PART 1: DATES. ONE

1661 Words
My year started on a good note. Then, how the hell did it get so bad? Let's start from when it all started shall we? Senior year. Wednesday morning. Quite sunny. Second bell had gone and I was late for Mr Louis's chemistry class. Again. Taking a look at me, you wouldn't be able to tell that I was late for a class, considering the way I had paused in the hallway to squint and giggle at the snap Vera had sent to me 6 minutes ago, of her elder brother sleeping with his mouth wide open. He sure didn't look pretty. He would also kill and bury her if he ever saw that photo. If Vera sent me a snap of her brother 6 minutes ago, that means she was still home 6 minutes ago. That means she wasn't even in school yet as it took her like, 8 minutes to get to school if she was going on a steady 100m/s. The hallway guy, as we all called him, saw me walking down the hallway during class hours and was about to say something until he saw that it was actually me. He opened and closed his mouth in the same second. Then, sighed tiredly. I smirked evilly to myself then, said hello to him, just for the fun of it, "Morning, Mr Herald" He sighed again, then went, "Good morning, miss Jameson" Finally, I reached my class. I pushed the door open just in time to hear Mr Louis say good morning to the class. The door opening and my appearance distracted Mr Louis and the entire class. I could feel all eyes on me. "Miss Jameson" Mr Louis sighed tiredly. "Good morning Mr Loius". I gave a bright smile even though I knew I was late for his class and promised last week that I wouldn't be late this week. "What did I say about coming late for my class?"He sighed tiredly again. "I'm sorry, it won't happen again" I said, licking my cheek with my tongue, with a small smile on my face. I was this apologetic because he was my favourite teacher. If it was other teachers I didn't like, I'd not even care. I'd just walk to my seat ignoring them I was untouchable in this school. Perks of being friends with Jada Delgado. Did I take that for granted? Yes. Yes, I did. "That's what you said last week, miss Jameson" Mr Louis looked untouched by my apology. I almost laughed cause it's true. I said to him again, "I can guarantee you this time." Mr Louis was obviously exasperated as he said, "Miss Jameson? You said the same thing last week too." That caused a chuckle from me and my classmates. "Well, I mean it this time."I smiled cheekily. "You said that la-ugh!" Mr Louis pinched the bridge of his nose. "You know what? I don't care. Go. Go have your seat." He waved me away dismissively. I smiled as I walked to my seat while my mates stared at me. I won't lie and say that I don't notice the way people stare at me as I walk by. I'm pretty and I always look good. Too pretty and too good, if I want to get cocky. Jada, Vera and I have particular seats in each class and in the cafeteria no one dares sit on or even close to. It's just an unspoken rule. We were feared and respected like that. The only person that people also don't sit beside or close to is Scott Davidson. He was feared and respected too but his was like in a different way. He always wore a huge black hood to school and always had the hoodie over his face that it covered his eyes till the bridge of his nose. He was tall and no one had ever heard him speak before. They said he was a drug dealer on the side and that he rolled with assassins and s**t like that. I really don't know how true that was. All I knew about Scott was that he was black with chockolate dark skin and that he had such red lips. Only Jada was seated. Honestly, I didn't expect Vera to be in school yet, I already mentioned that. I said to Jada as I sat, "Hola, mamii" That was basically the only thing I knew in Spanish. I loved trying to speak because I loved the smile that lit up Jada's face when any of us tried to speak her dialect. And Jada hardly ever smiled. She always has this stony mean look on her face. A trait she got from her dad. But when she smiled, she had the prettiest smile. Like now, one of those pretty smiles graced her beautiful sharp features, "Hola, Liv. Cómo estás?" Shit She has taught me the reply to this how are you question like a million times but I just keep forgetting. I opened my mouth and the words stuck right there, "Uhh..uhm-" The smile on Jada's face was replaced with a strong