Chapter - 19

The next day, I woke up and waited for Jenny to pick me up. Once she did, we drove to the company and went straight to my office. As usual, I did my paperwork and assigned some workers to work in another country. "Miss, one of the designers just informed me that the dress is completely finished. The designers will be at the ball and keep you company there. Oh, and there will be over a hundred people there, some even with their children to introduce them to all the big shots in the country. You will be a target for many people because of this company. So please be wary." She said as she stood up. I looked up at her with a questionable look. "I'm going to see the dress in person just in case. Because even though you have been to many balls, masquerades, events and other kinds of celebration. Since your reincarnation, it's your first time and I want it to be absolutely perfect. Once I come back, I will explain the meaning of this ball and also prepare a present." She was about to open the door when I hit my table to get her attention. I still can't talk because my throat is still healing, but I will be able to talk at the ball since it will be healed by then. But when I'm home, I read books out loud so I can speak normally with no problems. "Miss, you don't need to get angry. Everything will be alright. Not only that, but I will even be keeping you company there. I'll be there as your assistant, nothing more. I'll excuse myself", she said as she left. That's not why I got angry. I just realized that all the big shots will be there and that also means he will be there. Why didn't she tell me that from the start? Did she find out that he was the one who killed me and so that's why the company didn't fall into his hands? After the ball, I'll need to find this out. The ball is next week. It's going to be a real show. I got up from my chair and looked out the window. I remember picking this spot because of its view. Truly breathtaking. I looked around in the office and truly nothing was missing. Still the same. The dark oak assistant's table is on the right as you walk through the doors. If you then look at the left side, there is a white sofa and two white armchairs, with a marble coffee table in the middle. If you look straight, you see my dark oak desk with golden marks. There are drawers like any other table but with hidden spaces in them. Of course, there are shelves with documents and files. But most of the files and documents are in the assistant's office. Even though she has a desk here, it's just used when I either have too much paperwork or I need her to do the paperwork for me. I sat back down and looked through the papers. There's income from another country, but it's still not enough. I'll need to expand it to other countries too. I need to establish some connections at this ball and I doubt that anyone will reject my company. But then again, I am known as the new CEO, so I will need to establish a new relationship with them and then crush him to the ground. I went back to my paperwork and continued to work. By the time I was done, Jenny had opened the door to my office with an ice tea in her hand. I got up from my chair and grabbed her drink from her. We took the elevator to the basement floor and got into her car. As we started to drive, she started to explain everything. "There will be over 100 businessmen and women there and the organizers are the CHi family. It will be normal for someone to wear a mask to cover up their face and this will be a huge thing. There will be small and big business owners and the smaller businesses will try to establish a relationship with bigger businesses to benefit from them. Also, there's a rumor that they will be introducing their children to the other big shots. We still hold the 5th spot, so there will also be attention for us. There will be me, a designer of the dress, and also an undercover waitress of ours. She is a trained professional and she will be there in case of emergencies." I nodded at her explanation and was still going through some papers while drinking my ice tea. We finally arrived at the location of the ball and we both put on a mask as we walked up the stairs. As we walked through the doors, I was met by an incredible hall. We looked around until I heard a cough and I quickly turned around to be met by a middle-aged woman. Jenny quickly started whispering in my ear. "This is Mr's. Chi. The organizers' wife." I nodded and started examining her. "Hello, I am Miss's personal assistant." I had my gloves on and the thought of shaking hands with someone wasn't on my plan. I saw her hand extended toward me and Jenny quickly shook it. "My apologies, but Miss isn't a fan of shaking hands." "That's alright," She said with a smile. " You will be one of the guests if I am correct." I nodded at her. "Yes, but we personally came here to inform you that we might be late for the ball." "It's alright, what's the name of the company so I will be able to inform my husband." "It's The Diamond company." "Oh, the Diamond company. Wait The Diamond company? I love the new dress styles. I have already ordered some for my daughter and myself. I even bought a suit for my son and husband. They are all very stylish. It's alright." I smiled at her, even though she couldn't see it. After a few minutes of chatting, we left and I was dropped off. It's all set up now.
