Gena decided to stay, knowing she needed to be more alert. If she left abruptly, both Ronnie and Cherry might get suspicious. She had signed the contracts with Ronnie and planned to spend the remaining days enjoying the beach.
On the fourth day, she felt a sense of relief that she hadn't encountered Jared yet. Maybe he had left.
Feeling adventurous, Gena put on her two-piece bikini and headed out for a swim. Cherry promised to join her after finishing some reports. Seeking privacy, Gena found a secluded spot on the beach and let her worries drift away with the waves. As she swam, she felt a prickling sensation of being watched. Turning around, her heart raced and her knees weakened. There, under an umbrella tree, was Jared Jacobo, her husband, staring at her. She couldn't read his expression.
Panicking, Gena considered running but knew it would look foolish. "Oh no, he’s coming over!" she thought. She swam away from his direction, only to look back and feel a mix of relief and disappointment when she saw he hadn’t followed her. Instead, Jared was with another woman in a bikini, and they were kissing.
"Disgusting," she muttered, seizing the opportunity to escape back to the hotel.
In her room, Cherry greeted her with a smile. "How was it? Found a hot guy for our dinner?"
"Nope, not yet. We better go together. I don’t know how to catch one," Gena replied.
"Alright, let's dress up then. Be my bait, princess, and I'll be the hunter," Cherry said with an evil grin.
"You witch!" Gena yelled, laughing.
"And you're the master of this witch. My power comes from you," Cherry shot back.
"Someday I'll master my power and won’t need an assistant!" Gena smirked.
"That’s my heartless master," Cherry said, heading to the bathroom.
Gena sighed deeply, pondering Jared’s stare. Did he recognize her? She shook off the thoughts as Cherry emerged. "Your turn!"
Gena quickly showered and dressed, choosing a simple yet attractive casual dress.
"A bait shouldn't look like one to lure a bigger fish!" she mused in front of the mirror.
"You're such a devil disguised as an angel!" Cherry teased.
At the restobar, Gena remained alert, guiding Cherry to a corner to ensure Jared wasn’t around. Feeling more relaxed, she joined Cherry in their plan. Cherry handed her a glass of tequila. "Let’s prepare for our man-hunting," she whispered loudly.
Scanning the area, Gena spotted a hot guy staring at her. She smiled back but then pretended to ignore him. Unsure of the next move, she confided in Cherry.
"Hey! I found a target, to our left. You got to move!"
Cherry waited a minute before glancing left. "Hey boy! Wanna join us?"
The hot guy approached. "May I sit beside you, beauty?"
"Sure!" Gena replied seductively.
"Mr. Pretty face, you should entertain me first so I can recommend you to my lady boss," Cherry said, patting his shoulder.
"Whoa! I wasn’t informed about the process."
"Well, now you know. If you can’t satisfy me, you can’t pass her standards!" Cherry joked.
Gena laughed, enjoying the banter. They continued chatting and drinking.
"It’s been two hours and I still don’t know your names. I’m Edwin," the guy said.
"I’m Cherry," she replied, shaking his hand.
"You’re still not qualified to know her name because you haven’t passed my screening yet," Cherry teased.
"Well, you should satisfy my girl here. I need to use the comfort room," Gena excused herself, feeling tipsy.
Navigating through the crowded bar, she felt a strong arm wrap around her waist. Before she could react, the man kissed her. She pushed him away and slapped him hard, realizing it was Jared. Panicking, she ran to the restroom.
Inside, she dialed Cherry. "I need you now, rescue me here!"
"What’s wrong?"
"Just come over and say goodbye to Edwin for both of us!"
"Okay."
Gena tried to calm herself while waiting. When Cherry arrived, Gena hurriedly pulled her in and locked the door.
"Remove your dress," Gena commanded.
"What’s going on?" Cherry hesitated.
"Just do it. We need to change. I’m hiding from someone," Gena explained briefly.
"Okay, but from whom? Did you do something?"
"Something like that. Just help me out," Gena said, making her eyes big.
"Alright, you're the boss," Cherry murmured, changing into Gena’s dress.
"Guess we look just fine," Gena assured her with a smile.
They hurried out, covering their faces with their hair. Safely back at the hotel, Gena undressed and collapsed on the bed, laughing nervously.
"What was that all about?" Cherry asked, joining in the laughter.
"Nothing. I just wanted to rest and prank you," Gena lied.
"You wicked witch!" Cherry laughed along.
"We’re going back to work tomorrow. Let’s pack," Gena said, getting up to pack. The vacation was over. She couldn’t relax anymore. The world was getting smaller for her and Jared. She knew she’d have to face this problem soon.
