was being chased from various directions, could only quicken her steps to escape from Sebastian's pursuit, while grinding her teeth, she hoped to find a place to hide. Lauryn could hear the sound of footsteps from the warriors chasing her, she panicked even more when she realised that. It felt like wherever Lauryn stepped her feet, the warriors could easily catch up to her. However, what Lauryn found was an endless dense forest and unfortunately it was only a matter of time before she was surrounded by warriors brought by Sebastian. "Damn it, why did everything have to be like this," Lauryn muttered in despair, she didn't know what to do anymore, all she could do now was keep running for some time. Inside her heart, Lauryn kept hoping for the Moon Goddess to save her just this once, she hoped that there would be a miracle for her tonight, even though she had never believed in something called a miracle before. It was then that Lauryn saw a reflection of light in the distance, with a wishful thinking that a miracle would really happen, Lauryn quickened her steps to get there. However, Lauryn's steps could only be stopped when she realised what she saw after coming to the source of the light she saw earlier. It was a cliff that had an abyss, which seemed bottomless. Slowly Lauryn stepped closer to the edge of the cliff to look down at the bottom of the abyss, instantly fear immediately ambushed Lauryn as she stared down there. From this height, Lauryn could confirm that it was very likely that she would die if she dared to jump from the top of the cliff down there. Unknowingly, Lauryn swore while grabbing her hair in frustration, didn't she expect a miracle to come to her, why instead a deadlock indicating that her life was over came to her at this time. "Damn it! Aaarghhh!" Lauryn could only continue to grab her shapeless hair while screaming desperately, she couldn't run anywhere now. Because a moment later, Lauryn could see the warriors brought by Sebastian starting to come out of the dense forest towards her while pointing their weapons at her. It didn't stop there, even Lauryn could once again see Sebastian's cold face staring at her intently. "It's time you gave up, Lauryn." Sebastian didn't want Lauryn to take any rash action, he started walking towards Lauryn slowly, trying not to frighten her with his presence. Seeing Sebastian getting closer to her, Lauryn shook her head while staring at Sebastian in a daze, afraid that Sebastian would catch her, Lauryn kept stepping back. Until finally Lauryn had to stop her steps again because there was no longer ground that she could step on. For a moment Lauryn looked down there, she could see that there was a river flowing swiftly at the bottom of the ravine. This time it was Sebastian who was scared, he hoped that Lauryn would not do something reckless like jumping from the top of this cliff, even though there was a river below, it would still be fatal if Lauryn forced herself to jump from here. "Lauryn, look at me!" Sebastian immediately took the initiative to attract Lauryn's attention, so that the girl would not focus on the escape method she had in mind. Hearing that Lauryn could only smile bitterly, then accompanied by a sad laugh. Lauryn slowly looked back at Sebastian with a sad look, "You still insist that I am the traitor?" Lauryn said softly, for the last time she wanted to see what Sebastian would do at this time. Sebastian, who was stared at like that by Lauryn, felt that his heart throbbed with pain, his heart really hurt when he saw how much Lauryn was suffering right now. However, Sebastian as an Alpha for his Pack must remain objective and cannot simply forget about the problems that are currently befalling Lauryn. Unable to contain the tremble in his voice, Sebastian began to raise his voice to persuade Lauryn to return to the Amethyst Moon pack. "Lauryn, we can talk about this when we get back to the pack. Please trust me." Sebastian did his best to soften his tone to melt Lauryn's heart. A disdainful laugh slipped from Lauryn's lips beautifully, "Just because it's been like this, and now you just want to talk about all of this?" Lauryn roared miserably at Sebastian, she didn't expect that Sebastian would be like this to her. Lauryn even had doubts whether their feelings of love had been just a fake. At first, Lauryn was still hesitant to make up her mind, but after hearing what Sebastian said, she became certain about her current choice. "One day I will return to you to prove all my innocence! Mark my words!" With a feeling of hatred that had already strengthened in her heart, Lauryn shot sharp and cold gaze at Sebastian who was still pensive after hearing what Lauryn had said. "Don't expect to be able to live happily after what you did to me today, Sebastian!" A grin was clearly etched on Lauryn's face. Without hesitation Lauryn turned her body and quickly she jumped to the bottom of the cliff. Hearing Sebastian's screams after that, he immediately ran, trying to grab Lauryn's hand and prevent her from jumping. However, no matter how hard Sebastian tried, he was still too late to save Lauryn. As Sebastian looked down at the bottom of the abyss, only darkness could be seen. That night with an emptiness immediately appeared in the corner of Sebastian's heart, with Lauryn's departure, he felt that half of his life had left his soul. The moon that glistened dimly above witnessed today's events, as Lauryn said before, Sebastian's life will never be the same as it was before.