glare, "Estoy bien! Estoy..bien!!" I couldn't help but laugh at the look on Jada's face, "Sorry, sorry! Estoy bien." Jada's palm tightened around the cup of milkshake in her palms in annoyance, " If you're not going to learn it, then, don't bother trying in the first place." "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" I laughed even more, too scared to tell Jada that I've forgotten what she just taught me. I was that uninterested in languages. "Pendejo!" Jada muttered under her breath and I was pretty sure that she was insulting me. I looked away from her and I tried to focus on what Mr Louis was saying about electrostatic bonds but Jada distracted me by saying, "Love your afro." I turned and stared at her and pouted. She only said that s**t to me for a reason. I smiled down at her cup of milkshake. Looking back up at her, I said," Jada, if I find that straw in my hair, I'm going to kill you. Okay?" Jada giggled even though that mean look didn't leave her face, "We'll see, Liv" "Sorry, Miss Delgado and Miss Jameson, I would love it if I'm the only one speaking." Mr Louis cut out conversation shut. When I looked up, I found the whole class and Mr Louis staring at us. "Sorry!" I giggled while Jada murmured something inaudible under her breath. Mr Louis wasn't done, "Miss Delgado, I'll appreciate if you don't drink that in my class?" Trust me, if it was another person, it was straight to detention. "I'll soon be through with it." Jada nodded like she didn't understand that Mr Louis told her to get rid of her drink. Mr Louis sighed cause what more can he do? He then squinted his eyes, c****d his head and said, "Where's Miss Bale?" It was just as if Vera was waiting for her name to be called before she showed up in all her glory. She burst the doors open, panting a little, before she flipped her glorious fawn hair away from her face. Mr Louis frowned, obviously not impressed by her, " Miss Bale? Do you have an idea on what the time is?" Vera looked at her golden wristwatch," It's 8:24am, Mr Louis." Mr Louis pursed his lips and then, in a flat tone, said," You're late." "To be fair, I ran down the hallway this time." "You don't look like someone that ran." "What more do you need? I'm panting my lun-" "Go have a seat, Miss Bale. You're distracting my class." Mr Louis cut her short, looking really annoyed. "Thank you. You look nice, as always. Love your shirt." Vera said, smiling cutely as she walked towards us, with her gaze on Mr Louis. Of course, Vera. Flirt a little. That affected Mr Louis. He cleared his throat and fighting back a small smile, he stuttered a little, "Th-thank you, Miss Bale." I smiled to myself. Vera always had that effect on males. And females, to be honest too. She now turns out to be so f*****g brilliant. She'll definitely be valecdictorian. She was already student body president. She knew how to juggle boys, school, parties and looking so damn hot all the time. As she sat beside me, she went, "Apparently we have four new students. Supposed to meet with them and the principal to give them a tour of the school after this period. This student body president of a thing is so tiring. I can't wait to finally hand over ." "You're talking like anyone forced you in the first place." Jada snickered. I didn't say anything cause I noticed Mr Louis glaring at Jada and Vera. I just folded my lips to hide my smile. Mr Louis had enough of it and pausing in his lecture, he went, "Miss Delgado? Miss Bale? Shut up?" "Sorry, sorry!" Vera giggled, catching eyes with me. Amusement filled her eyes and we both bowed out heads to laugh. "Miss Jameson?" Mr Louis called and I raised my head immediately. He frowned at me, "Take that straw out of your hair! You're not funny. Stop causing a distraction in my class!" Straw??? I looked around. I was actually causing a distraction. Everyone was looking at me like I'm so cool to pull a stunt like that while they laughed. I wondered why they were laughing. Mr Louis was right though. That wasn't funny. I didn't find it funny as well. Jada!!!!!! I glared at her as she and Vera laughed. Vera even had her phone out filming my reaction. I used my fingers to find the straw in my afro blindly. With a few pats here and there, I pulled out the straw in my hair and threw it straight at Jada. "Miss Bale?! No phones in class!!!" Mr Louis said exasperatedly. Poor Mr Louis.
