The First Encounter
Daisy
Parties are not for me. Ever since I was a little girl, I hated parties. I still remember when my parents forced me to attend my cousin's birthday party. I cried my eyes out, which upset my father, who almost gave me a good whipping. My grandma was present, so she stood up for me. I still ended up having to go, and it was one of the worst days of my life.
"Daisy, come join us, and don't keep standing over there like a wallflower," one of my coworkers said.
She nudged me, trying to make me move, but I remained in my spot. I gave her a smile before excusing myself to use the bathroom. I have been standing around for about an hour in these killer heels, and my feet are crying. Even my stomach is crying from the tight black dress, and I can't freely eat all the desserts I want. One slice of cake and my dress might burst, causing a wardrobe malfunction. The last thing I needed was some wild, unwanted attention.
For the past five years, I have been working at Wilusz Enterprise. I started as an intern—secretary assistant—for the former CEO, Mr. Giorgiano Wilusz, and two years later, I became the public relations director. Mr. Wilusz also retired, and his son, Robin, or Mr. Wilusz Jr, as I liked to call him, became the new CEO. I have nothing against Robin, as he leads the company well. The only thing that irks me is his endless scandals. As the public relations director, I always cleaned up after his messes. Of course, some of the scandals are caused by some of his old flames. Those are usually easy to handle. Then there are some directly caused by Robin, like when he punched another businessman at a fundraising event. I quickly managed the incident after investigating the matter and found that it was the other party that had instigated Robin.
Although not visible, I was mentally getting grey hair. Not to mention that most of the employees in my department don't have a single brain cell as they're a bunch of women that Robin hired based on looks; I was aging daily. Then, last week, I finally lost it when these two employees, whom I can't even remember, fought in the office. They both claimed to have slept with Robin and were fighting over him. Immediately, I called security to throw them out of the building, and they were terminated. It was also that same day that I handed in my resignation letter. Just one more day, and I'll be stress-free!!
"Perfect," I exclaimed as I stopped in front of an unoccupied room, which I had earlier and secretly left a change of clothes inside.
Showing up for an hour was good enough for me, and now it's time for me to go home without anyone catching me in the act. Exhausted and hungry, I was struggling to unzip the back of my dress while thinking that I should exit out the back door. I didn't need anyone catching me trying to bail out early.
"Phew," I sighed as my dress fell to the ground, and I immediately kicked off my heels.
A sudden chill ran through my spine, sending me goosebumps, and I knew something was off. Something wasn't right. The lights! Who turned the lights on?! Was it me? But I don't remember turning the lights on. Am I finally going crazy?!
"Ahem."
My neck snapped toward the sound, and two pairs of eyes were staring at me.
"Ahhhhhh! What the hell Robin?! What are you doing here," I exclaimed.
Panicking, I picked up my dress, halfway zipped it up, and threw one of my heels towards the two men.
"If you were going to make out, at least do it with a woman! Why a man? Are you planning on sending your father to the graveyard? Do you enjoy making my life miserable," I exclaimed, throwing my other heel at them.
"We're not lovers," the man standing beside Robin said sternly.
"Like hell, I believe that," I barked back.
"Oh, you will soon, beautiful," he said in a deep voice as he approached me.
His large frame made me shiver, but I could not back down if he were twice my size and ten heads taller than me. I would not let him scare me, but as he kept inching closer to me, I found myself against the door.
"Why were you eavesdropping on us," he asked.
He placed one arm above me, resting against the door, and I felt his other hand right beside my waist. This man knew no boundaries! He's just as annoying as Robin.
"Excuse me! I was not eavesdropping," I said.
I tried to push him, but he wouldn't budge. Instead, he gave me a victorious smirk as if he was enjoying this moment. I wanted to smack that annoying smirk off this face but held back the urge.
"Instead, you two need to explain what you were doing here! Who are you? What did Robin promise or do to you? Did you two decide to adopt a child together secretly? Are you here demanding child support, or what do you want," I blabbered.
"Daisy, it's not like that. He's—"
"Shut it, Robin," I yelled.
"Daisy, huh? That's a beautiful name for a beautiful person like you," the man in front of me said.
A rush of fear flowed through my body as his eyes began to fill with hunger and thirst. It was the look of a predator hunting for its prey. His hand, which had just rested casually by my waist moments ago, moved with a sudden purpose, caressing my face. His rough but warm fingers brushed against my lips, sending a shiver down my spine. His knee forced its way between my legs, further trapping me in place. The panic finally set in as I realized the array of possibilities the situation could turn into. Yet, I was not going to give up.
"Excuse me, but I'm not dinner. If you're hungry, there's plenty of food outside," I said, pushing him again. "A little help over here, Robin! Can you please move your lover off of me?"
There was yet to be a response from Robin. I peeked over and that rascal was on his phone!
"You got it all messed up, beautiful," the man said.
He held my chin and gently forced me to look at him. The hunger and thirsty look in his eyes was even stronger than before. As he leaned closer, I got a whiff of his cologne. It was a complex blend of spicy cinnamon and smoky cedarwood, with a hint of zesty bergamot that added a refreshing twist.
"I'm not Robin's lover, but I'll be more than glad to become yours," he whispered.
"What? F—"
"Alex, we go to go! That was the hospital calling about Natalia," Robin urgently said, cutting me off.
"Come," the man said as he finally got off me and grabbed my wrist.
"Wait, why am I going?"
"Weren't you curious about me and Robin? Well, now's your chance to find out," he responded.
