“Do you still love her?” I asked holding back my tears. “Love, what kind of questions is that?” He tried to hold me. I can see fear in his eyes. I can’t pinpoint what kind of fear it is. Is he scared that I might leave him? Or is he scared to know that I already knew what he kept denying to himself? “I can feel it. The way you looked at her is the same way I look at you.” I plastered a smile while I tried to hold his hand. “I love you, you know that. The fact that I love you means I want nothing but your happiness.” I tried to suppress my tears to show him that I am strong enough to handle what was about to come. “Love please don’t do this. I don’t want to hurt you.” “I’m going to ask you again, do you love me?” “Of course, I do. I love you.” “Do you love her?” He stared at me. Perhaps grasping for the right words to say that he thought would probably hurt me less. “I’m sorry.” As he broke down in front of me. And that broke my heart to a million pieces.
